The 49ers decided not to pull the trigger on UFL QB Daunte Culpepper but instead opted to sign UFL QB Josh McCown instead. McCown played for the Hartford Colonels last year, but on the plus side he was the highest ranked QB in the UFL.
The last time McCown put on an NFL uniform was back in 2009, when he played for the Carolina Panthers. Prior to that McCown played for the Cardinals, Lions, and Raiders.
McCown will come in and compete for the 3rd string QB job. When asked by reporters his thoughts on the 3rd string job. McCown responded by saying no one holds a clipboard better than he does.
