Mike Garafolo of USA Today Sports is reporting that free agent John Abraham is scheduled to fly to meet with the 49ers Friday afternoon. Abraham is currently in Seattle visiting the Seahawks.[box_dark]The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the travel plans weren’t to be discussed publicly, said the former Atlanta Falcons end is slated to fly to San Francisco later Friday for his meeting with the defending NFC champions.[/box_dark]
Four-time pro bowler Abraham turns 35 in May and was recently released by the Atlanta Falcons. Abraham, who has 122 career sacks, would move to the outside linebacker position. If the 49ers signed the 6-foot-4, 263 pounds defensive lineman, he would most likely rotate with outside linebackers Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks.
NFL free agency begins tonight at 9:00 pm PST where teams can talk to the players agents prior to the official start of free agency, March 12th.
