49ers Win in London
The 49ers win in London. No that is not a typo. The game started off as a snoozefest, but right around late in the 3rd quarter the game started getting interesting.
The 49ers came out running like they normally do and struggled against a Broncos rush D that is ranked in the bottom of the league. Frank Gore had a couple nice runs, but outside of that the same run up the middle garbage that we have all grown accustomed to.
The defense bent but did not break, Kyle Orton got his yards but came up with some solid stops when they needed to.
Now onto Troy Smith, Smith came in and didn’t look any better than the other QB’s they have put out there, but late in the game it seemed that he woke up and found his groove. It didn’t hurt that the 49ers needed a score to tie, which finally opened up the playbook and gave Smith a chance to show what he can do with the play in the air.
Not sold on Troy Smith yet, would like to see more out of him. He certainly isn’t the long term answer, but you have to at least see enough of him to see if he can stick around next year.
