Niners & Smith Agree on a Deal
The 49ers and DE Justin Smith (Bengals) have reached an agreement, but nothing has been signed. Deal is believed to be $32.5 million in the first four years of the contract, overall 6-years, $45 million. The signing of Smith immediately improves the 49ers horrid pass rushing defense. Free Agent Reports
FOXSports.com has learned that Bruce is heading to San Francisco for a free-agent meeting with the 49ers, which recently hired Mike Martz as their offensive coordinator. St Louis Post Dispatch reports that Martz contaced Bruce Thursday night and if/when Bruce gets on a plane it will be to sign a deal not just to visit.
Faneca Contacted, Smith to Visit & More
Alan Faneca’s name has popped up according to John Clayton. This is the first mention of Faneca linked to the 49ers, it could be one reason why they let Justin Smiley walk so easily. Check here for other free agent news and notes.

Latest rumors/reports are that the 49ers are hot after Lance Briggs and Justin Smith. Also Bernard Berrian is saying he’d like to play for the 49ers.
