Dr O’Jekyll and Mr O’Hyde

So far more Dr Jekyll than Mr Hyde

So far more Dr Jekyll than Mr Hyde

I’ve been reading the comments on this board and I’ve read where JT O’Sullivan is compared to Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Which if you think about it, that’s fits to a ‘T.’ I know it has only been two preseason games and Sully hasn’t had enough time to show his skills, but is this really the guy to lead this team?

Through roughly four quarters Sully is 13 for 25, 225 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 int. Numbers wise the best that has been put out there, but hey he has got the benefit of playing with the first team. There is a reason this guy has been on 6-7 teams in six years.

The Dr. Jekyll side of him is throwing passes right to the opposing teams, lobbing passes that will get a runningback killed, and when he seems to do something right, it seems more of a receiver making a great play (see Josh Morgan) than it is on Sully.

The Mr. Hyde side of him we saw in the second quarter. He was 3 for 3 and drove the team 92 yards for their first touchdown, but majority of those yards came thanks to Foster.

I will not keep boring you all with my analogy, but I’m hoping Nolan and Co. give Smith the start against the Bears and see how he handles the first string. Out of the three I’m still in Smith’s corner and I seriously believe once he gets Martz system down, he’ll be lighting it up.

Born and raised a diehard Niner fan. I have nothing better to do with my time than sit here and cram my opinions down everyone's throat.

The offensive line played great last night from the 1st quarter to the 4th. I think O,sullivan did enough last night to become the starter and Josh Morgan is the shit.

Here we go….Mr. Glass injured his knuckle during the game. It isn't known to what extent. TRANSLATION….Knowing Mr. Glass he'll milk it until week 5.

im happy we won and it was a good game and yes our offensive line looked great and O Sullivan looked up and down.Morgan looks to be and up and down player too since hes a rookie and did his big catches when the back up secondary for greenbay was out there..what im wondering is whos gonna be the starting wide receivers…i dont even know how good B.Johnson is with our team havent seen him yet and i know it will probley be isaac Bruce as the #2 wide out.i wonder if its gonna be B.Johnson as the #1 then Isaac Bruce and as the #3 is it gonna be Josh Morgan or Arnaz Battle…..

I disagree with your comments. I dont think Smith will be “lighting it up” anytime soon. He clearly in his fourth year in the NFL is the same jittery QB with no touches or timing in his passes. I hope JTO improves and keeps the job because I think most Niner fans are through waiting for Smith to show some signs of improvement. Its been years and he has shown the same mistakes of a rookie. Its time cut the rope on him and lets give somebody else a chance.

I too am still rooting for Alex Smith to stand up and take this number 1 spot back. O’Sullivan is not our starting QB. Nor is Hill for that matter. I want to see what Smith can do under Martz! Nolan needs to stop messing around with theses career back ups and see if Alex is or isn’t our QB of the future.

Mike just please name Alex the starting QB he gives us the best chance to win. By far has the most upside and potential with smith this team is playoff caliber… with career back-up JTO we are a 5-6 win team period!

    O’Sullivan so far is 13/25, 225 yds, 1 TD 2 INT for a rating of 62.1

    Smith is 10/21, 113 yds, 0 TD 0 INT for a rating of 64

I agree with Pundit in that Smith could potentially light fools up if and when he learns this offense fully. Smith is still not very accurate, even last night, when he was throwing balls behind receivers and forcing them to break stride and make a play. He needs more reps with the first team. I’m sorry guys, but JTO is not the answer. Smith might not be either. We’ll see. I for one hope Smith steps up and TAKES this job once and for all.

In the end it just boils down to wins and losses. I don’t give a shit who the quarterback is, JUST WIN!!! I just think Smith has more tools than O’Sullivan.
