The 49ers and Colt McCoy bromance is about to be over. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com is reporting that the 49ers are making phone calls hoping to trade quarterback Colt McCoy.
Not a surprise: #49ers are making calls & trying to trade QB Colt McCoy. If no takers, a release is likely. They just signed Seneca Wallace

The 49ers acquired McCoy from the Browns in a trade where the 49ers gave up a 5th-rd pick and a 7th-rd pick in exchange for Colt McCoy and a 6th-round pick. Before people blast general manager Trent Baalke on the move, it should be noted that the 49ers used that 6th round pick in a package to move up and draft TE Vance McDonald.
Rapoport also reported that the 49ers and McCoy redid his contract to lower his base salary of $1.5 million to help his chances or either staying with the team or helping facilitate a trade.
Most will say that the 49ers will not likely get anything for McCoy in a trade, but word is that other teams are reaching out to the 49ers as well, since the QB market out there is not that great. Teams that come to mind are the Bills and Jets.
For now we wait.
