The NFL compensatory picks were announced and the 49ers received two of them. One at the end of round 3 for the loss of Julian Peterson and one at the end of the 4th for the free agent departure of Andre Carter. Here are the numbers for the 49ers 10 picks.

Round 3: No. 76, No. 97 (Peterson Comp)

No pick in round seven. Pick traded to Cleveland along with Ken Dorsey for Trent Dilfer.

First of all we only have two 3rd rounders this year and only one can be traded. Not only that, but we could not move up into CJ range with 3 3rd’s anyway, even if they were all in the same draft. Dumbass.

I’m sorry, but WE DON’T have ANY depth at D LINE. I AGREE….draft Willis even over Branch because we don’t want someone who sits plays out, but after that we need to get the most talented players available for d line. It is highly unlikely we are going to draft a d lineman in the second, but after that draft them. WE HAVE NO DEPTH AT D LINE. We have BY, Franklin, and Oliver….then WHO? WHO THAT IS QUALITY AND CAN MAKE AN IMPACT? The answer is simple, we don’t have any otherwise we wouldn’t have done so poorly in the sack category this last season. Anyone that says we are fine right now with the players we have to get to the quarterback (front 3) is not paying attention. We need new young talent.

Willis should definitely be the Man! Let’s not forgot about replacing Kwame though. If we could trade him and D. Smith, get Willis, then we’d be set. There are some sleeper wideouts out there to get in the later rounds.

Realistically, what would it take to get down to two? All the elements are there, we’ve got the glaring need, a shit load of picks, and a ready and willing trade partner in Detroit. Mike Ditka traded away the Saints entire draft for one player, Ricky Williams. That was a risk, this is a sure thing. A player like this doesn’t come along everyday. He’s got the best of Owens, Moss, and Harrison all rolled into one. Plus, every NFL fan would be jealous…can you imagine? Alex Smith, Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, and Calvin Johnson. I’m hard just thinking about it.

we trade our second round pick, third round pick and forth round pick and trade it for someones first round pick.then you take the two first round picks and a second round pick of next year and trade it to raiders for there first round pick and get calvin johnson.
GIVE UP!!!! WE aren’t drafting Jarrett….unless we trade with the Patriots. Jarrett isn’t talented enough to be taken with the 11th pick. Yes, he manhandled Leon Hall, but so did every other GOOD receiver at the collegiate level. Leon Hall only shut down wideouts that were the best on mediocre teams. Ginn and Jarrett ate him alive so that isn’t saying much about Hall either.
Like it or not we are going to be drafting for starters AND depth. Nolan just doesn’t strike me as a guy that is going to trade away all of his picks for 2-3 really good picks. That is just what I think, however. We have eight picks in the first four rounds….that NEVER happens. This is too deep of a draft to not take advantage of it. I would LOVE to have Calvin Johnson on our team, but he is going to cost us ALL of our picks to get him and that would be extremely dumb to do with a draft class this deep.
Hey Douche Bags. We are taking Jarrett unless he really blows on pro day. We need receivers! We have Lelie for the deep threat. Like him or not, he is our deep threat guy, thats why we signed him. Why everyone says Jarrett is slow baffles me. They said the same about a guy named Jerry Rice. We need a posession receiver guy that can work the middle with VD. Battle is not that guy. Landry will be gone. Branch has no work ethic, not Nolan-esque. Take receiver first and defense second. The draft is loaded with D. Most of the top flight receivers will be gone by the second round when we pick.
Mike if you REALLY think that Nolan is going to take Jarrett over Willis (if he is available) then you aren’t paying attention. The only way we are going to take a guy that in most mock drafts is being picked in the twenties is if we pull the Manny Lawson, which is possible. But, with the 11th pick I don’t see it happening. This draft is SO DEEP at receiver that we don’t NEED to pick one with our first pick A)because there is better talent available B)because we could pick up a receiver in the second round for sullivan to mold C)willis ran a 4.37, you don’t pass that kind of talent up. D)Jarrett has yet to prove that he can even run faster than a 4.6.
We shall see. Either way I would be happy, but I see Nolan looking to help Alex this year with a WR with the first pick and defense the rest of the way. Still a long way to the draft, a lot could happen. Douche bag.

West, I love it how you ALWAYS make sense. Jarrett I could live with, but….I would rather have Bowe or Meechum as well. However, if we want to do that then we need to pull the Manny Lawson and get back into the twenties because I believe that the receivers are going to start getting plucked at number twenty or twenty one. You KNOW the Chiefs are going to take a receiver and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Dallas get one as well even though they already seem pretty set at that position. Even if Jarrett runs under a 4.5 I still would rather have Bowe or Meechum for the purpose of toughness and they didn’t come from a program that makes them think that they are GOD’s gift to the sport of football.

