Nice Smokescreen Jed…

The latest rumblings regarding the 49ers GM position seem to suggest that current VP of Player Personnel Trent Baalke is the frontrunner to land the GM position.

I know the majority of fans are saying WTF? And who can blame them. We all sat and watched Jed York talk about change. Listened to him say that he would scour the league and find the right man for the job. So much for that right Jed?

Jed was truthful when he said that the new GM would hire the next HC. I still believe that, the thing is the GM that Jed hires will most likely be hired because he wants the same head coach that Jed wants. It’s almost a guarantee that Jim Harbaugh is the man Jed wants and why risk bringing in a GM who doesn’t think Harbaugh is the right choice.

The more I think about it, the more I believe that Jed already had Harbaugh in mind weeks ago and that all the talk of the GM was just a smokescreen in making us believe there would be big change. Jed wanted Harbaugh and he then sought after someone for the GM role he is comfortable with, and one he can control. Thus why Trent Baalke is the frontrunner for the position.

Now don’t get me wrong I have nothing against Baalke, he may be a great GM, but after this organization has failed over the past 8 years he is the guy who is to help right this ship? Seems to me Jed would go out and get a proven GM like he said he would.

We shouldn’t really be surprised by anything of this. It is basically the SSDD.
