Another reason I'm very happy we added some studs on the O-line.

Vernon Davis will actually get a chance to make plays instead of having the stay back and block all the time. This draft helped us in ways most Niner fans aren't even realizing.

You guys wanted a #1 playmaker on offense?? what about actually using the stud we already have on the team.

Funny that you mention the webzone, thats actually why i posted over here. I'm really getting tired of that place. To much crying over players that they wanted the Niners to draft. No offense to the whiners but i'm pretty sure these guys actually do their homework. They don't base their information on a prospect from websites like NFL.com(like some of these know-it-all's)

these moves prove to me that the Niners are in win-now mode. No waiting around for a 1st or 2nd round WR to develop. We had huge issues on both lines and needed immediate help there. 3 of our first 4 picks along the trenches and people are upset? I honestly don't get the whiners.

Like i said before in my other post, the Niners did a lot of homework on Quentin Groves and didn't draft him. Darnell Bing ring a bell from a few years ago?? We did extensive homework on Bing and passed up on him 4 times when these so-called draft experts thought he should have went 1st or 2nd round. Where is he now?

I just wish the whining would stop and lets see what these kids are made of. I can honestly say i feel a lot better about this team than i did a year ago. This was a great draft and I can't wait for the season to start. I've been waiting awhile now for the Niners to draft a guy like Balmer in the early rounds. I still wish we would have traded down and drafted Haloti Ngata a few years ago instead of Vernon Davis like i suggested before the draft, but i'm happy that need was finally addressed.

Now we can only hope these moves along the O-line will give Alex Smith the time he needs to actually feel comfortable back there and just play the game and read the defense. You can obviously add Joe Staley to this draft class as well and our O-line was revamped with one draft class. How the hell can anyone complain, especially after giving up 55 sacks last year.

Does someone know if we will go after Ali Highsmith and/or Erin Henderson in the Free Agency?

I'm kinda surprised they didn't got drafted.

i agree. To many whiners on the niner webzone are being negative nellies. we needed offensive linemen and we got em so what do they do,, set there and whine and moan just cuz thier guy did not get selected. we filled needs. we got two good and versatile offensive lineman to help a unit who have up the most sacks in the nfl. the romper room crowd and fans who say they are fans but clearly can not stand the niners somehow pooh pooh those selections. in smith you got someone who can play both corner and safety and return punts and kickoffs, that was a need.you got a defensive tackle to help fill the void left by young, that was a need and then you got a nice linebacker who may or may not make it but he is an athlete. what the hell is the problem?i trust the gm and coach who watch these guys and have visited either with them or thier college coaches more than i trust the idiots over in niner webzone .those no minds over there clammer for erickson to return and long for the days of the 2003-2004 roster.

I think this was a great way to end the draft. IMO this has been a very successful draft and we filled a lot of holes. I'm still a little concerned with our pass rush but Balmer should help in that area taking on blockers. Our D-line looks to be solid now(Starters to depth) and that should only help our pass rush out. Larry Grant provides nice depth in the middle of our LB corp.

This draft also shows me that they didn't like Groves as much as many believed. They did a lot of homework on this guy and in the end passed up on him twice and didn't feel it necessary to trade up in the draft to jump ahead of the Steelers like the Jags did. This reminds me a lot of Darnell Bing a few years ago when everyone swore up and down we were going to draft him early because we talked with him so much.

You can also look at Jay Moore as a rookie this year as his rookie season was finished early. The coaching staff loves this kid and i think he still deserves a shot to prove what he's made of. I believe he has the skill set to start opposite Manny Lawson this year. Passing up edge rushers in this draft shows me that they like what they have in Moore and are willing to give him a shot(unlike most Niner fans it seems).

We needed a huge facelift on the O-line and got two studs in the first 4 rounds in Rachal and Wallace. IMO Heitman is better served as a backup, as his versatility is one of his stronger traits IMO. Wallace might not come in and start right away but should provide nice depth his rookie season. Something we sorely lacked last season. Some might say we needed a OT but Snyder, Wragge, Duckett can all provide depth there in case Jennings goes down and even Rachal is said to be seen as a possible RT as well.

I'll admit i was one of the guys intrigued with Groves or a playmaker like Deshean Jackson or another WR in the second round, but the more i think about it, i love the Rachal pick. After reading more info on him and watching some highlights, i can't help but be excited for Frank Gore.

WIth Mike Martz giving his blessing on drafting those two O-lineman over possible WR's(Royal,Doucet, Jackson,Hawkins, etc), it makes me feel more comfortable with our WR Corp. Martz gets a lot out of his WR's(no matter the accolades) and he should be able to work with this current group. You also can't discount Vernon Davis as a potential top target as well. Mike Martz said he loved the talent here when he took over and this draft shows me he wasn't lying.

I loved the Reggie Smith pick as well more on value than anything. He's a gamer but dropped due to slow timed speed. Whether he becomes a CB or a S on this team remains to be seen, but he was too talented of a player to pass up. Age and injury woes to the DB's also played a huge factor in this decision.

Well thats my rant and i can say i'm very happy with this draft. They didn't pick players i was looking at or wanted the Niners to go after, but the picks made a lot of sense. Our biggest concern was in the trenches and we stocked up big time. This team just got a lot better after this weekend IMHO. We should be able to protect the QB this year.
