How embarassing. The 49ers dropped their 4th in a row today to the Tennessee Titans. That’s right the 49ers got beat at home to a team with the worst passing defense in the league and a team that is quarterbacked by Vince Young.
Where do I begin. Playcalling was crap, offensive line was crap, quarterback was crap (3 INTs and a fumble), secondary couldn’t stop big pass plays by Vince Young. I know I’m forgetting something else.
Can’t wait to hear Mike Singletary’s spin on this one. So much for being ‘Physical’ with an ‘F’.
The saddest part is the Titans got 24 points off of turnovers.
I think we we're really lucky to win that game... the defense wasn't great. They let gradkowski and campbell chuck ...

Our best chance to win this year is Hill and an opened up Mike Martz Style of Offense or at least more of the spread offense. Do you remember Last year????? Hill 5 and 3 as starter, way more attempts and offensive numbers were way better by 60 or more yards, better passer rating, etc. This year the team is 3 and 5 now and what i’m suggesting has not even been attempted this yeah …… Let me say it again Hill and a higher percentage of the spread offense….. Our best chance this year…….. Nobody can say that this has been done as a game approach this year……… And we’re suppose to be getting better………..

I think jason hill needs to play more. I didnt think he was but Isaac Bruce is done. Put in nate davis if the niners lose to the bears this thursday (only bc its a short week- not good for a qb change).

Please, two of the picks were tipped balls that bounced off the WR’s hands…that’s not the fault of Alex Smith.
The O-line still has issues, and it showed today.
Our defense lacks a SS, and a FS…we’re going to need those if we want to succeed.
We also lack a pass rusher, Haralson is not, and will never be the answer.
All these knee-jerk reactions that Smith is crap is unfounded. Watch the game, and you’ll see that there were problems everywhere. It was a bad game, but showed potential. Calm down, take a breath, and think things through.

Jimmy Raye mixed it up but when you’re a “run-first” team with a “can’t block for shit” offensive front, you’ve got your priorities mixed up.

I like what he tries to do in run support but when he got sucked up on Chris Johnson’s longest run of the day when he could have held containment was ridiculous.
Adam Snyder & Chilo Rachal getting roasted worse than Flava Flave on a regular basis was embarrassing.
Our overall inability to get any kind of push running the ball due to missed assignments and a lack of talent is obvious.
So, No. We don’t have all the pieces. These are huge weaknesses that teams are going to exploit until we incorporate the right people into our system.

There is very little chemistry between Alex Smith and his WR’s…thanks to the QB battle in TC, and Shaun Hill becoming the starter. Things don’t just magically become great, it takes time and patience.

To say that the recievers aren’t used to nfl caliber arm strength is a poor excuse. Chemistry could be a part of the equation but the difference between the tipped balls being picked off and being incomplete is Alex looking at the reciever to soon and locking on. That lets the safeties or surrounding players get into the area of the tips. But Shaun Hill does have marginal arm strength.

It’s funny… some of the people calling for Smith to be replaced in this post are the same people that were calling for Shaun Hill to be replaced a couple weeks ago…
For the record I didn’t I personally say that. I said they needed to make change based on there bullshit run Philosophy without two quality running backs….. That if there going to keep putting a QB in 3rd and long situations Alex has better arm strength. But it doesn’t matter because when you put the QB in that situation, Alex in this case, you run a high risk of throwing an INT. Shaun would take the sack. But the problem is the play calling on 1st and 2nd down >> Like the commentator said today… We have the highest rate of third and longs…. I Hill is a better QB but with Rayes offense it would be hard for any QB >> I will say this until it happens or Hill is gone or a new QB is drafted….. If you all want to see Alex ride it out for the rest of the season, sure – whatever, I can live with that. What I’m saying is that 2-3 weeks from now, if the results stay the same, we’d be retarded not to get Nate the game time reps to close out the season.
3-5 isn’t a lost season. Losing 4 straight is what gets me. WTF? Of the 8 remaining games, 5 are well within reach of a W. The other 3, not so good. With out going into some bull-shit in-depth week to week break down, 8-8 is what we could be looking at. That’s not going to get us into the playoffs but holy shit it’s shy of our early season expectations…
alex smith is hard to figure out man seriously…one day he will look like he’s going to start to be a good qb n then reality sets in and he does shit…the o-line is still shit and until that is fixed the offense will look pathetic…u can put peyton manning back there and he would look like alex did…however i do feel that its time to draft a qb and move on from this experiment…maybe nate davis is the guy who knows but we need a stud at qb to take us to the next level…also the coaching staff needs to be tweaked…singletary is a good MOTIVATOR head coach? not sold on it…we need to bring in an offensive minded head coach that knows what the hell hes doing with the talent we have…it takes a whole lot of pressure off your defense when your offense puts up 35-40 pointa a game..just look at indy n the saints they seem to be doing pretty good

