Terrell Owens Wants to Finish Where it Started

I came across this nice little piece on Terrell Owens from the Bay Area Sports Guy. Owens was interviewed by Brandon Tierney and Eric Davis on 95.7 FM “The Game”. It will not air until Monday, but Bay Area Sports Guy received a transcript via email:

Would you have been a better fit with the 49ers (in response to the team taking a chance on Randy Moss):

Owens: “Would I have loved to have ended my career there, obviously signing a 1 or 2 year deal, absolutely. I think that definitely would’ve been enough motivation for me to perform at a high level but I’m going to do that regardless but to end your career where you started that would’ve been icing on the cake. It is what it is at this point. I don’t make those decisions and they were well aware I was out there so they felt they had the best man on their roster”

Owens or Moss, not sure what you are going to get with either, but the 49ers felt Moss was a better fit at this point.

Raiders-Niners, I know you have relationships on both sides of the bay and I’d imagine you’d be willing to play for either but if you had a preference, which would you prefer to play for?

Owens: “If I had to prefer a team I’d probably want to end where I started but other than that that’s not possible but at the same time, anything can happen. That being said there’s really only one team left in the Bay Area who I haven’t played for that really at this point in time is a viable option and that’s the Oakland Raiders. Given the opportunity if that’s on their radar for me to come in and help them win some ball games and ultimately help them try to win a championship then I’ll take that challenge on. I definitely feel I have a lot of football left in me. I think Carson knows that. The guys that saw me running around, those receivers, they saw me first hand so it’s just a matter of someone giving me an opportunity to make that happen. If that’s the case with the Raiders I’ll assess that when the time comes.”

It would have been nice to see Owens finish his career where it all started, but considering the 49ers had multiple opportunities to sign Owens. It is safe to say that ship has sailed.

The Pundit of 49ersNews. I do what I can to supply the Niner fans with their fix.

PRIMADONNA! The first word that comes to mind when this overrated ego known as TO gets mentioned. Had stood by the guidance of the Great Jerry Rice, Owens may have actually amounted to so much more than a loud mouth, uncontrollable ego and a crappy team player. Tim McKyer was another like Owens, he could not control his mouth and was sent packing. One of the things that has kept me loving the 49ers is they are about the team and not the trash talk. I cannot remember the guys name but he was a running back had a problem with beating on women. Again sent packing. Niners are a class orginazation and I love them for that!

The organization is a class act!I wish every pro player had a season with the 49er's to better understand the quality of professional football this organization offers to players and fan's alike!

Owen's had his chance with the greatest professional sports franchise! Who could blame him to want to return to where it all started? After all, the 49ers did give him a chance when he was struggling to even catch the ball early in his career, he was not cut after dropping pass after pass from Young and then redeeming himself against GreenBay in the playoffs! No, giving Moss the nod instead of Owen,s is the right decision for this years super bowl run! Owen,s, you had your chance, now it's Moss!
