Nolan a Fan of Berrian?
Matthew Barrows was answering questions on his blog and one that was proposed to him was if the 49ers would show any interest in Chad Johnson, the response from Barrows was that he wasn’t sure if Nolan would want to deal with him, but did say that Nolan is fond of Bernard Berrian and that he would be a perfect fit for Martz’s style of offense. So could the Niners be looking at Berrian once free agency roles around and if so does he give the 49ers a hometown discount?

Quit jacking around, put in a bid for oucho cinco!

we need both, the oucho cinco and berrian.

He would be a faster antonio bryant, without the bad attitude. He is another number two reciever. He would be a great deep threat. Chad Johnson is ot going to be traded Marvin lewis announced that already, it was on ESPN.
Maybe Nolan is going to start mooching off of the Bears instead of the Ravens.
Getting…
Lance Briggs
Bernard Berrian
We should trade Ashley lelie for a fourth round pick. He will suck under Martz. You need to be able to run good routes, Lelie’s weasknesses are route running, which if bad lead to interceptions, and he has bad hands. He will suck under Martz. We need to bring in a reciever through the draft Hardy or Bowman. Either of those guys would be great additions. We need guys who can run routes and actually catch the ball. Mover Arnaz Battle to the slot reciever posistion. We should put the rookie reciever as the number 1 reciever. We should draft Will Franklin in the late rounds and he would fit perfectly with his speed in Martz’s system. We should trade Darrel jackson, in martz’s system the recievers run deep routes which are the routes Jackson can’t catch the ball at. We should be able to get a third from a desperate team, or fourth round pick for him.
This is what I want our Recieving core to look like…
5 WR Set
#2 WR #3 WR #4/5 WR #4/5 WR #1 WR
Berrian Battle Hill Franklin Hardy/Bowman
LT LG C RG RT
Joe Staley Adam Snyder Eric Heitman David Baas Damane Dukett
QB
Alex Smith/Shaun Hill

Now don’t go off ninersgold, but I think you will be happy with the rankings of scout.com when it comes to receiver in this years draft. However, I thought Purify was taller than that. I thought he was 6′5″ and they have Hardy at that height as well….so this might be scued when it comes to their height and weight.

This is should be more organized and easier to read…
WR1 Hardy or Bowman
WR2 Berrian
WR3 Battle
WR4 Hill
WR5 Franklin
If we draft Franklin, he could win the number 4 WR posistion over Hill. Will Franklin is Faster and taller, has equal nose for the ball (catching in traffic/good hands) and good run blocker like Jason Hill is.
I’m rooting for the Chargers vs. Giants in the Superbowl! It is the best situation for our draft pick. (It will make our pick at 28 instead of 29 or 30)

Ryan the 1st… yeah i noticed that the heights are two inches off on almost everybody. Hardy is 6′5″ instead of 6′7″. Will Franklin is 6′0″ instead of 6′2″. And for some it is one inch off. Bowman is 6′3″ but he is actually 6′4″ That is the only site I have seen with him ranked best WR. Most of the others have him ranked as number 6 or 7 best WR. If Groves is not available in the first we should take Hardy instead (if he is available that is), unless there is a really good DT available.

