Beasts and Bitches: Lions @ 49ers

JT a Beast again, Vernon not so much

JT a Beast again, Vernon not so much

Here are Beasts and Bitches for Week 3. The 49ers beat the Lions 31-13 to improve to 2-1.

Beasts

  • JT O’Sullivan: Finished the day with a rating over 120 and for the second week in a row did not turn the ball over.
  • Frank Gore: Finished the day with over 120 rushing and one score. Gore ranks in the top 5 in rushing after this week.
  • Defensive backs: Clements, Brown and Harris deserve praise for shutting down Calvin Johnson, Roy Williams, and Shaun McDonald. I believe they combined for 8 catches.
  • Justin Smith: Finished the day with one sack, one forced fumble, and one interception. Smith was all over the field on Sunday.
  • Offensive Line: Last week they were bitches, but this week they improved at home and helped Gore get over 100 and only allowed one sack opposed to eight.
  • Mike Nolan/Mike Martz: Nolan says it was his decision, but not sure how much weight Martz had on the play. 4th and goal and 49ers decide to go for 6 instead of 3. Gamble paid off.

Bitches:

  • Vernon Davis: Stone Hands, The Brick, Butterfingers, Alligator Arms, so many to choose from. This week Davis played like crap and couldn’t catch anything.
  • Joe Nedney: Don’t get me wrong I like Nedney, but for the second week in a row he missed a field goal and also believe he didn’t get any kickoffs past the 15.

Born and raised a diehard Niner fan. I have nothing better to do with my time than sit here and cram my opinions down everyone's throat.

VD will come around he god guys he had a few bad games big deal he will emerge and when he does that is another peace of the puzzle but i am still speachless with JTo can we say we have a qb

  • Lowrance

    Frank and JT played awesome!

VD? I've about had it with him. One catch and he things he's a God. Then he drops two. He's on my list just above Mr Glass. I agree with another poster. Let's go with Walker.

Nedney has to be horrible for me to not like him. I still quiver at memories of Cortez….

Are DB's are pretty good. But let's be honest. The Detroit wide outs couldn't catch a pass if it was handed to them Sunday. Talk about not giving a damn….

Justin Smith??? That intercetion brought me to my feet cheering. Great vision!

For once I disagreed with the 4th down decision to go for it being ahead by what we were and kick the field goal. But we made it, so who can complain? Whatever gives our boys confidence!

Very good special teams. How many times did they tackle inside the 20??? And Andy Lee? Pro Bowl mention again.

More attack offense please. It's been so long for us Niner fans! We can run, be let's be up 28 next time first!

We still need MORE pressure on the QB!!!

  • ninerfaithful

barber isnt going to dance like he has been when we play dallas! because the yard dog #52 will wrap him up evertime so Dont worry Tim and as far as as saying walker is a better TE than Vd ur nuts Vernon needs to get in the groove has some faith

  • Tim

OMG!!! I just watched NFL Primetime and during our 30 seconds of highlights Merrill Hodge said "take notice this 49ers team is a playoff team the way they are playing right now". It has to start somewhere.

  • Tim

I live in Massachusetts and can not wait to play the Patriots!

  • Mike

Tim I saw the same thing. I heard that and I was like finally someone is watching out. I think last year so many people put expectations on us and we folded. This year we are under the radar and hopefully will continue to break out.

  • Tim

Not that it matters but here we go again this week. We totally dominate both sides of the ball and shut down 2 great recievers and it earns us a B+ grade on CBS sportsline. Seahags beat the lowly Lambs and of course an A. If I remember correctly didnt the Packers need 2 late Int’s by Kitna to survive the Lions? No mention of that anywere last week just a big game from Aaron Rodgers. In my opinion the Cowboys may be better on paper but I will take my chances as their secondary has been getting torched every week and I believe our secondary is unlike any they have seen thus far. It’s Barber that scares me most.

  • ninerfaithful

Tim we are playing the pats at home this year

  • Tim

I know they are I just want to beat their ass no matter where it is being played. I am not impressed with the Giants and their easy scedule either.

  • http://niners Medford

Nedney has no confidence anymore he makes me think of Jose Cortez right now.

HERES A QUESTION FOR ALL YOU GUYS

Wat happends at the end of the year if we finish with a winning record and alot of teams r interested in Martz do you keep him or Nolan?

WHO IS MORE VALUABLE TO THE TEAM?

