What We Learned: Rams @ 49ers
Sun, 16/11/08 – 16:31 | 34 Comments

The 49ers won their third game of the season and first victory for interim head coach Mike Singletary. From the first half it was all 49ers. They ran the ball well, passed the ball well and didn’t have any stupid penalties or turnovers that hurt them.

49ers: The Official Sponsor of KY Jelly

Submitted by Niner Pundit on Friday, 26 October 200735 Comments

ky.jpgNewsflash! The refs blew lots of calls against the 49ers in the past few games. Not that this comes as any surprise, but it is always nice to see the refs bend the 49ers over and make them their bitch. Matt Maiocco had a nice write-up today talking about a few plays where everyone and their blind grandmothers knew the refs blew calls. Read Maiocco’s article for the full breakdown, but here are a few of the calls in question.

The first was Gerald Austin’s horsebleep call against Vernon Davis during the Steelers game that resulted in the first ass-raping.

Against the Giants the refs forgot that a Mathias Kiwanuka isn’t allowed to run over Delanie Walker before the ball gets to him, but of course they say it wasn’t catchable.

“That was shocking to me,” said Walker, who protested briefly. “The ref said it was uncatchable. But I could’ve caught it if he (Kiwanuka) didn’t run dead into me.”

Against the Ravens two blocks in the back on punt returns weren’t called and a horrible pass interference penalty against Shawntae Spencer kept the Ravens drive alive.

Of course these plays certainly weren’t the cause for the 49ers to lose, but they helped.

About to go read matt’s article, but Staley’s pancake block which was a beautiful sight, was a BS call, too. Even the announcer commented that just because the blocker was taken to the ground, the ref assumed he was held!

  • Lowrance said:

It’s painful when we’re losing to lose any leverage or any positive gains. We have to live with these calls. It’s especially hard when our offense has a hard time moving the ball.
We don’t have to like it though… #%$@!

  • Ryan the 1st said:

Yeah, we are really getting the short end of the stick on this situation…what is worse is that the NFL will DO NOTHING about it. We need to be given instant replay. What is the worst thing that happens….the refs actually make a correct call? Except in our case the refs look at the instant replay and STILL MESS IT UP!!! HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE? Even the foxsports announcers were saying, “WHAT? That is the one thing it can’t be” I have to admit the refs have really been doing a poor job of calling the game.

  • Lowrance said:

I saw this Subway commercial yesterday where the ref is making the call on the field. He admits that his call was incorrect, but will make up for it by calling something against the other team in the second half!!!
Sad that it sounds so close to the truth!

I think Dilfer should use some KY to help ease the steel anvil out of his ass. Only then might he be able to complete a three step drop in 10 seconds.

  • razoreater said:

it feels good to blame the refs, but when your so fuckin good on the field they don’t matter cuz u still kick their fuckin ass-weakness is a relative of excuses

  • StupidApologetics said:

    Amen razoreater!

See you all next year guys.this season is down the toilet.there is no reason to hang around unless we start scoring 20 to 30 points a game which is highly unlikely and the refs lighten up wich hasnt stop since football became a sport.Im sick of excuses.i still will be a 49ers fan , just not a diehard one anymore.i will wait till next season,”AGAIN” like always.

  • Ryan the 1st said:

Wow, that is really sad that you would jump ship like that. What are you going to do when we win this weekend? I am saying this because I a very confident that we are going to win. Clemens on Colston, Willis on Bush, and blitz, blitz, blitz!!!

  • Self Scientific said:

Clements should keep Colston in check fairly easily. The real show will be Willis on Bush; if we keep Bush under wraps we should be fine. I think with Lelie in there, Gore will go over a 100 yards. For some reason, Defenses are afraid of Lelie beating them deep.

It can’t get any worse boys; this is the perfect game to be optimistic for. We are at home, Smith wants to prove something, Lelie gets the start, and Gore is so close to a breakout game.

  • Bobby Boucher said:

It’s been more than a month since we have seen our team win. Let’s hope that this Sunday is the end of the slide. No more Dilfer; thank you baby Jesus!!! Let’s air it out early, run middle and late, and kick the shit out of the Saints! Willis is going to hit Johnson so hard he will forget he ever was a niner!

  • Ryan the 1st said:

Did you watch ESPN during the Football Friday portion? When Salisbury and that old fart (who knows absolutely nothing) were taking their picks the old fart said that GORE WAS THE PROBLEM!!! ESPN has officially lost all credibility as far as I am concerned. How could anyone with any football knowledge say something that DUMB??

  • AXEGRINDER said:

What pisses me off is that these ESPN analysists actually make alot of money to spew out this bullshit. It should be a fucking comedy routine, not an in-depth analysis like they claim.

