Kiper on 29 and 39
“They can get a wide receiver at some point,” Kiper said. “You look at some of those guys who are going to figure in that mix at that point late (first round) in the second round. Say DeSean Jackson (Cal) drops, and he could. Say a James Hardy from Indiana, a Earl Bennett from Vanderbilt, a Josh Morgan from Virginia Tech, Early Doucet from LSU, a Donnie Avery from Houston, a Keenan Burton from Kentucky. Those are all guys you could think about - Lavelle Hawkins from Cal, I think is a guy definitely to think about at that point. Jordy Nelson from Kansas State. I compare him to Dwight Clark, a former Niner. So if you can get him in the third round area, that would be a nice pick at that point. So I think they can get a wide receiver. They need help at that position with (Mike) Martz coming in. You want to throw the ball.
“They need an attack outside linebacker - a pass-rusher defensive end - a combo guy would help. Offensive line could use a little help. Overall, I’d say wide receiver on the offensive side and attacking linebacker on the defensive side.”

shane | Feb 19, 2008 | Reply
what an idiot.. of course we neeed receivers.. no arguement there.. but on defense i think our defenseive line is a little more important,, we need a HUGE DT to take up more than one blocker to free up my man patrick willis, not to mention bryant young is retireing so yeah we might want to replace that too.. we got manny lawson who is one of the fastest/biggest linebackers ine the league. if he didnt get hurt this year i guarntee he would of had 7+ sacks. FUCK OFF KIPER

I hope the give Brandon Moore more snaps this year. Im think he could be a solid player. Thank god Derek Smith is gone. He gave us some good years but he is horrible now.

Chris Berman - worst comb-over in the business, but would you rather have Mel Kiper’s helmet-hair??? Ugh…
Niner4Life | Feb 19, 2008 | Reply
You want to know how Kiper is the “master of the draft.” Because all Kiper does is spout off every players name at a position of need for a team so if the team picks a player for that position he can say I predicted it.
I would like to see his actual accuracy numbers.

I’m a Mike Mayock guy, as far as draft prospect evaluation.

I hate Mel Kiper, do you remember how good he said Mike Williams would be, how about Ryan Leaf, do you guys remember when he said that Leaf may have more of an up side than Manning. How does this guy still have a job. I agree with Prime, Mayock is the man. He barely had Mike Williams in the first round, and he seemed pressured to do it. He also was one of the first to predict that McFadden might not be the best back in the draft. He said that about a week ago and today Mel Kiper is on Sports Center talking about Johnathan Stewart. ESPN just doesn’t have the NFL knowledge like they should. I turn to them for basketball info and thats it.

yea, mel kiper is half retarded….what an idiot, and that new kid that espn’s got is just as bad, the kid that looks like he hasnt hit puberty yet (todd mcshay?)…hes a lame ass too….i agree that mayock is good….like when he predicted aaron rodgers to fall to the packers… and how brady quinn slipping late in the 1st round.. brady quinn sucks anyway he shouldnt even of been a 1st round pick…all he does it work out and tell everyone how smart he hinks he is

I actually think Quinn could be one of the future star QBs in the NFl. Unfortunately for him he is a backup to Derek Anderson. Quinn was great at the preseason, and whenhe played us, he went right through our defense and than his Recievers dropped three easy catches in the endzone. I wish we could get Brady Quinn, if he is supposed to be like Tom Brady, why wouldn’t you want him and say he is not a first round pick, if the Dolphins had selected Quinn instead of Beck, they would have had at least 4 wins (it’s not the Qb play thats the problem at Miami its the entire team). A lot of people knew that if Quinn wasn’t picked by the Browns he was going to slip far, the Dolphins were retarted, the Vikings needed a guy like AP. Anyways right now Mel Kiper doesn’t know anything but the obvious, when it gets later on he starts to get better.

but its exactly that “preseason”….big difference from the regular season ….and saying he went right through our defense is not saying much considering every QB basically did that all year long against us…..i’m sorry but I could never compare brady quinn to tom brady…..i mean has quinn ever won a championship anywhere?….

Did Tom Brady? (in college)

Niners will go De/OLB Quintin Grooves in the 1st rd
Wr in the 2nd
Ot in the 3rd
nt in the 4th
cb in the 5th
wr in the 6th
FA ILB Briggs,wr berrian, re sign Douglas,Soap, Smiley to a 1yr for depth. Our D line will be fine with (Oliver and McDonald at LE.)
(Cohen,Franklin and Rookie at NT.) (Douglas,Soap at RE) The heat will
come from Lawson,Willis,Briggs,Grooves !!! Grooves led all of colege with qb hurrys the last two years. He runs 4.45 to 4.55!!Willis showed last year that
he can bring the heat!! Lawson was coming into his own before he got hurt. Briggs cover skills will allow the niners to do alot of things with the blitz. I also think J. Moore will be playing a lot of the run downs for Grooves. TBC is a worthless piece of #**%$.

Groovers does remind me of Demarcus Ware (we won’t mention the team) and that’s just what the Niners need. Someone with speed at the OLB position and who can get to the QB.
I still have faith in some of our WRs and with an addition of say Issac Bruce who knows the Martz system, we could be alright. Last year Hostler had no clue on how to use Jackson, Battle and or Lelie.
Remember after the Ravens game they said Lelie was the only WR they were worried about…and we didn’t even play him. Martz knows what to do the talent around him and he even said that the Niners are much better then the Lions were two years ago.
Can’t wait to see the LBs workout at the Combine today.

An NFC source said Sunday he expects Bengals right end Justin Smith to go to the 49ers in free agency (”They were working on the deal last night,” the source said), but he’s shocked Mike Nolan is going to make Smith a 3-4 end, as well as drop him in coverage.
At 270 pounds, Smith has been relentless and good against the run during his seven seasons in Cincinnati but the source has some doubt Smith can hold up in a 3-4. Still, Smith is going to give supreme effort wherever he plays and that can overcome plenty.

justin smith would be a great addition to our 3-4….. all this free agent talk and the combine going on its so exciting …
i love the nfl……….
