  1. Mike says:

Avril a reach in the first though atleast i think so. and we have seen them take bpa over a reach guy or trade back. look at last year. had no one graded really for solid pick in 2nd so we traded with colts got there first this year. I would think we could go back a few picks and still get avril just don’t think we reach i think we either trade back or take bpa on our board.
Kelly in 2nd would be nice. While no one has seen him run yet.. before his injury bug most considered him best wr in class early on. Pollak some consider best Center in class. Harrison to dt/nt ok. don’t know anything about wilhite from auburn. Smith from tulsa put up decent numbers in school from what i understand. have heard his name before but don’t know much about him other then few things i have heard. wouldnt be bad in 7th i suppose but he could also be someone that could go undrafted too.
Only issue i have with this is. helps at center but we need help at tackle and guard and this didn’t address either of those.. unless jennings switches to right side and can stay healthy. b/c every where i have read staley is gonna be left tackle. I think snyder is better guard then tackle. bass can play either center or guard. who else put at tackle. Duckett?. i have read some places taht some teams actually like what we’ve done with turning him from dt to a OT but he hasn’t seen really any major action there so idk. and the guys we signed aren’t exactly major upgrades at all. so idk.. i can’t wait for the draft to get here though.
Nolan and McCloughan know what they’re doing. We’ve had really good drafts last few years lets hope for another one this year.

  2. JW says:

If this mock were true I’d be dissappointed in our draft this year…

  3. Billy says:

    My draft would be:
no. 29 WR Desean Jackson, Cal
no. 39 OL Sam Baker, USC
no. 75 DT Ahtyba Rubin, Iowa State
    no. 107 TE JerMicheal Finley
no. 174 QB Dennis Dixon, Oregon
no. 214 WR Cameron Colvin, Oregon

  4. Samra says:

My first three rounds would be:
    no. 29 OLB Quentin Groves
    no. 39 OL Sam Baker
    no. 75 WR Lavelle Hawkins

  5. Los Banos Jerry says:

Bryan Robison is totally wrong. Avril has moved up. But not pass 39. he probably will still be there at 44 or 45. Keley will be long
gone, around 22. Pollak is a total guess. If we haven’t gotten OT,
by are 75th pick. Tony Hills would be much better, and a huge need.
We have 3 centers. Picking 4th, 6th, and 7th is like throwing darts
against the wall. This is probablly the worst mock draft I’ve seen.

If you goggle NFL Draft 2008. You can see about 40 or more mock drafts, all much more realistic to what might happen.

Billy: Jackson will be gone. Baker could be there, but he had a
horrible pro day. We can get a better OT at 39. NICKS,CHERILUS.
I like Rubin at 75. We don’t need a TE. Dixon will go somewhere
in the 6th or 7th. I would grab him in the 7th. Colvin won’t get
drafted. Only 12 days until we find out.

  6. Samra says:

29 San Francisco – Quentin Groves Senior Defensive End Auburn
30 Green Bay- Reggie Smith Junior Cornerback Oklahoma
31 New York Giants- Dan Connor Senior Linebacker Penn State

  7. Billy says:

Jerry, hypothetically speaking if Jackson wasnt the at no.29 which you are right, he most likely wont be there, I would take Jemicheal Finley and convert him into a WR hes 6′5″ perfect height, the only thing is he needs work on his speed.

  8. Samra says:

Jemicheal Finley will be a horrible wr for our system

  9. Indiana Jim says:

I’ve posted this on my blog, but I’ll post it here, too:

1 – Sam Baker, OT USC
2 – Cliff Avril, OLB Purdue (better size and agility than Groves)
3 – Mike McGlynn, G/C Pitt (regarded as most versatile lineman in 08)
4 – Harry Douglas, WR Louisville (hard worker, great character)
    6 – Some dude
    7 – Also some dude

  10. Ryan the 1st says:

That guy lost ALL credibility when he said A)Avril for our first pick B)Malcolm Kelly will last until our second pick C)we will grab the best of a mediocre center class in the third when there will be plenty of tackles to be had D)WE DRAFT A QB!!!! This is one of the worst mock drafts ever!!!!

  11. josol21 says:

    1. Groves DE. Auborn
    2. Kelly WR. Oklahoma
    3. Hills OT. Texas
    4. Okam NT. Texas

  12. Los Banos Jerry says:

Josol21 not bad;;;; Groves will probably be gone as well as Kelly.
3rd Hills perfect Okam 4th oh yeah.

Since Groves and Kelly will be gone trade both of them back and get
Avril, Caldwell and an extra low 2nd or high 3rd and get Bell LB
    UNLV.

Billy Not at 29. we could get him in the 4th or 5th if we had a 5th.

