The 49ers did something they have only done 4 times since 2003. That is win on the road against a non-divisional opponent. The win wasn’t pretty, but when the team needed points and needed a stop, they did just that.
The game started with the Bengals marching down the field and Andy Dalton was completed passes at will but the defense held in the redzone and the Bengals only walked away with 3. After that drive the defense shut down the Bengals. On the offensive side of the ball the offense struggled early. Smith was sacked 6 times and threw some not so great passes, but when the offense needed a score to take the lead, he drove the team and did just that. The running game again struggled. Gore failed to get holes and fumbled at a crucial time, but thankfully Kendall Hunter found one and found the endzone.
Again not a great overall performance, but they did what they needed to win and you can’t really argue with that.
