This game was all Frank Gore. The 49ers went back to what they do well and that is give Frank Gore the ball. He finished the day with 131 yards rushing, 182 total yards. He didn’t have a score but his yards were the difference in this game. Along with Gore the defense stepped up big time in the 2nd half and completely shut down Russell Wilson.
Speaking of Russell Wilson how about that Russellmania. Yeah he has two game winning touchdowns at the end of the game…okay one the other was an interception. But it is clear that Russell Wilson is one of the most overrated Quarterbacks in the game. He finished the day 9 of 23 for 122 and one interception. Not to mention he had one completion for positive yards in the 2nd half.
The defense did allow Marshawn Lynch to rush for over 100 yards, the first time the 49ers defense allowed back to back 100 yards since 2006, but Lynch didn’t get a score so the Skittles stayed on the sidelines.
The main concern with this team is still Alex Smith. I like Alex and so want him to succeed, but in the 3rd quarter the 49ers had a chance to go up 17-6 but Alex Smith waited on hitting a wide open Randy Moss in the endzone and threw an interception. That gives Alex five on the season, the same amount he threw all season.
The 49ers are now 5-2 on the season, first place in the division, 1-0 in the West and the Seahawks fall to 4-3 and 0-3 in the West. The 49ers have 10 days off to rest and get the offense on the same page before they face the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night.
So happy to end tonight with the W, it was hard fought, both defenses played their ass, but the vaunted Seahawks run defense had no answer for Frank Gore and that was the difference.
Almost forgot Jim Harbaugh owns Pete Carroll…