Not bad Indiana Jim except for Baker 29 is way to high.

  13. Ryan the 1st says:

Yeah, Baker should be taken in the second round. If he isn’t there at 39 then tough crap. We shouldn’t REACH for anyone. Get the best player available and IF that is Groves then get him. However, if Cherilus is STILL there than make a move and go OLB or WR in the second. I wouldn’t be against getting Cherilus in the first and then Baker in the second. That would really sure up the o line. The TRUE draft of the WRs begin in the second round. ONE will be there at 39, but the question is which one will they be willing to take over EVERYONE else that is still available. I think we are going to be pleasantly surprise at who is STILL THERE at 39.

  14. Ryan the 1st says:

Look at http://www.profootballtalk.com. It sounds like Mario Manningham dropped his stock even further after a horrible interview on NFL Sirius Radio. Also, Adarius Bowman pleaded guilty to driving 80 MPH on the freeway and throwing a bag of Marijuana out the window while being chased. These guys might be knuckleheads, but if they are there (especially Manningham) in the third then we should take them. I think the time has come to grab talent if it available. These guys are hanging themselves…..why not capitalize on it?

  15. Bryan says:

In response to Los Banos Jerry
If you talk to anyone involved with NFL scouting, poll 100 of them, 90 of them will say Avril will be gone by our pick at 39. No way is he there at 44 or 45 as you suggested. In all reality, if Avril isn’t gone by our pick at 29, I’d like to move back out of the first to get a 3rd rounder this year and 2nd or 1st next year.
As for Kelly, with his awful pro day, and his comments on it, he won’t be drafted at 22. He’s a 2nd rounder at best.
Depth at center? We have Heittman and that’s about it. Pollak would move to LG along with Snyder.

  16. Samra says:

For everyone who wants Malcolm Kelly…REmember Raushaun Woods?????…

  17. Hijinx says:

Woods played for oklahoma state, Kelly played for Oklahoma. I think Kelly has some growing up to do but on the field he can do amazing things.

  18. Medford says:

That mock draft sucks!!! Why would we use a draft pick on a Qb ive never heard of how about Dennis Dixon.

  19. Rob says:

While I’m not sure about this mock (Samra, yours seems more realistic), I’m not sure why everyone is flipping out about drafting a QB. McCloughlan said himself that we may take a QB in the draft for extra competition. So, while I’m sure it won’t be a high pick, I wouldn’t be surprised if we used a late-round, or even a middle round pick (if the right person is available) on a QB.

  20. Hijinx says:

I’ve seen Paul Smith play, he’s a fantastic college player but I am not sure he has the makings of an NFL QB. He’s a tough guy though, no doubt. I think Dixon is the same, a nice college player.

  21. Medford says:

I see more upside with Dixon than Smith yeah Smith threw for 5000+ yards but who did he play against? I say draft Dixon in the 6th round put him on ir for the year and let him watch he could at least be a good backup…

  22. bleedredandgold says:

    1st-DE Quentin Groves
    2nd-OT Carl Nicks
3rd-WR Jerome Simpson or Eddie Royal
    4th-CB Dwight Lowery
    6th-OG Kerry Brown
    7th-DE Tommy Blake

    Go Niners!!!!!!!!!!

  23. Mike says:

    29. San Francisco 49ers (from 13-3 IND) — Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College
Record: 5-11 | Needs: ROT, OLB, WR, OL, QB, CB
Scenario 1: San Francisco did well to get OTJoe Staley in the first round last year, but Jonas Jennings has had problems staying healthy and doesn’t appear to be the answer at left tackle. The 49ers can move Staley and his quick feet to the left side and then plug Cherilus in on the right, where he has the size and quickness to make an immediate impact.
Scenario 2: If Cherilus isn’t available expect San Francisco to address wide receiver needs, possibly with Malcolm Kelly.

thats from todd mcshays mock that was just put on espn

  25. TONY says:

why doesn’t anyone want Hardy??? how did he do at the combine??

  26. Mike says:

It’s not that no body wants him. Its fact that a lot of us would rather go either OLB or OT with that first pick. and Hardy could be there for us in 2nd but this draft is deep in wr. and could get a will franklin in 4th or an andre caldwell who fits system better. or even a dexter jackson or lavelle hawkins. in 2nd or 3rd round.
Also a lot more is starting to surface with off field things. Plus a lot of analysts are saying 1 or 2 of the top wr’s could slide to 2nd round.

  27. Mike says:

    Draft notes
The word on the street is that Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long doesn’t want to play for the Dolphins, who continue to negotiate with him as the first overall draft choice. There’s a special honor in being the first pick so Long’s agents continue to talk.

