49ers Send Jet to Pick Up Warner

According to Matt Maiocco the 49ers are very serious about acquiring MVP QB Kurt Warner.

The 49ers had a private jet waiting for them in Arizona, and the Warners are flying into San Jose Jet Center, it has been learned. They should arrive in the South Bay around 11:30 a.m.

Then, the Warners will take a limo 6.2 miles to the 49ers’ team offices in Santa Clara.

The Pundit of 49ersNews. I do what I can to supply the Niner fans with their fix.
  • Forensics187

Please Singh!!! Then we draft Stafford or Sanchez and groom one of them for two years.

  • Bobby Boucher

Why would we waste our first round pick on a QB if we get

Warner? I don't want dirty Sanchez. Let Hill and Smith learn from Warner and maybe pick up a QB in the middle to late rounds of the draft.

  • Forensics187

Lol, Smith huh? Not really sure that Hill is the long term answer either. This is a quarterback driven league, if you don't have one you can't win. Yes, it would be a first round waste for a year or two but then once Warner retires we would have a groomed QB. Just a thought. Need Warner first anyway.

  • MSouza

This really would be great, but I'm still trying really hard not to get my hopes up too high. I think he eventually comes to terms with Arizona, but at least we drive the price up on a division rival and through a little MORE controversy into their post super bowl off season.

  • MSouza

    Throw*

  • Josh Morgan

I think we are going to get him. Cards have to many other players they have to sign. Warner signing = Bruce signing = NFC West Champs and then some.

  • Bobby Boucher

I am thinking it's a lot more possible as this thing goes on. First class treatment with the jet and the limo, and the religion thing may be more important than we realize. Maybe Singletary tells Warner that God is a 49er fan, and he signs.

  • Bobby Boucher

Why do you guys keep bringing up Martz? He was fired before the playoffs even started. Who would have thought, at that time, that Warner would take the Cards to the big dance and almost win it? This Warner deal fell into our laps. There is no way we could have seen all this coming

  • Josh Morgan

Martz is so fucking great that he is still jobless. Believe me we are better off without him. How can you question Sing and call yourselves fans of this team.Martz cost us several games last year and anybody I repeat anybody could have improved the offense that Hostler was running. Martz preached how he was going to feature Gore but Gore would sometimes only run the ball like 15 times. Plus he insisted on JT O'Fumbleman and look how that turned out. I am sick of the Mike Martz shit get off it he is gone. I am just venting I mean nothing personal towards anyone. We are all entitled to our opinions and that is mine.

  • Bobby Boucher

Warner to Bruce could happen again; to our benefit. Why not? They killed us so many times over the years. Add Tory Holt to the mix and we can reunite the old "greatest show on turf" and mix in Frank Gore pounding the ball like Faulk could only wish he ever did. Alex resigning=our already invested in future, getting the opportunity to pick the brains of a future hall of famer. Warner start for 09, Smith comes back healty in 10 or 11 with the swagger to finally lead us into the future. When he was drafted, his college coach said that it would take him awhile to learn how to run a NFL offense, and then it would click and he would be great. He never got a chance to shine under Nolan. With Singletary at Coach, and Warner as mentor(rather than Dilfer) our #1 pick can learn to shine. Forensics, you are forgetting about the amount of time, money, and offensive changes this young man has gotten. Bring Warner here, and our current QBs only get better.

  • Joe Gomez

Bobby Boucher.. Sorry for the the late reply but NO I am not "brainwashed" by Martz. All I said all along is that if he got fired they BETTER bring someone in that has equal to better qualifications. Looking at Raye's accomplishments and resume, the guy sucks ass. Even Pundit wrote his article saying how this was a joke. His best year was the year Eric Dickerson broke the rushing record. Im all for changing the OC, but fuck atleast get someone as qualified as the one your replacing. Now we are bringing in a QB that won a ring with Martz. Hmmmmm? Thats very odd, he doesnt fit the style of offense we are trying to run. The story is that Warner has a bad hand and doesnt like taking snaps right under center. Besides I really doubt he will go from Fitz, Boldin, and Breaston to Hill, Morgan, and Zeigler? Thats a big fucking downgrade. Im all for it but I doubt he will sign with us. Its probably a ploy to get AZ to give him more $$$$$.

  • Josh Morgan

Gomez is going to have an aneurysm when he finds out Housh signed with the Seahags. 5 years $40 million I believe.

