Baas and Spikes Hit the Road
In less than 24 hours the 49ers have loss Takeo Spikes and now it is being reported that David Baas is heading to the Giants. It isn’t surprising that Spikes wasn’t re-signed, the team has Navorro Bowman waiting in the wings, but letting Baas go when you have no other viable center is mind boggling.
Once it was reported that Eric Heitmann would miss yet another year, it seemed like a lock for David Baas to get re-signed. Well so much for that. My guess is if the season were to start today Tony Wragge would be the 49ers starting center with maybe competition from UDFA Chase Beeler.
After Baas and Spikes, looks like Aubrayo Franklin and Manny Lawson are next to go. All I gotta say is it will be an interesting season, with lots of new faces lining up on opening day.