Of course, there is a deadline to these contract talks and then the Dolphins will move onto the next person on their board. Apparently, it isn’t Virginia’s Chris Long.
    http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8036808/The-pressure-is-on-for-Pacman

nothin really about us just draft news that i read about.

  28. Nashville9er says:

I would love to see this the night of April 27th:
    1-OLB Groves (pass rushing beast)
2-OT A. Collins (could beat out Jennings at RT)
3-WR Earl Bennett (Arnaz Battle with more speed & playmaking ability)
4-CB/FS Jonathan Hefney (the next Bob Sanders)
6-QB Kevin O’Connell (huge, fast, could be groomed to be great)
    7-ILB J Lehman (solid.)

  29. Faithful1234 says:

    http://nfldraft.rivals.com/nfldraft.asp

this is a mock draft from yahoo….i think its the worst thing ive ever seen….

    round 1 – brian brohm
    round 2 – felix jones

why would we ever do this…who is this guy?

  30. ninerfaithful says:

IS THAT A TERRY DONHUE DRAFT BOARD LOL!!!!

i hope Alanta trades up with in at 29 and we take all ther second round picks

  31. Los Banos Jerry says:

Faithful1234: there is 1 way, that this guys draft makes total
sense………. Thats if we pick those 2 players with our picks
and trade them to Atlanta along with our 4th round pick and get all
    3 of there 2nd round picks 34, 37, and 48.

  32. Faithful1234 says:

Los Banos Jerry….i would def have to agree with your prediction…3 2nd round picks would be a lot of value…esp if like some of the boards predict…quentin groves and dan connor fall into the 2nd (not saying we would get both, but u can dream!)

  33. Los Banos Jerry says:

How sweet would it be to trade with Atlanta. And get Groves with 34.
Conner or Mayo with 37. And Caldwell with 48. Hills with 75.

  34. Mike says:

Unfortunatly a trade of our first to atlanta would net us one of there 2nd and there 3rd i think value wise. If they wanted bad enough could say 2 2nd’s and hope they go for it. However gotta realize we aren’t the only team out there who could be thinking trade back. Chargers and Cowboys both picks right in front of us may be willing to trade back if who they are looking for isn’t there too. Big reason for a team to jump back in esp the falcons is to jump miami. Have to realize we aren’t the only team that could be interested in something like that. I’d be happy with there earliest 2nd and a 3rd. There is just as much talent falling into the 2nd round as there is the early 3rd. Or even there early 2nd and 4th and like a 3rd/4th next year.
Also start to realize that ravens may look to jump back into first now with mcnair retiring. also have thoughts that miami could just want to move up a few spots just to ensure they get the qb they want(if thats what they are indeed targeting with there 2nd like so many of us are speculating).. There is a lot of possible trade backs that could be there for us if the talent isnt there that we are looking for or have valued for our selection.

  35. Samra says:

Man i would almost do anything in order for us to trade our first rounder for all three of the falcons 2nd picks which would gives us four 2nd rounders….and further more if we drafted Sam Baker, Quentin Groves, Trevor Laws and kentwan balmer and then in the third get lavelle hawkins and in the fourth get Roy Schuening

  36. Samra says:

we also need to remember that in order to get Brady Quinn last year the browns gave up the third pick in the 2nd round and this years first rounder which many beleived to be a top 10…so im praying that the falcons fall in love with brian brohm, chad henne, or joe flacco

  37. Willis_69 says:

Paul Smith might be a steal.Even though he did play in the CUSA he played pretty well against Oklahoma last year.I think he will fit in well with Martz Offense.

  38. Willis_69 says:

    2005 227 364 2835 62.4 7.79 66 20 6 26 142.62
    2006 233 350 2727 66.6 7.79 58 15 9 15 141.02
    2007 327 544 5065 60.1 9.31 75 47 19 28 159.85

    82 TD’s
    10627 YDS
    34 INT’s

  39. Los Banos Jerry says:

Well you all know how much I want the 9ers to draft Caldwell. Unless
they pick up an extra 2nd or high 3rd. I don’t think its gonna happen.

The more I analize the situation. read between the lines. Nolan’s
last Q&A. I think the team is going defense with the 1st 2 picks. I
think the 9ers feel that they can get Oline and WR second day. I feel that front 7 with both picks is very likely. CB & FS not out
    of the question.

They have been signing 2nd tier players for the front 7, the last
few years. Except for Smith this year. They went big DB last year.
Clements, Lewis. TBC was a back up OLB for the Patriots. Not much
help. They have been drafting D line 2nd day for the last few years
also. Except Lawson, Willis. Roman is better suited to be a back up,
    Harris has lost a step.