The Yorks need to send a private jet to Bernard Berrian, filled with hookers, champagne and cash, and fly it here to the Bay Area where he can sign his name on the dotted line!
ninersgold | Jan 20, 2008 | Reply
He is definetly a weapon. His speed would require attention from other teams defenses. (Double covering him). I can’t wait to see what Martz does with this offense. No matter where he is he turns shit into top five offenses. If we could draft a couple of playmakers, we could have a top 15 offense. But it could actually turn out better than that. I wanna see if our offense will look similar to that of the Patriots, except with a running attack.
Niner4Life | Jan 20, 2008 | Reply
I like the enthusiasm but rarely does a rookie draw double teams. Not even guys like Calvin Johnson or Braylon Edwards in their first year. This is a prove it league. With Battle and Jax being the best WR on the team, defenses will be playing straight up.
Our only advantage will be to improve line play and flood the secondary with WRs. And get Gore in space.
Nolan, go get Berrian. He brings some creditability.
I just hope S. Hill wins the QB job so we can get away from the two read issue Smith has.
ninersgold | Jan 20, 2008 | Reply
That’s the point. Berrian will be doublke covered for his deep threat ability and let our big rookie wide out get open more often. James Hardy or Bowman they are both big Hardy at 6′7″ and Bowman at 6′4″. Are you seeing The pats game? Vincent Jackson is trashing them using his size, and since he is not being double covered he is being a big target, especially because he is 6′5″. We could do something like that. The opponents will be trying to shut down Gore, but than we will have to beat them through the air. they will probally try to cover Gore when he is in the flat, which will open up our other guys, if that may be Vernon Davis, Berrian or even Hardy/Bowman.
Smith will be “fixed” by Mike Martz. He said he is going to start with the basics on him and build him up from there. I think Alex Smith will be a huge improvement this year, even if you don’t think so. He was already improved earlier this season, unfortuantely we had terrible play calling, and by the time the play calling was a little bit better. Smith was injured, badly. I was surprised that he was playing with a seperated shoulder, On his throwing arm. i would understand if it was the other arm but your throwing arm is the moist important thing for a QB. How was he supposed to do anything with a shoulder that’s falling off? He was playing pretty well those first three games. If you actually watch them, which I know those games suck, but it was the play calling. And now our play calling will be a hell of a lot bettr than it was before, i could see Smith throwing 25-30 touchdowns this season, in Martz’s offense. Now hopefully we get rid of Jonas Jennings, and now that Larry Allen is gone our pass protection has become better already. All those guys could do was run block. Heitman is now 100% back from his broken leg, Staley will be better with a year under his belt (even if he does move to the left side), and Snyder will probaly play LG next to him, which is his more natural posistion. David Baas should be better with more playing time as well. The only wild card is RT. Damane Duckett is supposedly doing very well in camp and practices at OT. That is the only thing that could affect this team. If the convert from DT works out than we will have a solid line that is much better than last years. but if Damane Duckett doesn’t work out than our QB whether it’s Alex SMith or Shaun Hill will be murdered. Damane Duckett is 6′6″ 310-320 pounds, so he has the “tools”, he has the perfect body for the posistion the only thing is will he have the technique and will he be able to play in real time against the DEs. He has been taking lessons under Jonas Jennings, which is good, because Jennings used to be very very good, he just happens to be old and gets injured to much. Damane Duckett could turn out to be the answer to our o-line. If we do get Berrian we will have a proven threat that will open some things up for us.

I would like either Berrian or Johnson. They are both #1 WR’s that would do great. I can definitely see us going after Berrian.
Ninaz | Jan 20, 2008 | Reply
I would like Chad Johnson too, but he is not physical and is perfect for an offense with a good QB(we do not have one). If Alex plays with Berian it would be like watching Antonio Bryant again.
ninersgold | Jan 20, 2008 | Reply
I like Will Franklin a lot. He is going to be a 4th to 5th round pick and he is 6′2″ and runs a 4.3 40. He is very fast, aggressive, and he wants to be a niner. I have already posted this link before but what the hell…
http://www.gametap.com/home/read/article/2840
I like his attitude, very positive, and he knows how to catch the ball (unlike darrel jackson), using his hands instead of his body, and he holds onto the ball after taking big hits(read the article to find out why). The reason why his stock is so low, is because MIZZ throws to their tight ends as there recievers instead of there WRs. When he does get the ball he is a deep threat. He has a 14.6 career yards per cacth average. He was supposed to be a 2nd round pick if he had left his junior season, but he stayed and he paid for it. If we get him he could turn out to be a great steal. He is a lot like Greg Jennings of Green Bay with his speed, and in the article on the side it compares him to our division rival Torry Holt.

I’m all for picking up Berrian. Who knows, maybe he’s the guy to finally be the WR we need. As for Chad Johnson, uh, no. He would be TO all over again, except he is on the downside of his career now. Berrian, fine. Johnson, pass…
ninersgold | Jan 20, 2008 | Reply
Berrian is faster than Antonio Bryant. I think he would really fit well in Martz’s system. Bryant johnson is kinda slow looking. Chad Johnson has behavior problems much like Antonio Bryant and Terrel Owens do. Berrian is all for the team, he is not a total ass like the above I have listed. He would be a great fit. You guys think Lelie is fast? wait till you see Berrian. The guy was a track star before he played football. He had very good stats for all those QB problems the Bears had this season. They are almost in worse shape than us. There QB is proven to suck, unlike Alex Smith. There back up was a little bit more functional than Dilfer, and Kyle Orton is worse than Shaun Hill. Berrian would be a great addidtion. I would really like to have Berrian with a couple more play makers from the draft. Will Franklin and Bowman or Hardy!

