What We Learned: Rams @ 49ers
Sun, 16/11/08 – 16:31 | 34 Comments

The 49ers won their third game of the season and first victory for interim head coach Mike Singletary. From the first half it was all 49ers. They ran the ball well, passed the ball well and didn’t have any stupid penalties or turnovers that hurt them.

Chilo to RT

Submitted by Niner Pundit on Thursday, 29 May 200821 Comments

Word out of 49er camp is that 2nd round pick Chilo Rachal will play right tackle during the 12 offseason practices. This doesn’t bode well for Mr. Glass.

please trade jonas for a 3rd or 4th pick we dont need him chilo is going to be starter at RT this season

  • Adam49 said:

Nah,we need to keep Jonnas around for another year at least. We don’t even know what Rachel is gonna do at the NFL level. He will not start the season at RT Jonnas Jennings will start.Jonnas is a great offensive lineman when he’s healthy.Let’s hope he can stay healthy. Staley,Snyder,Heitman,Baas, and Jennings sounds like one heck of an offensive line. When Jennings get hurt, Rachel will take his spot at RT and Jonnas will be gone next year.

  • Adam49 said:

And maybe with a little compitition behind him Jennings will toughen up a bit. Before they were thinking of putting Rachel at Tackle I was wondering why we didn’t sign a vet tackle to push Jennings like Fred Miller. But now it seems as if Rachel will be that push. And I think he’s gonna push Jennings right out of San Fran.

  • Adam49 said:

Oh, and for the record.Fuck Jason Taylor. We don’t need an idiot on our team like him. Were fine on defense.

  • ninerfaithful said:

adam 49 why should we keep jonas around for him to keep the IR seats warm!!!!! some of the commments you post makes me wonder how long you been a fan !!!!

  • MSouza said:

First thing there is no way anybody would part with even a seventh round pick for an aging injury prone tackle, this is not Madden, but keep him around even if he doesn’t start he is still a good locker room guy and provides the depth at tackle to let Adam Snyder stay at guard if injuries occur.

  • Adam49 said:

So, because you wanna get rid of Jennings and I don’t you wonder how long i’ve been a fan.OK,that makes alot of sense. Were keeping Jennings and that’s that. You wanna trade Jennings a 7 year vet, and start a guy that hasn’t taken a NFL snap, and hasn’t taken a snap at tackle his whole life.(Although i’m not sure about High School).Sure am glad your not the coach.

  • NINER81 said:

WE HAVE TO KEEP JENNINGS. DEPTH IS IMPORTANT TO ANY O-LINE. JENNINGS REALLY DOESNT PLAY BADLY( WHEN HE’S NOT ON IR).
I THINK ADAM IS RIGHT, KEEP HIM FOR ANOTHER YEAR, SEE HOW HE WORKS OUT AT RT. IF JONAS IS GONE WHO WILL BE THE BACK-UP? NOW I DO AGREE,NINERFAITHFUL,ON ONE THING. ADAM DOES POST SOME CRAZY SHIT. BUT I THINK HE’S ON THE MONEY WITH THIS ONE.

  • Adam49 said:

MSouza.I agree with you we should keep him around even if it’s for the Experience. But i’m just not so sure we should put Rachel at tackle right away if Jennings gets hurt.I think it would probably be better to put Snyder out at tackle and Rachel at gaurd if Jennings gets hurt. But let’s look at the bright side.If this guy stays healthy he will dominate. He is a very productive lineman. He just needs to toughen up.I say keep Rachel as the backup for a year to learn the position and start him next year. Then say goodbye to Jennings.

  • Adam49 said:

Um crazy shit like what? Please tell me.

  • NINER81 said:

DONT TAKE IT PERSONAL ADAM IT WASNT MEANT TO BE A SHOT. IT JUST SOUNDED LIKE ONE.I’M JUST SAYING THAT SOMETIMES YOU GO OFF IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION. NO HARM NO FOUL. ALL COMMENTS ARE USEFULL.

  • Adam49 said:

    Fair enough

  • MSouza said:

I agree with you Adam that we just shouldn’t give the RT position to Rachal, but I think it is good that we find out now if he can play it or not. Snyder is a very good guard, but realistically probably will never be a great tackle. He is solid, but lets see if Rachal has it in him to be a bookend with Staley for the next ten years. If he doesn’t thats fine he can play guard and contribute there.

watch by week 4 mr glass will be eating sunflower seeds on the sideline on IR Jonas is the weak link to the o-line he is one of the biggest disapointing free agent moves we made in franchise history…. look how many games has he stared since signing him

Jennings has missed all or parts of 32 games (out of 48) in three seasons with the 49ers.

wow lets pay him top dollar with those stats!!Mr glass has only completed 16 games in his time with the 49ers.that alone makes me want to pull the chilo card

  • Adam49 said:

Ya Snyder will never be a great tackle there’s no doubt about that. But is he better than Rachel at tackle right now probably. But hey let’s wait and see how Jennings does.Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt(we really don’t have a choice). He might come out and kick everybody’s ass this year.Ya never know. But i agree with Souza that Snyder is a very good gaurd. And I think Baas is gonna be a very good gaurd also.So Staley,Snyder,Heitman(with Cody Wallace on his heels),Baas, and Rachel for the next 5 years sounds awesome. And hey Tony Wragge is no joke.

  • Adam49 said:

On a differant subject.I think Dashon Goldson is gonna unseat Roman soon for the FS spot. What do you guys think about that position battle?

  • Adam49 said:

And I also read that the niners were gonna change their uniforms after this season.

  • Samra said:

i agree with adam…mark roman is a very average starter…true he can line up the secondary but im pretty sure micheal lewis can do that also..plus i prefer playmakers to solid contributers ever since the glory days we have never had a play making FS…and we need one bad thats why our defense is not in the top 10 nobody ever gets a turnover even nate clements only got 4 int i was excpecting at least 6-10 from him

  • ShaneO said:

    Samra + Adam49

i couldnt agree more it would be awesome to have a playmaker in the secondary!! i dont know quite enuff about Goldson to say he is that guy yet tho. wasnt he a 4th rd pick. now im not knocking him im just saying i hear a lot of buzz around the guy but why did he fall so far? again not a knock just a question… and one thing about clements i def think he was worth the money i feel he played real well, remember true number ones dont ALWAYS get a lot of INTs cuz they dont have as many balls thrown their way cuz of good coverage, so they dont have as many opportunities (i know champ baily is a freak!!)

  • ShaneO said:

    PS
its nice to see some 49ers fans having a meaningful back and forth discussion!!! most of the time rather than just talkin rationally, one person gives their opinion and someone tears them a new asshole and then a battle of Your mama opens up… good football talk boys!!

  • cbr niner fan said:

I agree with ShaneO, it’s nice to have some good football talk ass opposed to all the trash talking to each other. Lets keep it this way.

Man I hope the niners do some uniform adjustments. Everyother team in the league has updated theirs 2-3 times already and we haven’t done squat. Time to change those things.

I think the staff did a good job getting what pieces they could to make the team better. The issues we’ve had the past few years weren’t going to be fixed with one offseason. We’re not there yet, but I think the team will be much better talent wise. And if Nolan can’t make a marked improvement with this team, then it’s not for lack of players and its time to move on.
