The 49ers announced today that they have traded wide receiver AJ Jenkins to the Kansas City Chiefs for wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin. Once both players pass their physicals, the trade is a done deal.
’We would like to thank A.J. for his efforts as a member of the 49ers and wish him all the best with the Kansas City Chiefs,’…’We are pleased to add Jonathan to our team and look forward to incorporating him into our offense. Both players have been presented a great opportunity for a new beginning with their respective teams.'
Baldwin was the 26th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. He has played in 26 games where he has recorded 41 receptions for 579 yards and two touchdowns.
The folks over at Over the Cap have a good breakdown concerning the cap implications.
The draft pick of AJ Jenkins may end up being worse then when they drafted Rashaun Woods, but we’ll have to wait and see if Baldwin produces anything.