I agree, Sing is a GREAT motivator but I think hes in over his head as a head coach. I was wondering why Lettermen kept doing those skits where you see the guy playing Sing repeating everything someone was yelling out. Now I understand, hes not in total control like a head coach should be. He lets Raye have total control of the offense and mostly controls the defense. I dont think he has much knowledge as far as offense and I dont blame him one bit. He was a LB and would be one hell of a defensive coordinator. We need to get a real Head Coach in here and hire Holmgren as GM. McClueless needs to go to and he can take Kentwan Balmer and his #1 overall pick with him. Worst picks ive ever seen. I cant believe we passed on Desean Jackson in the 2nd round and now hes tearing it up with the Eagles. Good news is, if your looking for a QB in next years draft, theres NO WAY to screw it up! Thanks to this game I am now down with football this year…. 4 in a row …. the sad thing is I really thought we would have a chance at be the NFC west champs ….. I did not think we would last long in the playoffs but would make them….. The 9ers are a team that can hold the colts from scoring more than 20 points and they turn the ball over and lose to a team that only had one win on the year… I bleed red and gold and its said too say that I now need a transfusion because it seems all I do is bleed “4 damn weeks in a row” I have no faith in our team….. I have mad respect for Gore,Davis and Willis and I believe in Sing. but its time he makes some big moves….. I am not gonna hate on Alex from what I seen only one of the picks was his fault and I believe he going too work out well for us….. Our D needs too step up I know they are on the field way to much but D’s win championships!! And I think if our Ray is the worst OC in the NFL he needs too go…… I am done trying too look at well it was close or hey maybe next week….. Singletary is a great motivator but I dont think hes a real Head Coach. Having said that, I dont think Jed is going to give up on him yet. We are still far away from Playoff Contention, Sing was trying to sell a LIE. Two biggest problems we have are Scott McClueless and Alex Smith. Those two need to seriouisly get the fuck out of Niner Land. Tired of lousy picks in the draft and tired of lousy picks (INT’S) on the field. Get rid of some overpaid and underachieving players and replace with some STUDS in next year’s draft and thru free agency. We are getting there but if we continue to stick with McClueless and Alex Smith we will NEVER get there.

Acquire a young FS that can actually COVER the middle of the field and be a presence on this D. Get a CONSISTENT PROVEN pass rusher, not a draft pick PROVEN!!! I want to see how Alex does these final games before I bash him. Nate will not start for the upteenth time!!! Its Alex or someone else not on this roster, simple as that!