Great position to be in headed into the draft. 4 picks inside of 100. I think we should move some picks and grab another in the Top 50. That kind of talent could really have us contending for supremecy among the NFL-

I don’t think Meechum will be drafted that I high. I would hope that we wouldn’t be that stupid to take him at 11. Willis is what we need. If we take Jarrett with a Manny Lawson type pick then I am fine with it (however, I would rather we got another receiver besides Jarrett). With the 11th pick we need defense. Drafting Jarrett with that pick would feed his “I’m from USC, so I deserve an outrageous amount of money” ego. He ISN’T WORTH IT!!! LET HIM GO!!!
Take Steve Smith in the second because he at least can put the burners on and has hands that are just as good as Jarrett’s. The only difference between them is Steve Smith is way faster and Jarrett is 3 inches taller.

The San Francisco 49ers appreciate a good thing when they see it. That good thing is their young Pro Bowl running back Frank Gore.
FOXSports.com has learned that the Niners have agreed to terms on a new five-year deal with their starting running back. Terms of the deal were not available, but the Niners didn’t have to lock up the youngster, as he still had time left on his rookie deal.
Now entering his third year, Gore rushed for an impressive 1,695 yards with eight touchdowns with 5.4 yards per carry last season. He overcame fumble problems earlier in the year to rebound with consistency. He’s also become a favorite of head coach Mike Nolan.
In addition to his rushing totals, he added 61 receptions in 2006.

NOW…..we have officially had the best offseason we have EVER HAD. You guys can argue it ALL YOU WANT, but the facts are that we have never revamped our team to this degree ever in the history of the franchise. I know bringing in Joe and Rice were big, but we have addressed SO MANY HOLES ON OUR TEAM that it isn’t even funny and we haven’t even had the draft yet. Let’s make some moves and move up some spots because if we can find gems like Melvin Oliver in the later rounds then just think what we can do with the picks we have this year.

We don’t have depth….BY is going to be used sparingly, Oliver is solid, and Franklin is a GREAT BACKUP NOSE TACKLE. Soap isn’t going to cut it….sorry, but thus far he hasn’t been doing the job. Douglas is alright.

49ers signed Frank Gore to a four-year contract extension through 2011. The deal includes a $6.5 million signing bonus, $14 million in guarantees, and a total value of $28 million.
Satan works his magic again. Considering Gore has a history of injuries and wasn’t a restricted free agent until next offseason, he did well to earn $18.212 million in the first three years of the deal and $14 million in guarantees. The structure of the deal is a rare one that actually makes it possible to be completed if Gore stays productive throughout. Gore will be well worth it if he just keeps up his pace from 2006.

David Harris is going to be better than patrick willis in a 3-4, willis runs fast behind his blockers, but in a 3-4 linebackers have to be able to engage lineman and get off blocks, Harris is a beast and is strong enough to do that, Michigan uses the 3-4 mixed in with the 4-3

Dwane Jarret is a playmaker, he isn’t that slow either, hes competitive and hes tough, he catches everything, wins jump balls, and breaks tackles… i would be very happy to get him, but not at 11, maybe if we traded up into the 20’s

The 49ers have lesser draft needs than they did at the outset of free agency, given that they’ve gone on a spending spree that featured the addition of cornerback Nate Clements and various other new players.
But, then again, we’re talking about the 49ers. So there is still ample room for improvement.
Receiver remains a significant area of need, given the departure of Antonio Bryant. They’ve added Ashley Lelie, but they need to do a lot more to conjure memories of days gone by in the Bay Area.
There are plenty of high-caliber pass catchers in this year’s crop, and the Niners should have their pick of any of them other than Calvin Johnson.
But the real needs are on defense, where the 49ers are likely to spend their first-round pick. Linebacker Patrick Willis could be a candidate, if he is still on the board. But he likely won’t be after running the 40 in under 4.4 seconds. Twice. Another possibility would be to nab David Harris in round two.
The team needs a solid nose tackle in order to justify a switch to the 3-4. Several are available in this year’s big, fat crop of crap factories.
Defensive end is also an area of need, given that mainstay Bryant Young is 43. Or something.
With Michael Lewis signed to play safety, the needs at the position are somewhat diminished. Still, they could use a young guy to beef up the defensive backfield, and it would be wise to use a first-day pick at this position.
Back on the offensive side of the ball, the Niners could use some youthful insurance at tackle in the event that doubts about the long-term value of Jonas Jennings are accurate.
In all, the 49ers generally seem to be on the right track. If the 2007 draft were to yield a couple of instant starters, the team could get even closer to a playoff berth than it did a year ago.
