Are You Going to San Francisco?

We all know that this is Mike Holmgren’s final year with the Seahawks. He’ll finish out the season and Jim Mora, Jr. is set to take over. All the reports are saying that Holmgren is going to take a year off and do nothing. That is, unless an opening comes up in San Francisco.

Cris Collinsworth has said that Holmgren is building a home in San Francisco and that if the GM position becomes available, that’s where he’s going. Collinsworth also mentioned that Holmgren would consider the head coaching job as well.

Of course Nolan still needs to be fired, but after Nolan’s last ditch effort to try and save his job by going with Hill. It is looking more and more like even he knows his days are numbered.

So let’s all pray to the Niner Gods that Nolan gets fired and Collinsworth is right in Holmgren coming back home to San Francisco.

Come back home Mike

Come back home Mike

Hill did well when he wasn't injured last year. I don't see why we shouldn't give him a chance…. couldn't do any worse…

Always liked Mike. Though when he whined about TO sharpie signing in Seattle, I felt he was crying too much…lol

  • Mike Martz

That is not me Gomez. I stopped with that shit! Sarah

  • ninercheech

I don't know who said Hill was gonna start. Nolan doesn't make that decision so I don't see that happening.

If Holmgren were to come in he would have to clean house a little. The o-line and d-line need a lot of help. Everyone needs to realize that if Holmgren comes in that means Nolan needs to go along with Martz and the "best quarterback" he has ever worked with. Martz would go because Holmgren would want a west coast offense back in place. Even with Holmgren in it would take him a couple of years to turn things around…

    joe is a bitch

Nolan has confirmed that he isnt making any changes at QB.

    Mike,
Would jump all over the chance to coach in San Francisco. He grew up here and is building a house here.
Bring him and get Colt McCoy or Bradford in the 1st rd

  • Desert9er

If the choice is Holmgren, it won’t happen mid-season unless Seattle also fires Holmgren mid-season which is unlikely. That means we’re dealing with Nolan for the rest of this season.

Yeah, there would be a complete house cleaning if this scenario played out. None of our current QBs would be kept as none of them fit the stereotypical BWO (Bill Walsh Offense) QB.

I don’t like the term WCO (West Coast Offense) because that’s a misnomer. The true West Coast Offense is the Air Coryell offense – Norv Turner and Mike Martz are disciples of the true WCO and the 49ers have been using elements of it the past few years under Turner and Martz.

The last time the 49ers used the Bill Walsh Offense (mistakenly called the WCO due to the press fucking up the association partly due to Walsh’s association with the WCO in the past while working for the Bengals and the 49ers being on the west coast) was when McCarthy was our offensive coordinator in Nolan’s first year. Holmgren definitely would want to bring that back.

could u imagine this senerio Mike Holmgren HC Mike Martz OC

+ a great Offensive Line WE could Dominate Any defense

we Just need someone under center

  • Rob

Well, I could certainly see this happening. As far as I’m aware, hiring & firing the HC is McCloughlan’s responsibility. And, he worked for Holmgren at one time. And, Holmgren’s established record would be more than enough to sell the Yorks on him. But, would Holmgren want to work just as a HC when he is leaving Seattle from that very position? Plus, isn’t it a little early to be talking about this? After all, Holmgren is the coach we are going up against this week. Right now, there is still the issue of what to do when Nolan gets fired. I still say make Singletary the interim HC. Why not? It would take nothing short of a miracle to save this season, so give him a shot, see how he does. If he turns this team around and puts some wins together, we can consider him as our permanent HC. While Holmgren would be a good choice, let’s keep our options open.

And with the 5th pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select….

  • crazydave

i hope it as a head coach.he has no experience i don’t think as a general manager that i have seen.im kinda wondering to if we might give norv turner a chance here as head coach since he is in his final year of his contract in San Diego and if i remember correctly that when he left he said he might be back or york said that or some one did.