As for this game coming up, the 49ers are going to win, pure and simple. It’s just a question by how much. The 49ers outweigh the Aints in almost every position. Plus they are at home and the fans aren’t going to stand for a shitty performance, and we’ll let them know it. I’ll be at the game, drunk and cheering.

P.S.- Those stupid refs owe us some calls, they better make good.

  • Medford said:

Theres one Saint Player I like its Charles Grant. Anyone here him on NFL Network he said that the 49ers r his favorite team he gave us much love. U could watch the interview at nfl.com click sf vs no on the top. Hopefully there would be someway we could get him next year we really need a pass rush…

  • Medford said:

    GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO 49ERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Eric said:

Well I’ve just accepted the fact that the NFL has a conspiracy against us. It could very well be possible. Look at the NBA refs

  • SanDiegoNiners said:

Yo Chad Johnson is about to be on the trading block, what if we got him, then for sure we would have a competitive offence with the best reciever in the League.

  • Medford said:

Hey guys check this out Scotty M said we had the best oline he had seen http://49ersnews.com/best-ol-ive-ever-been-around/

  • Ryan the 1st said:

I would love to land Chad Johson, but the asking price would be WAY TOO PRICEY. They would more than likely ask for our second rounder or for even more than that. We will get a receiver on the first day of the draft…hopefully. Furthermore, let’s hope Nolan starts get receivers that are taller than 6′1″. These short fast receivers aren’t getting it done. We NEED to get a tall receiver that we can throw the ball up to him and he will come back down with it. I say O line with our first, receiver with our second (unless a talent such as Dan Connnor falls into our lap…he would be a Godsend to replace D. Smith) then we go after another O lineman or D lineman depending on who is the better talent. To MEDFORD, the ducks better stomp on the University of Spoiled Children….I can’t stand the Trojans.

  • Ryan the 1st said:

By the way…bring this guy back soon. Yeah, he clashed with Nolan, but I hate to break it to Nolan…he isn’t going to agree with every player on his team. Meanwhile, the ship is sinking and our receivers are a primary reason…

former 49ers receiver Marcus Maxwell was promoted from the Bengals practice squad to their active roster No word on whether he’ll be active for tomorrow’s game against the Steelers

  • Dillon said:

Losing Maxwell, and not giving him a chance like Lelie was a mistake we’ll regret! He’ll do well in Cinci!

  • Dillon said:

Big Tall targets is were its at!

  • Dillon said:

Bring back antonio draft Big Recievers over 6′1. Look at Maurice Purify from nebraska. I nkow he’s in troulbe right know, but with dicipline he’ll be unbelievable. He’s 6′4 225 and diligent. Look at you tube under marcus maxwell highlights 2006. Just look at this playmaker, and he’s big and tall!

  • Self Scientific said:

What has Maxwell done in the NFL? Absolutley jack shit. Hey, I was a bad ass high school wrestler, but I got my ass kicked in college wrestling. Get the picture?

  • alex r said:

I live in houston, is there any way to watch the niners games on your pc.

  • Niners!!!!! said:

Sf is losin… again 17-0 right now

  • Niners!!!!! said:

I predicted them to lose this one anyways. And they still could make playoffs

  • Niners!!!!! said:

alex r, I don’t know where you could watch, but you can go to nfl.com and see the play by play list with the image of the field.

  • Danny said:

If we can’t beat the Saints, GOD i hate the 49ers so bad!

  • Niners!!!!! said:

O my fucking god! the saints are on fuckin fire. Every goddamn play they get 30 or more yards. Where’s our defense? Oh by the way our offense still sucks with alex smith.

  • Danny said:

    I can’t watch them anymore!

  • alex r said:

niners!!! thanks I started watching play by play on nfl.co but I think am going to stop, its to hard to watch this crap!!! Niners are making every team they play look like superbowl champs even if they suck. Niners total offense 87 yards.

  • Niners!!!!! said:

And to think that I actually believed in this team. Well in order to win now we need joe montana jerry rice, and the classic’s to make one hell of a comeback. Drew Brees is probally going to throw over 700 yards. This is like watching the colts of 2004,every play the saints have they gain BIG, and I mean HUMONGOUS chunks of yards! If you have Brees as your fantasy qb he just made up for all the interceptions he threw his first few games.
    24-0 HALFTIME

  • Danny said:

To any fan that still believes in this team, please tell me why? We can use every excuse in the book (bad calls, missing starters etc) but the bottom line is we are a horrible team. I have supported this team my whole life! I can’t find the words except to say this year has totally bomb. I truly belive i didn’t set the bar to high for the niners. I was thinking 9-7. Not great, but an improvement! We will be lucky to reach 4-12! This team in not going to come around this year. It kills me to say this…we will have to wait until next year!
