The 49ers defeated the St Louis Rams 23-13 at home to improve to 8-4 and maintain the one game lead for the last Wild Card spot.
The Rams shut down the 49ers run game (Gore 15 rushes 42 yards 1 TD) but had no answer for Colin Kaepernick and Anquan Boldin. Kaepernick finished the game 19 of 28 for 275 and 1 touchdown. Anquan Boldin had 9 receptions for 98 yards, but perhaps the best news was that Michael Crabtree made his season debut and had 2 catches for 68 yards.
On the other side of the ball the 49ers defense shut down the Rams offense, but gave up a garbage touchdown with 18 seconds left in the game. Before that touchdown the 49ers had not given up a touchdown since 1:58 remaining in the second half of the New Orleans Saints game.
Next weekend is a big game for the 49ers as the Seattle Seahawks come into town. The 49ers need to win that game to maintain their lead for the Wild Card and close the gap on the lead the Seahawks have in the division. - Joe Staley left the game with an injury, no update on the injury at this time. Not having Staley next week would hurt the run game along with passing game.
- The 49ers defense has given up 113 points since Week 3.