Shaun Hill=washed up journeyman. Alex Smith=bust #1 draft pick…the kid stares down his receivers, doesn’t scan the field well, holds the ball to low….he’s shown 0 ability to be the 49ers QB now or, in the future….he’s a choke artist too. Ever see Brodie, Montana or, Young perform to this level after 5 years in the league? What did they have in common?? They were winners and had the ability to “pull it off.” Let’s be realistic, we’re 3-5 and we know, both Hill and Smith are not going to help our offense grow….we need a new QB (and I’m not a rush to snap judgement dude either) and we need to give Nate a chance. We have 8 games remaining, he’s watched 1/2 the season from the sidelines. He’s built like Big Ben, has a cannon for an arm and nothing but a high upside. Start building around Nate now and quit screwing around with Hill or Smith. I’ve played college ball and watched the 49ers for 45+ years; anyone who knows the game, can see Hill and Smith are not winning QB’s….despite our lines problems…basic fundamentals like throwing the ball away, not staring at a receiver; THESE GUYS DON’T PERFORM….Smith’s a choke artist…See want you got with Nate, Coach Singletary and that will give you a leg up going into next years draft and those 2 #1’s.
Smith constantly threw into 2-3 man coverage or, when a defender was draped all over a receiver…he has inconsistent “touch” and stares at his primary receiver…he looks at 1-2 receivers typically and makes it easy for the DB’s to key on his targets….this is basic QB fundamentals and Smith doesn’t have it. He’s not a winning NFL QB, despite how much we all want him to succeed and unfortunately, despite the 49ers large investment. He’s a bust.

At least Hill went in and contributed in his first game this year against AZ, the reigning NFC champs, in AZ, who is looking pretty good this year and came out with a win and also did pretty good in the next 3 games after that. And what does it say about Hill that he can’t keep his starting job over Smith. And Hill had more than 1 and a half bad game. Did you not see his throws. He can’t throw, Alex can’t really either, but Hill has a noodle arm and his numbers sucked. It was obvious that teams figured him out and he was regressing, he wasn’t getting better, he was getting worse.
I agree, they BOTH suck. But to give Hill credit he is 7-1 at home atleast while Alex is 0-7 his last 7 freakin starts. Not to say Hill is any good, im just saying we have a much better record with him. No Alex didnt have a horrible game against the Colts, but on that last crucial drive where we couldnt afford ANY mistakes, he overthrew his targets twice in a row which do doubt killed any chances of us ever tying the game. Having said that, I HATE both QB’s and cant understand why Sing and company cant see that these 2 QB’s are so medicore and mediocre doesnt cut it in the NFL. It might work in college or the CFL but it doesnt work if you want to win and go deep in the playoffs in the NFL. Ive had it with both QB’s especially with Alex. Weve stucked with this bum way too long, way longer than Hill, its time to see what the rookie can do. Unless Sing wants to be stubborn and end up 6-10 or another 7-9 season behind Alex as our starter.
If Hill had the same colts game people would dog him more than Alex thats the truth >> That game we were 2 for 10 on third down conversions and Alex at least met his quota of one pick…..

I think the team is in a horrible situation. Despite Sing’s denials, Smith lost this game for us. Even so, to be fair, Sing will give him more games to prove himself–perhaps the whole rest of the season, unless he persists in theJTO imitation, in which case Sing will go back to Shaun Hill.
Either way, I have zero faith that we have the guy to lead SF to the promised land. I like Hill, but he is really just a good backup due to limited arm. Smith has the arm, but doesn’t seem to have the the mental makeup of a winning QB. And I have a strong feeling that he will never develop this. If I am right, we will end up at the end of the season just about where we were a year ago: With nuthin but a backup QB.
Crazy as it may seem, I hope Nate Davis gets some playing time soon. We need to know whether he has a future, and the way this season is going, there is no reason not to find out now.

There is a difference. Raye is no Martz. Martz can make anyone look good…yes even Hill. Only reason Hill looked remotely decent last year was because of Martz. Take away Martz and Hill is dogshit.

It is clear that neither Smith or Hill can take this team where it needs to go. It is definately time for us to see what nate can do. We need to evaluate this to determine if we need to spend those number ones on a quarterback. It doesnt make sense to end the season and not know if he could be the guy. If nate can do the job, we can use the 2 first round picks on the offensive line, if he can’t then we should get colt mccoy.

Anyways, He will be the starter for the rest of season because he is easily our best option over Noodle Arm and the 5th round draft pick.
