The 49ers signed 6th-round pick Josh Morgan on Thursday. It is a 4-year deal. No word yet on the amount of the deal.

Battle to return to OTA’s next week. He contacted coaches about missing them this week and stated it was due to “personal reasons.”

The 49ers visited with veteran linebacker Jeremiah Trotter this week. The team did not immediately sign Trotter, whose size could conceivably help a team beef up against the run on a situational basis.

David Baas, 26, projected as the starter at right guard, is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle.

The 49ers have signed free-agent guard Jeb Terry, who has played in 30 NFL games with one start. Terry was a fifth-round draft pick (No. 146 overall) of the Buccaneers in 2004 from North Carolina. He was cut during training camp last year and was out of the league.

The players have been participating in a pool workout today, which has provided for some hilarious comedy. Most of the workout takes place in the shallow end, but for the grand finale, full laps are required.

Matthew Barrows is reporting via the blonde chick over at .com that Isaac Bruce, Walt Harris and Jonas Jennings are not expected to take part in the majority of the team’s offseason program.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the 49ers will send wide receiver Darrell Jackson to the curb. This isn’t really a surprise since Stonehands Jackson couldn’t catch a cold last season.

The 49ers and DE Justin Smith (Bengals) have reached an agreement, but nothing has been signed. Deal is believed to be $32.5 million in the first four years of the contract, overall 6-years, $45 million. The signing of Smith immediately improves the 49ers horrid pass rushing defense.
