The 49ers won their third game of the season and first victory for interim head coach Mike Singletary. From the first half it was all 49ers. They ran the ball well, passed the ball well and didn’t have any stupid penalties or turnovers that hurt them.

At least I can stay healthy

Mike Nolan decided the cancel the afternoon practice today to give the players time to rest and heal up. This was the last practice of the two a days. Not much excitement during the practice.

  • JT O’Sullivan continued to lead the first team finishing 8 of 15 passes which included a nice 50 yard pass to Josh Morgan.
  • We found out Shaun Hill still knows how to take a snap from center as he and Alex Smith split time with the second team. Smith was 3 of 7 with a pick and Hill was 6 of 8.
  • Battle, Lelie, and Johnson did not practice. They are unlikely to play in Saturday’s game.

I will say it again and again, JT-O will be the starter when the season starts

NOLAN JUST NEEDS TO HURRY UP AND PICK A QB. HELL THEY MIGHT AS WELL TRY MICHAEL ROBINSON AT QB TO. HE WAS A QB AT PENN STATE. IN FACT HE WAS PLAYER OF THE YEAR IN HIS DIVISION WHEN HE WAS QB. JUST PICK A STARTER SO EVERY ONE CAN MOVE ON.

J.T. will start the season and lose games with bonehead turnovers. After a few games Nolan will get desperate and put in Smith or Hill and either of them will struggle because of never having gotten adequate reps with yet another brand new offense. This team wants to win real bad and they expect to win. When it doesn’t happen there will be a mutiny. I doubt Nolan will survive the entire season. I can see York sending him packing before it even ends.

when has a team ever gone into the season with a 3 man race like this and had success? never…

The Browns last year had a three man race once once Quinn ended his hold-out and finished one game shy of making the playoffs in the competitive AFC. Their initial starter was only such for one game and then was traded to Seattle, Charlie Fry. I also think I remember Dilfer being in a three man race for quarterback position even entering the season with Baltimore the year they won the Superbowl, not sure on that one though.
