The 49ers have released wide receiver Braylon Edwards. Here is the official statement from Edwards.
“I was released today by the 49ers due to my injury that required more time to rehab and hasn’t allowed me to re-sync with the offense,” Edwards wrote. “I wish the 49ers organization the best of luck during the Playoffs. I will be working hard this off season to strengthen my knee and prepare for the 2012 season. Thanks for your continued support and for being such loyal fans.”
Edwards never quite got back into the thick of things after injuring himself in the Week 2 game against the Cowboys.
No word on who will replace Edwards on the active roster, but signs are pointing to practice squad TE Konrad Reuland, who will most likely move up to replace Delanie Walker who suffered a broken jaw against the Seahawks last weekend.
