MMP: Tampering and More…

This week’s Monday Morning Punter starts off with a grievence filed by the 49ers against the New York Jets for tampering charges. The 49ers may believe the Jets contacted Crabtree’s agent, Eugene Parker, to let him know they’d be interested in trading for his rights, or in drafting him in 2010 with a better salary than San Francisco is offering.

Monday Morning Punter is named after perhaps the greatest punter of our time. Andy 'The General' Lee. We'd like to thank Andy on his recent Pro Bowl selection and we know deep down inside he made it just for us.

Ahhh, it’d be great to get the Jet’s first rounder for all this… 3 first rounders would make a great package (hell, just 2 would) to move up and get a franchise QB…

who knows if the panthers keep loseing we might not have to trade up

    • Josh says:

Might as well plan on trying to trade him. If other teams have told him or his agent they would pay him that money, he isnt going to sign. I hope jets did tamper and we recieve some sort of compensation. We don’t need douchtree. It’s all about the defense this year.

If Crabass goes back into the draft next year what does the Niners get in return? Man I am tired of these 1st Rounders making more money than the Leagues MVP. Someone should tell Crabass what happens to players who sit out a year…ummm M. Clarett for example.

  2. GoBears1974 says:

I firmly believe that Crabtree does not want to play in SF regardless of money. Maybe with the tampering charges, we can get something (draft pick) that we might otherwise not have. We have two #1’s next year and free agency (the better we do the more attractive we are) and hopefully some extra cap space with not having to pay Crabtree. In the modern day NFL, Crabtree’s poor decision will ultimately have no bearing on the ultimate success of the 49ers. The negative effect of this will be squarely and solely on the shoulders of Mr. Crabtree. Play on!

GoBears1974, I think you are right on it! Crabtree does not want to play in SF, and quite frankly, its pretty obvious. Why would someone go to the ‘extreme’ and hold out an ENTIRE SEASON for a few million dollars. Of course he is not gonna go out and say ‘I dont wanna play here’, but the writing is on the wall people! This Offense does not suit him well and with all due respect Michael, you are truly one of the biggest BITCHES on this planet!!

  4. NinerPaul says:

Does anyone know if we can make a deal with another team for them to pay him what he wants, then after signing him, trade him to that team for some upgrade on the D ends and D line? Some team that might be deep on the D line that needs a reciever?

    • Niner Pundit says:

I believe this can only happen after March 1st and a little time period before the draft. At that time I’m sure they could take with teams privately and see. Not completely sure. Will be interesting to see what happens.

  5. Don Juan De Marco says:

My take on it is, maybe he has a plan with the Cowboys that we don’t know about. It is Deon Sanders, who is his close confidont and mentor, and Deon has a love fest for that orginization and Jerry Jones. Those hicks are always tryig to steal our players in the past, and maybe they think were on to somethin, and seeing a Texas product in San Fran, I’m sure that’s driving Jones absolutly nuts with envy! Maybe Crabtree is just holding out knowing this, and he is thinking he can play for the cowbillies back in his home town of Dallas. You know groing up a cowboys fan, having his relatives in his close circle, and Deon to boot, their probably not too happy about him playing for the 49ers, I am sure that makes their blood boil deep inside, their arch rival! Thats just an idea, it makes alot of sense! He never seems too happy during interviews and such, he always seems like he is not grateful, and the way this economy is, and people out of work, he needs to very grateful, because the Lord Givith and he take Away! So wise up Crabtree!

  6. rotohawk says:

I completely agree with what Jerry Rice said about Crabbytree not going to have the respect of the team if he plays since they didn’t go through the hard times of training camp together. I miss Jerry Rice. Crabtree doesn’t deserve to wear the same uniform.

I guess Craptree did not remember the 2005 draft when the Niners picked Alex Smith over Aaron Rodgers? Rodgers was picked at #21 by the packers? In fact, QB Matt Jones went before him at #21 by the jaguars. Did Rodgers cry he was not picked #1 and demand #1 money from the packers? No, he sucked it up, and PROVED himself on the field first. This Craptree guy is going to turn out to be another T. Owens – go from team-to-team until this diva is happy (which will never happen).

  8. dosia510 says:

im totally convinced that this piece of shit does not wanna play with the niners. for whatever the reason may be. whether its because of tampering from another team or cuz he is that much of a cowbitch fan n jerry jones is whispering sweet nothings into his ear while tony homo serves them strawberries singing YMCA. iv never wished injury or a bad career on ANYONE, but this time i really wish this guy ends up like maurice clarett or bobby brown, whatever is worse to him.
