The 49ers beat the Rams 34-27 and clinched the No. 2 in the NFC, but they didn’t make it easy on us fans today.
The Rams went up 7 on their first drive and the 49ers gave up a rushing touchdown to Kellen Clemens, after that it was all 49ers until 6 minutes left in the game. Down 34-13, the Rams scored on a Brandon Lloyd touchdown, then recovered an onside kick and got some help from the refs on a pass interference call. They then got another rushing touchdown to put the game at 34-27.
From there the 49ers went three and out and the Rams had a chance to tie it, but NaVorro Bowman sacked Clemens and took him out of the game.
Overall it wasn’t the prettiest game. They got two turnovers and did score touchdowns, but it seemed at the end they let up and let the Rams get back into it. Hopefully this helps the team going into the playoffs. There are still some things to work on, mostly on offense, but with a bye week hopefully the offensive players are rested up and ready to play.
The 49ers now have two weeks off to prepare for the Saints, yes the Saints as they will most likely beat their opponent during Wild Card weekend….but at this point it’s nice to celebrate the playoffs and the bye.