  • ninaz

yes do it sign his sexy ass now Alex can learn the new offense and from Warner and next year he can fight for the starting job against Warner. I would have been happier though if we still had Martz but without him Warners performance is questionable.

  • ritzay

Has anyone noticed this news is not on the Niners official website?
I’ve looked and so far can’t find a word about it…interesting.

  • Josh Morgan

Free agent Jason Taylor has already been contacted by “roughly a dozen teams,” according to Profootballtalk.com.

The Packers, Bucs, Broncos, 49ers, Browns, and possibly the Eagles and Patriots could be in play. Taylor only had 3.5 sacks in an injury-ruined 2008 season, but recorded 11 the year prior and will have no shortage of suitors.

  • MSouza

They aren't having contract talks right now, he is on his honeymoon. So your right in that they haven't gone anywhere.

  • MSouza

If Smith does reach a new deal it will be loaded with incentives. Similar to Culpepper's deal with the Lions last year.

  • Joe Gomez

No Bobby Boucher, No aneurysm here, but yes I would have loved to have landed TJ but he isnt the only FA WR out there. I welcome anybody to come in and improve our roster and give us more talent and better chances to have a winning season for a change. How can you call for the greatest show on turf and then go bash Martz? If we bring in Warner, you think Raye is going to do a better job than Martz with Warner? I highly doubt that. ESPN is reporting that Sing is willing (if Warner signs) to cater the offense to Warners style so the run first smash mouth offense he keeps preaching isnt really set in stone after all. We should of waited until our roster was set to get the right OC in here because now if we sign Warner, Raye will not be the right man if Sing changes his mind and caters his offense to Warner’s strengths, which is throwing it downfield.

  • Joe Gomez

Those of you who still have hopes for Alex Smith, sorry to ruin your dream, contract talks have gone nowhere and this bum is STILL slated to earn $10 million a year sitting on the pine. I would make him give some of that money back. What a fucking waste.

  • Texas9er

I just got done reading a story on espn insider that the 49ers are interested in Jason Taylor. They said he hopes to sign with someone by tomarrow or the next day. There is about 6 teams interested but the 49ers look like the front runners. I wouldn't mind him coming to the 49ers. The reason he sucked last year with the redskins is they used him as a run stuffer. His best work is in a 3/4. Sign him for a year or 2 draft a pass rusher in the later rounds and use the #1 pick on a RT. One other thing that helps the 49ers on this is he wants to do some acting when he is done with football. The 49ers are the closest team to Hollywood that is interested in him. What do you guys think on this?

  • lowrance

God, took me forever to get signed in. Kept going to 49erholics and getting no reply emails, lol!

Watching ESPN, and I thought I heard Warner has had his offer with Arizona sweetened with guarateed money. Or was that the 49ers? I know the Niners got closer to the $14 mill he was looking for.

  • Josh Morgan

The Cardinals are fucked either way. We very easily and probably should have beaten them both times last year. It is not like they are leaps and bounds beter than us. Christ take Nolan out of the equaton and we may have just won that division. To sum it up we are still winning the NFC West next year with or without Kurt Warner.

  • ninaz

Josh Morgan, how can you say Martz cost us games? it was sing that enfroced the running the ball part of the offense and we lost to the cards on monday night because of him. He put a monday night game on the line just to prove his point. Sing is a good coach but emotions get to him and we are fucked. And it was Nolan that sided with JT NOT Martz. Nolan picked up JT because if JT fucked up Scott would blame Martz not Nolan but it backfired and Nolan got fired. Even Martz said Shaun Hill had more poise and moxy than JT. But since you know it all i guess Jimmy raye will take us to the promised land right? gimme a breack dude you dont know shit just because you put on a patrick willis jersey on sundays doesnt mean you know everything about the 49ers including its coaching staff.

  • Josh Morgan

We lost the Monday night game to the Cards because Martz called the wrong play during the confusion first of all. Singletary does not call plays the O coordinator does. What about the Eagles game a double digit lead going into the 4th quarter and he continues to throw downfield and left Frank Gore hanging causing us to lose. Get a clue Martz insisted on JT and is the one who brought him to the 9ers. You my friend are the one with no clue.

  • Billy

Man it took forever to log in and whats up with the strange passwords pundit?

