The 49ers beat the Lions on Sunday 30-27, but they did everything they could to lose that game. Richard Sherman summed it up perfectly.
“A win is a win, but it feels like a loss. We played like crap down the stretch.”
The 49ers had a 30-13 lead with around 11 minutes left in the game, at that point they were outscored 14-0 and outgained 182-16. The 49ers got lucky when Jimmy Garoppolo threw what probably would have been a game losing interception, but thankfully a Lions defensive back was penalized for holding which negated the int.
This should have been a nice comfortable win, but both sides of the ball kept shitting the bed late in the game and 49ers were fortunate enough to get the W.
Matt Brieda: finished the day with 138 yards on 11 carries and 1 touchdown.
DeForest Buckner: 5 tackles, one sack
Richard Sherman: Only defensive back worth a damn right now, I’m not sure if Stafford threw once in his direction.
Rueben Foster: Foster is back next week and the defense could use him. Lee held his own today with 10 tackles and a strip sack, but he isn’t the answer at linebacker
Jimmy Garoppolo: He did throw for two touchdowns and didnt turn the ball over.
The defense: Like mentioned earlier, finished the game being outscored 14-0 and outgained 182-16
The offense: Jimmy Garoppolo was sacked 6 times, the WR could not get seperation and Garoppolo held onto the ball way to long.
Jimmy Garoppolo: Sacked 6 times, didnt throw the ball over, threw a late int that could have lost the game but was called back due to penalty.
Pass Rush: There wasnt any
Ahkello Witherspoon: He was abused all game, gave up big catches to Golden Tate, Marvin Jones and others. He was so bad he was benched for Jimmie Ward late in the fourth quarter
The 49ers better get their shit together, they travel to Kansas City next week to an offense led by Patrick Mahomes who has already thrown 10 touchdowns in two games.
