8 and 1
If you were to tell me the 49ers would win 27-20 against the Giants and Frank Gore would have zero yards rushing, I would not have believed you.
The 49ers moved to 8 and 1 on the season behind the arm of Alex Smith and a defense that held off Eli and the Giants late in the game. Frank Gore had 0 yards on 6 rushes, but the story was how the offense came out throwing and throwing and throwing. Smith was 19 of 30 for 242 and 1 TD. It seemed the gameplan was to not run as the Giants defense schemed for.
On the other side of the ball the secondary gave up yards to Eli, but when they needed to they delivered. They intercepted Eli Manning twice, but the play of the game was on 4th and 2 with 1:05 left, when Justin Smith batted Eli’s pass down, thus sealing the victory.
The 49ers are 8-1 for the first time since 1997. And this win was their 7th in a row and next week they face NFC West opponent Cardinals. 9 and 1 would look pretty sweet heading into Thanksgiving.
With the 49ers on a roll and likely to make a run in the playoffs, what better time than now to go out and buy some tickets to 49ers games
