Superbowl week is upon us

Well Niner fans, the time has finally come. After 18 years we get another chance to watch the 49ers hoist another Lomardi trophy.

Just think that this Sunday the 49ers are in Superbowl XLVII. The first time in 18 years that we honestly care about the outcome of a Superbowl. We aren’t going to watch it just for the commercials, or to see if our bet on the coin toss wins. No, we’ll be watching it to see if Colin Kaepernick can join Joe Montana and Steve Young as Superbowl winning quarterbacks. We’ll watch it to see if Frank Gore finally wins it after being on crappy teams for so long. We’ll be watching to see them win Number 6.

All the heartache over 18 years can end after 60 minutes on Sunday. The thoughts of Kwame Harris, Curtis Conway, Dennis Erickson, Terry Donahue, Ken Dorsey, Gabe Wilkins, Brandon Whiting, Otis Amey, and Jim Druckenmiller just to name a few. Gone, but not forgotten.

All those seasons where we longed for just being 8-8. The sadness we felt when the Rams, Seahawks or Cardinals won the NFC West. All of that can be put behind us after 60 minutes on Sunday. Win or lose, it’s a great time to be a 49ers fan.