I know how badly we want Plastic Man replaced. And some quality depth at interior OL. Bruce is a band aid, at his age injury is very
likely. Johnson is on a 1 year contract, so he should be fine this
year, no guarantee that we’ll resign him. So the bottom line is we
    need a WR.

All the so called experts say that OL and WR are the deapest positions for the last 6 to 7 years. I know some will say that Martz
will want Offensive players at the top of the draft, but I think that will only happen if certain blue chippers free fall.

April 26th Sat evening don’t be surprised if 2 of these names are
flying into San Jose International for a photo op. If they don’t
trade back. Or trade one of next years picks to get someone this
year. These names are not in any order except for position.

    DT Balmer, Laws
    DE Groves, Campbell, Jackson
    ILB Mayo
    OLB Avril
    I/OLB Conner
    CB King, Cason, Flowers
    FS R Smith
    SS/FS Phillips

Offensive Blue Chippers I hope fall to 29

    WR Limas Sweed, Devin Thomas
    OT Williams, Otah, Cherilus
    OG Albert

If these 6 offensive players are gone which they should be then I
believe they follow the board and go defense with 29 & 39. And go
Offense with our 3rd and 4th picks. Come on tradesssssssssss.

    Go niners 08

  40. Ryan the 1st says:

I think if Devin Thomas is available that the niners will take him. However, I think they will pass on Sweed at 29. I could be wrong, but I think it could go any way right now. There are so many positions that we could go with, but if we want to win then we need to add starters with our first two picks. This rivals.com idiot said we are going to take Brohm first and Felix Jones second. If Rivals.com were smart they would fire that man ASAP because he obviously has done NO HOMEWORK on the draft to say that!!

  41. Los Banos Jerry says:

Ryan::::::::rivals.com idiot pulled that mock draft write off some-
ones value board. I’ve seen a few value boards that have Brohm at a
29 value and Jones at about 39. Your right he should be fired. This
is gonna be the longest week of the year.

  42. Ryan the 1st says:

By FAR the longest week of the year. Although, I am wondering…..WILL the niners take a TED with their first pick? I am not thinking that is the best way to go, but that position is probably the most likely position the niners could find a starter with the 29th pick. IF THEY DO THAT…..I say go with Mayo or Jackson (Jackson would be a reach at this point). Connor??? He would be fitting to the value chart, but I just don’t know….he plays in the big ten (not the speediest conference). The big ten has always been about the size, the I formation running game, and trench wars between the o and d lines. IF Malcolm Kelly falls to us I will understand if they take him……however, IF we get a starter then I think that Right tackle, TBC replacement, and the TED is the best chance to get someone on the field ASAP. IF we get a receiver then I don’t think they will get on the field that much unless we draft Thomas, Kelly, or Sweed.

  43. Los Banos Jerry says:

I think if Mayo drops to us at 29 we got a starter and possible pro
bowler. He’s your prototypical TED backer. My only question is who
slides over to the outside when we go 4-3. Would it be Mayo or Willis. Conner on the other hand plays both pos. I think we could
trade back a few spots and still get him. I think that Groves or Mayo could fall but not both. Jackson is on the outside and would
most likely beat out TBC. He could still be there at 39.

Did you read what Nolan said on there website???

  44. Ryan the 1st says:

So, Los Banos Jerry, rank em. Jackson, Connor, and Mayo. I think Mayo is who we should go with between them because Crable will be there in the sixth and he is an underrated freak.

  45. Ryan the 1st says:

What did Nolan say, though? I didn’t hear about that.

  46. Los Banos Jerry says:

Some mock drafts have Mayo going 15 to Detroit Lions. A true 1st
rounder. He’s very quick and ran a 4.54. Can go outside when we
switch to 4-3. Conner is gonna be there, between 36 and 40, lighter
and slower has touble shedding blockers, needs to bulk up. Could be
starter by mid season, if he dedicates to weight room. Jackson is the wild card a true DE who could be are pass rusher when we go to
    the 4-3.

    Mayo, Groves, Balmer, at 29
    Phillips, Campbell 30-33
    Conner, Cason 34-38
    Jackson, King 39

I for god and everything hope our draft goes like this

-1st Kenny Phillips, FS, there shouldn’t be any questions, He should replace Roman way before our bye week
-2nd Ryan Clady, OT, a huge tackle but would probably get moved to guard
-3rd Ahtyba Rubin, NT, The only zero gapper other than Ellis in the draft
-4th Colt Brennan, QB, He is a perfect fit for Martz
-6th Eddie Royal, WR, He may not be the fastest but he is damn quick on those slants and Martz seemed to like him
-7th Davone Bess, WR, Yes the next Arnaz battle and should be safe on the pactice squad