I say Martz is more valuable then Nolan and if it came down to it Nolan would have to be fired to keep Martz look at r offense b4 Martz it sucked.

  • gee-ray

ninerfaithful… i think delanie walker is playing better than v.davis also.. i dont think its nuts to say that. true vd has more potential but he hasnt proven it in three years. its frustrating to watch him drop balls and give up on passes. when he does catch them he hot dogs it like he's been doing it for years. i hope he proves me wrong and steps it up and acts more professional. all the potential in the world is no good if you dont show up and give 100%.

  • ninerfaithful

martz hands down he is the a big reason we sit at two and one on the season . nolan may have influences with the D but remember its Greg Manusky Making them calls the 49ers would be very wise to keep martz and JTO for a little while. nolan is a good guy… but martz has taken over this team ! Hey Nolan Kansas City will be looking for a new head coach soon get your resume together……………………………….

N.O. there’s a hurricane coming on sunday no its not Ike katrina its the 49ers we shall be 3-1

  • Lowrance

Raise Martz’s pay, Make Singletary Head Coach

I’m ok with doing that now…

  • NINER81

MAN SOMETIMES I CANT BELIEVE YOU NINER FANS.NOLAN HAS DONE A GREAT JOB WITH THIS TEAM. DO YOU REMEMBER WHAT WE LOOKED LIKE BEFORE NOLAN? DO YOU REMEBER THE ERICKSON YEARS? YOU FANS DID THE SAME SHIT WITH MOOCH! HOW DID THAT TURN OUT? NOLAN’S DRAFTS HAS BEEN GREAT( EXCEPT FOR ALEX RIGHT NOW) FREE AGENCY HAS BEEN SUPER. WHAT’S THE PROBLEM? MARTZ IS A CORD. HE HAS PROVEN THAT HEAD COACH IS NOT HIS THING. REMEMBER HIM PASSING THE BALL ALL GAME FACING A QUARTER DEFENSE IN THE SUPERBOWL AGAINST THE PATS? HE NEEDS A HEAD COACH TO STEP IN AND SAY YES WE’RE GOING FOR OR NO LETS PUNT IT. NOLAN PUT THIS GREAT COACHING STAFF TOGETHER. MARTZ IS JUST ANOTHER PIECE TO HIS PUZZLE.

LOWRANCE,FAITHFUL C’MON GUYS GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER. MARTZ, SINGLETARY HEAD COACH. WOW….REALLY. HOW MANY TEAMS HAVE A BETTER COACHING STAFF.. WHEN TOP FREE AGENTS SIGN WITH US WHATS ONE OF THE RESONS THAT THEY ALL SAY WHY THEY SIGNED. ……..COACHING.SO YOU GUYS REALLY WANT MARTZ AS HEAD COACH HUH? STUPID! IT’S YOU GUYS…. THE DONT KNOWS, THAT OPEN YOUR MOUTHS AT BARS AND PARTYS AND BLUT OUT STUPID SHIT THAT MAKE REAL FOOTBALL FANS THINK WE DONT KNOW OUR SHIT. STUDY

  • NINER81

    THEN… STUDY…… AGAIN!

  • Tj

your right, nolan can draft & sign free agents that are key factors. but he also aquired busts for us. alex smith pocketed $30 mill…for what!? mr. glass? what i’m saying is he did help our team, with the advantage of less dead money we had to pay in the cap salary. as for the question asked about nolan & martz, simple martz! our offense was dead last. we’re not first but looking better. our defense is good, manusky or singletary can run the same defense. i like nolan, but i don’t think of him highly as you do. our two past offensive cords. gone! where are they? both HEAD COACHES for PLAYOFF contenders. they aren’t going to get us again!

  • joe gomez

Niner81… Nolan has done an adequate job in the draft. I dont know where you find our drafts with him GREAT. If they were so great our top 2 picks in this year’s draft would be contributing right now.

  • NINER81

GORE, WILLIS, LAWSON, MORGAN, VD(ONE DAY) SNYDER, GOLDSTON, HAROLDSON, COWBOY, SPIKES, CLEMENT, HARRIS, BRUCE, FOSTER, AND ON.

OUR TOP 2 DRAFT PICKS, ARE YOU SERIOUS? THIS TEAM IS DEEP BROTHA.BALMER AND RACHAL WILL GET THIER CHANCE. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS WE DONT HAVE TO RELY ON DRAFT PICKS NEEDING TO PLAY BIG ROLES. LET THOSE YOUNGERS DEVELOPE.
