The West is Won

The 49ers won their 10th game of the season by shutting out the St Louis Rams 26-0. With that win the 49ers have clinched the NFC West and are making their first trip to the playoffs since 2002.

The 49ers offense made it rough in the first half only putting up 9 points. They had 3 trips in the redzone but couldn’t convert a TD, but the second half was a whole different story. Alex Smith threw 2 touchdown passes over 50 yards to both Michael Crabtree and Kyle Williams. Smith finished the day with a career high 142.3 QB rating. Smith wasn’t the only part of the offense, Frank Gore finished the day with 73 yards rushing and in doing so passed Joe Perry as the 49ers all time leading rusher.

On the defensive side of the ball they completely shut down the Rams, they allowed only 31 yards rushing and extended their record of not giving up 100 yard rusher to 34 and 12 games not giving up a rushing touchdown.

The 49ers are in the playoffs, but now they need to keep winning to secure a first round bye. Congrats go out to Jim Harbaugh and all the 49ers….
