49ers win Fifth in a row in London
The 49ers improved to 6-2 on the season by beating the Jacksonville Jaguars 42-10 in London. With the win the 49ers have won five in a row and they have tied a record with the 1994 and 1997 season by scoring 30+ points in five consecutive games.
The 49ers won once again behind the running of Frank Gore and Colin Kaepernick and a defense that shut down the Jags offense. Kaepernick finished the day 10 of 16 for 164 and a touchdown pass to Vernon Davis. He ran the ball seven times for 54 yards and two touchdowns. Frank Gore finished the day with 19 carries for 71 yards and two touchdowns. Gore’s counterpart Kendall Hunter had 9 carries for 84 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball the 49ers defense shut down the Jags offense gave up only 10 points. Chad Henne finished with 228 yards passing and Maurice Jones-Drew ran for 75. The defense also scored on a Dan Skuta fumble recovery for a touchdown.
- After this game Frank Gore now has 9,457 yards rushing in his career to pass Earl Campbell and Shaun Alexander to move into 30th place all-time. Next on the list Joe Perry.
- 49ers tied a team record for consecutive games scoring 30 or more points (five). Previously done in 1994 and 1997.
- With two rushing touchdowns today, it is the first time that Frank Gore has scored 2 rushing TDs in back-to-back games.
- Andy Lee had one and only one punt on the day.