Johnson isn’t going to be traded anyways
ninersgold | Jan 20, 2008 | Reply
Yeah I said that before too. He isn’t going to be traded, Marvin Lewis said that he will not be trading Chad Johnson, it was on ESPN. I really want to see what Martz is going to do to Alex Smith. Is he going to reach his full potential? He has a ton of potential so what would he be like? All i know is that he needs weapons like Berrian in order to be sucessful. It would also help to have another big target like the 6′4″-6′7″ recievers in the draft. Rivers has gotten better with Vincent Jackson (6′5″), Eli manning has had Plaxico Burress (6′5″) Look at Tom Brady, he has gotten better with Randy Moss (6′4″)even if he is just one of the best recievers. Jon Kitna has Calvin Johnson now (6′5″). A lot of QBs that have big targets improve.

What do yall think about Limas Sweed Wr from Texas? He’s tall, has good hands and Texas plays a simular offense. Plays alot like Roy Williams. Could be a good fit for Martz.

Please, please, please, shut the fuck up, niners gold. I’m sick of having to sift through your ill-conceived horseshit to read the comments of others, which are occasionally worthwhile. You said you’d never post again, so don’t. There is not one single post from “niners gold” until after you quit posting as “unknown niners”, and its not because you’re shy about posting. You’ve accounted for over 24% of the comments in the last three articles, flooding the pages in mind-numbing James Hardy bullshit, just like you did before. We get it! You love Hardy. You want to feel his hot breath on the back of your neck while you two sweat it out. However, that’s no reason to drag everyone else into your homo-erotic wants, so just drop it.
You’re collapsing this site under the pressure of your immeasurable stupidity.

Nolan’s Suit is More Important Than Victory, yeah you, I’m not a homo, I have posted before, not as often as I do now, but I just recently found this site, and I like it a lot, I can get my favorite team’s news. If you don’t like my comments fine, than don’t fricken read them. For the last time I am not unknown niner, I’m glad you have wasted your time looking at past comments researching if I’m unknown niner. I like your percentages too, how’d you figure those out. You really need to get a life. I do not see Hardy anywhere written in my last comment do you? Seriously get off my case, or I might as well completely ignore you, I don’t have to even bother responding, so every time you think you are insulting me, I am not even going to bother. Oh and for anybody who has been posed by someone else using your name, this is the guy right here…
Nolan’s Suit is More Important Than Victory
Yeah ninerfaithful4ever this is the guy who wrote dumb shit under your name. How many others did you do that to? You need to shut up about me loving Hardy. 100% of your responses are about me loving on Hardy, yeah I did the math, very easy. Well I will never respond to that ASS again.

Sorry to get off the subject. Why cant we just make over Candlestick Park like the Bears did to there stadium? It seems like that would be alot quicker and alot less expensive because the way it seems now is that we will never get a new stadium ever. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?
Medford | Jan 22, 2008 | Reply
Look at what they did to Stanford stadium it only took an offseason to complete. This is an important subject because pretty soon that place is going to crumble to the ground from all that salt water hitting it everyday. Are field seems to be in good shape so the only thing would be the stands, lights, food stands, bathrooms,Press Box, Luxury suites

We need to bild a stadium at Hunters point! Keep our team in the immediate Bay Area. And Nolan has a love affair with small receivers. We need big athletic receivers. That the new breed of todays NFL for that position.

Me and Mr. Hanke Swanke had some time to burn and we were talkin 49ner football here on the 50 yard line, Here at Superbowl Headquarters. I thought I would drop in a share some Prime Time news for my 49er Brothers. First thing you need to Know is the 49ers need a prefela of Wide Receivers to improve this team. If the 49ers want to get back into th “Prime Time” Agenda they need to go after James Hardy, or the other complementary receiver Bowen. If you do not do this my Boy Mr. Joes might show some interest. So wake up 49ers and get some Prime Time Players! Murt Agrees!

I believe the people who think martz is REALLY going to air it out working for nolan maybe incorrect. will he be more aggressive?absolutely he will but I think you will see alot of two back sets and he will probably still utilize moran norris…I really believe that…do the niners need to have some men to throw to?absolutely they do, but I believe that our quarterbacks are not going to be throwing the football 40 times a game…I say this because I look at the Giants coaching staff and the man that is calling the plays for them is a man named Kevin Gilbride…in the 80’s and 90’s he was a user of the run and shoot/red gun offense which is totally 180 degree opposite offense the NYG utilize….Gilbride is an outstanding offensive football mind….and so is Martz, Martz is a Norv Turner disciple so to speak…he will make due with the personnel that he has and if he believes we can’t air it out with the people that we have….we won’t…although I may be wrong
