The 49ers locked up center Eric Heitmann for 3 more years. Heitmann signed an extension through the 2011 season, this apparently happened late last month.
Heitmann had an outstanding offseason and was named one the 49ers’ team captains before the season. He also received praise from offensive coordinator Mike Martz early in the season.
The team was unsure about Heitmann entering the season. He broke his leg late in 2006 and wasn’t back to form early in 2007.
He received a modest signing bonus of $1.25 million. His base salary for 2008 is $1.24 million. Next year, his salary is $800,000, with a $500,000 guarantee and $1 million in roster bonuses. In 2010, Heitmann is due to receive a base salary of $1.4 million and a roster bonus of $300,000. In 2011, the base is $1.95 million, with another $300,000 roster bonus.