Well on to the 49ers, Ninaz, Josh is right I dont know where you have been but Martz was saying JT was his best QB ever better than Warner and Nolan like the dumbass he is followed it. As for the Monday night game it was the Refs fault for not informing the 49ers or giving us time to call the play, Martz called the play NOT Singletary and Martz put in Robinson in on that play, you bag on Josh for not knowing his “shit” but it is you who doesnt know, that game was so heart breaking when I saw the end I couldnt sleep!

Ok off that topic although Jay Cutler most likely wont be traded, if possible I would love it if the 49ers made a play for him but I doubt it I dont want us to give up our first and McClueless wants to build through the draft which isnt really his forte, cause he always contradicts himself just like the whole guards arent worth signing yet we have drafted them constantly in the 2nd round. And on the Kurt Warner thing it would be better if he retired, hes good but he wouldnt work in our system, remember when he was NYG and constantly sacked and would force turnovers, what Warner needs is WRs and great protection and we lack all those aspects, furthermore if he signs with the Cardinals it will limit their spending hahahaha

  • Joe Gomez

Forget dissecting each game and play the shoulda woulda game. The bottom line is if you ask who is a better OC Raye or Martz?

The record speaks for itself. Raye’s record is pathetic compared to Martz and his Super Bowl ring. Thats what it comes down to. Not saying Raye isnt a decent coach but if you compare resumes Raye doesnt stand a chance. If Warner came to the 49ers, who would you rather have Martz or Raye? If you answer Raye then I dont know what you are smoking but it must be good.

As far as the JTO thing, Hill, JTO, and Hill had a competition in training camp and in the pre-season. JTO clearly outplayed Hill and Lamedick Alex, that was clear. Im sure it wasnt all on Martz to make the decision who would be the starter because Nolan was the head coach and he always said he made the final decision. They had a competition and JTO won out. JTO CLEARLY outplayed them, you cant deny that. It just so happened that in the regular season JTO struggled and couldnt protect the ball. You take away all the fumbles JTO had and look at his stats, he did a decent job and won a few games for us. Its the fumbles that cost him his job, but you cant deny that guys accuracy and arm strength.

Bottom line is we still dont have a franchise QB. We have a journeyman in Hill and a BUST of the century in Alex. I dont know how good this Sanchez is coming out of college but several mock drafts has us taking him. Im hoping Warner signs with us to buy us more time to search for that future franchise QB.

As far as Jason Taylor, man I was targeting him last year along with Jerry Porter. Now hes available again, I hope he does come it will help out our pathetic pass rush. Fred Taylor signed with the Pats meaning the Gore/Taylor combination will just be a dream. TJ went to Seattle for a price that wasnt as crazy as people assumed. Oh and for all the TJ haters who didnt want to go after him, I just found out that the guy had more receptions than ANY wide receiver in the NFL for the past 4 years. He wouldve been the number one on our WR corps hands down. L. Coles and Harrison are still out there to be had. I know we cant go after everybody but shit we need help in every single category, defense and offense. Seems that way every year. Too many mediocre players drafted by fucking McClueless. Gore and Willis are is bread and butter out of all the years hes been drafting for us. Fucking pathetic.

Lito Shepheard was dealt away for a 5th round draft pick. That was a bargain. There is still some ball hawk safeties out there. If we cant land Warner maybe we can bring in Garcia or Leftwich for a look. Heard we lost Fields so were gonna need somebody to step up there. Again, we have so many holes its hard to fix everything in one year. I want to go deep in the playoffs every year but it seems like every year we have the same daym holes to fill. One step forward, two steps back. Im praying Sing will finally turn this around. Im sure he will, but hes going to need the players to do it.

  • Josh Morgan

We are arguing over spilled milk. I dont know everything and do not intend to claim so. I am just stating my opinion. Now onto recent news. I would welcome Jason Taylor. He would be the best pure pass rusher we have had in quite awhile.

  • Texas9er

Josh, no matter what you say on here I have come to realise that someone will have a problem with it.

  • 9nerfan

texas9er, are 49ers really the front runners for jason taylor. that damn that would be nice. him and manny lawson coming off the edge and pat and takeo holding down the middle. that would be very nice. anymore info about that?

  • Texas9er

9erfan. I have an espn insider acount and it showed the 49ers to be the first team interested which means they are the front runners in espns mind. I haven’t seen anything else since yesterday. If I do come across more info I’ll pass it along.
