Beasts and Bitches: Week 6 – 49ers vs Lions
For this week’s Beasts and Bitches, we thought about it long and hard and decided no one on the 49ers would be a bitch. Despite the offensive struggles and the 15 penalties. The team was down 10 in a hostile environment, and committed 15 penalties and overcame that to win their third road game in a row. The Defense as a whole stands out this week as true Beast as well as the rest of the 49ers, but we’ll single out those that really stood out.
Beasts:
- Frank Gore – At one point Gore had 120 yards on 6 carries. Finished the day with 140 and a TD.
- Patrick Willis – Willis didn’t have his typical high tackle game, but he made some great plays on the ball and broke up some nice passes.
- Andy Lee – Lee had 9 punts and 4 of those were inside the 20. He was giving the 49ers great field position.
- Aldon Smith – 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and a safety. He has 5.5 sacks in basically 3 games.
- Justin Smith – 1.5 sacks, and his motor was running all day.
- David Akers – Akers was 3/3 on FG and hit a 55 yarder just before half to put the 49ers on top.
- Tarell Brown/Carlos Rogers/Chris Culliver – These three shutdown the mighty Megatron. Kept him out of the endzone for the first time this season.
- Jim Harbaugh – For having a strong handshake.
Bitches:
- Calvin Johnson – Yes he had over 100 yards but he only really had one big play. He was shutdown by the 49ers secondary.
- Matt Stafford – He threw two passes away because he was scared of the pressure, but the best was when he laid down and took the sack when Ahmad Brooks came his way.
- Ndamukong Suh – The NFL badass player had two assists all game, and could handle the crap Anthony Davis gave him all day.
- Jim Schwartz – For not being able to handle a strong handshake or getting one upped by another coach on his home turf.
