Not So Easy in the Big Easy
Good to see the 49ers we have grown accustomed to showed back up. The 49ers embarrassed themselves in New Orleans this week and once again struggled to beat a good team. It’s unfortunate we can’t play the Lions every week.
The 49ers did some good things, like shutting down Reggie Bush, but not surprisingly made Lance Moore a superstar and everyone else not named Bush.
Don’t even get me started on the piss poor play of the Offensive Line. Saints came into the game only having six sacks and in this game they matched that total today. Still not sure why Warhop still has a job. That along with the new and improved JT O’Turnover and the 49ers never had a chance.
At this moment I can’t think of any positives to take from this game, well maybe the returns by Rossum and the play by Patrick Willis, but that’s about it.
With all that said, I’m not to upset with the loss. Again turnovers, penalities and execution killed them. They still had opportunities but O’Sullivan’s INT’s in the endzone hurt. This team is way better than last years and if they can just work on the little things, I still see them doing well.

This team is definitely better but unfortunately still not a winner. Both our lines are mediocre and I’ll be shocked if Barry Sims is not let go after this game and Mark Roman doesn’t lose his starting job.
PS: I’m also getting tired of VD celebrating catches when we are getting destroyed.

Average, that’s what the niners are this year, they’re better than the lions, rams, chiefs, and other bottom dweller teams but this team is not that good. This is going to happen a lot this year people! Yes Adam..I believe it was 6. JT has been sacked what 20 something times. He can’t be perfect every game. What was the stat they showed 29 pass attempts, hurried 23 times. Don’t care who you are as a QB, that much pressure gets to you. And despite that he still got the team in the redzone, but unfortunately turned it over. It’s turnovers, poor O-line play and penalties on D that are killing this team. They lost by 11 (yeah I know it’s 14) but despite the turnovers and Brees having his way they were still in it to an extent on the road.
Ninervalley,i’m gonna have to agree with you.And i’m sure i will hear about it on this site.We don’t seem to be prepared week in and week out.But i am goona have to stick by my opinion that V.D is a 2nd or 3rd round pick at best.

Why won’t the Niners make the playoffs? The Division is terrible and they could very well steal it. This team is going to have ups and downs like this I’d try to keep the overreaction to a minimum.

they won’t make the playoffs because the next three games are against the Pats, Eagles, and Giants… all three are better than the Saints. We might have a chance against the Pats but it’s a long shot when both our front lines are as solid as a cheese grater.

