The 49ers received quite a scare during Friday’s night win over the Minnesota Vikings. Not long into the first quarter starting OLB Aldon Smith landed hard on his hip and left the game due to injury. At the time the severity of the injury was unknown, the 49ers took precaution when they had Aldon carted back to the locker room. It was reported after the game Aldon was being assisted by two walking canes, which at the time didn’t sound good.
Coach Harbaugh was asked about Aldon’s injury and it was reported as a ‘hip bruise’ and that early reports were the 49ers had ‘dodged a bullet’ with how bad the injury could have been.
Harbaugh told the media that Aldon would be out maybe a week or so. But he thought he’d be back in a week, but they’ll see.
In other words, Aldon’s injury isn’t that serious and he could be back sooner than expected, but the 49ers will be cautious and let Aldon get all the rest he needs and most likely site him for the remainder of preseason and him ready for the season opener in Green Bay.