What an ugly web we weave when we practice to percieve. Think we can beat the Pats? No. The Eagles? Hell No. Can you imagine what Jim Johnsons defense will do to o’sullivan. I see a four game losing streak on the horizon. 2-5 when we play Seattle. A healthy Seattle. Get ready for another high draft pick and at least a couple of more long, long years. It might be better in the long run to tear the team down (save Willis) and start from scratch. Anyone of you who thinks JT can lead us to the playoffs or even a (HA) Superbowl, you should just stop watching football.
Why can’t they beat the Patriots? The Niners aren’t a better team than the Fins? The Eagles will be a tough game but New England is beatable. Starting from scratch? That’s not going to happen. The core of a very good team is here. There is premier running back. Good young players on D. This team needs a QB and an O Coordinator to stick together for more than a year. The O-line needs to be coached up. This team can make the playoffs because the division sucks. They can go 9-7 and win the division. I’ll keep watching football though thanks.
If we had the core of a very good team, we would be winning. A very good team has a very good QB. We don’t. Why can’t they beat the Patriots? One reason is they have two weeks to get ready. If you haven’t been paying attention the Patriots aren’t THE Patriots any more. They have a terrible QB, an aging defense and got manhandled by the Dolphins. Yes a QB is definitely missing from the 49ers but the Offensive line is young and will only improve under improved coaching and years together. Gore is one of the best backs in the league. The core is there it doesn’t mean it’s ready to be an upper echelon team in the division. If you don’t want your team to make the playoffs and be a division champion maybe you should stop watching football. Stop overreacting over one loss. The team is going to have games like this it’s growing.
Growing?Our defense is the most experienced in the league.It cant grow anymore than it is.Our offense has plenty of talent but or offensive line is absolutely crap.The only good thing about us making the playoffs is that we will get to see our team play another week.Bad thing is,whats the point of making the playoff but only to get embarassed and to get a higher draft pick.I’m just discouraged about this team.This was not a good team we faced today,and they put up 31 on us.28th defense in the league on defense and we couldn’t score a TD.I’m sick of Mike Nolan.Let me have it.I know i was wrong again,but fuck em.
Call me crazy but I still think that this game was winable. Poor O-line a couple of bad coaching decisions (3rd and 1 and we pass?) 2 int in the endzone, a great catch on a well defended flea flicker and on and on. We just fell behind and could not utilize the run game which is what cost us in my opinion. Dont forget this was a 10am road game in a tough place to play against a team desperate for a win. The Jets killed Zona, KC beat DEnver, and both the Rams and Redskins lead good teams at the half. This is the NFL you just dont dominate and win every week. JTO had a bad game and was under pressure all day I refuse to give up on him or the team just yet!!!
The Saints offense is much better than mediocre plus the rankings are only based off of 3 games. Dont give up on us yet.
Tim,no offense bro,but this game was not winable.And we didn’t deserve to win this game.We could not stop a college reciever in Lance Moore,and we got sacked 6 times by a defense that had 4 sacks all season long.These things are not easily fixed.We will beat New England,no doubt in my mind.We wil get embarased against the Giants and the Eagles.I just expected more of this team.
The Defense avg years of experience in the league is 4.5 years. I hardly called that the most experienced in the league. Sorry that I can’t be as pessimistic as you guys where making the playoffs wouldn’t be a positive. The Saints aren’t a good team but they’re not necessarily a bad team and have a hard home field to play on. If you’re so pessimistic about the team shouldn’t you expect losses like this and they shouldn’t get you so upset?
This team is going to lose games like this and it’s going to win games like the Lions game… how is that hard to handle. No one expected this to be a 10+ win team did they?
We did not stop Lance Moore because Nolan game planned to stop Bush and his stubborn ass refuses to make adjustments. I was at work Adam so I missed the majority of the game on TV I had to watch the helmets on CBS Sportsline did we miss Spencer that much or did we just get torched. I just think that we could still have been much more competitive and just played really bad and the coaching had issues of their own.

Down 21-9 JTO throws an int in the endzone. We score there and all momentum is on our side. As bad as we played we were in this game up until that point. Yes we did not deserve to win but could we have I think so but that does not make me right. The Saints are not leaps and bounds better than us we just got beat by the better team TODAY if we were to play again I still think we could win thats all I have to say. Now it is on to the Patriots.
this is the same group of people that were giving high five’s and hell ya’s to the Niner’s when they tore up the Lion’s. What a change when our team loses. Come on guys….WTF!! Anyone notice a trend when we play early games over the past couple of seasons??? The team plays like they just got out of bed. Bad coaching, gentlemen. Nolan is not preparing this team. And what was that challenge all about? Even if they would have won it, it wouldn’t have meant shit. 2nd and 10 or 2nd and 5??? Instead we give away a timeout. One more point…How do you shut down players like Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson and then let players like Lance Moore or Robert Meachum beat you? Can someone explain that? Drew Brees is a great QB but even he can’t make these guys look that good. The problems: O-Line, Run Defense, Inconsistent Secondary, Lack of Pass Rush, Quarterback, COACH. Shouldn’t be too hard to fix, its only the most important parts of winning a game. There is potential, but potential does not win games. Keep living on memories for a little while longer Niner Fans.

One more thing guys, it should be noted that in the sequence where VD pounded his chest after the catch in the flat and ran for about 15 yards he was yelling at the sideline about why that was the first pass that was thrown to him in the game. You could see it when he went to the sideline and he was fighting with Nolan.
Adam….while I agree the players have to be accountable, the defensive scheme was seriously FLAWED. We took Bush out of the game for the most part, then we let McCallister run all over us. I think we ranked 2nd in the league against the pass, well that’s out the fucking window. There was no pass rush to speak of, and our secondary just plain got burned.
I don’t blame O’Sullivan for shit. When you get harassed all day, of course you’re going to make mistakes. The O-line needs to get their head out of their ass and fucking PROTECT. It’s their job. It’s what they get paid for.

this game was win-able. we LOST it. the o line lost it. Jt’s turnovers were because of lack of protection. yes they were bad throws and yes he held on to the ball too long. but the line kept breaking down and forcing him into errant throws. two of them that should have been touchdowns. instead the saints score 14. Thats a 28 point swing. Then you throw in the fumbles that led to touchdowns. This game should have been ours. Well at least we should have been in the game.
