MMP: Holmgren Parcells-like in San Fran

We all know that head coach Mike Nolan is on a short leash. It’s almost a given that if he doesn’t succeed this season he’ll be fired. Well rumors are already flying that if Nolan is let go Holmgren may want to head back to San Francisco, but not as head coach. This go around he’ll want to be in a position like Parcells has in Miami.
- In case you haven’t read it, Spikes is considering an offer from the 49ers, but is also looking to see what other teams might have to offer him. One of those teams are the Patriots.
- Those who still have an Eric Johnson #82 jersey hanging in the closet collecting dust. It’s now time to pull it back out and wear it with pride. Recently signed wide receiver Bryant Johnson has elected to wear #82. So the Johnson jersey is back in style. That is unless Johnson pulls a Woods.
- Nolan knows he has to win this year. (Ya think Mike…)
- No word yet on what the NFL has to say about the 49ers and Bears tampering crap, but Dan Pompei believes the Bears may receive a draft pick from the 49ers. (If that’s the case wonder which draft pick the 49ers will receive from the Dolphins after Smiley signed minutes after FA began.)

Damn that’s good ass news can you imagine mike holmgren coming in on a high upper managment job and bill parcells coming in as coach that would be crazy.

I don’t know. I kind of like our current GM? He’s made very good moves in the off season (including not offering Spikes the farm). Smith is a bit dubious but the rest have been good. I guess I’d like to see how the draft goes and whether his prior two drafts (of which Nolan paid a part) hit this year. If they do, and we get a third good draft, I just go get a new HC.
I just can’t see us losing a draft pick over this. It’s not like we even signed him or went after him once free agency started.
However it was my thought that we would either be slapped on wrist and that was that.. or would get fined or would lose a draft pick. Pat’s lost a pick for cheating they didn’t give it to jets bc of that.It was just forfeited. Why would we give a pick to the bears?. that just makes no sense to me. If it did come down to them taking a pick from us I would think more likely a 5-7th rounder. However I think that is extremely harsh considering we didn’t even go after him once free agency started.
Our current GM is fine and Holmgren is washed up. I’d rather have our team either be good or bad and not wallow in mediocrity for years like the Seahawks.
Parcells isn’t a GM in Miami, is he? I thought he was a president or some shit. I’ll take Holmgren as a president or vice-president, but not as a GM. I like the one we got.
FORGET HOLMGREN. OVER DA YEARS I HAVE COME TO HATE HIM. I KNOW WHERE HE GOT HIS START, BUT I SEE HIM AS A PACKER AND A SEAHAWK THAT TOOK EVERYTHING HE LEARNED FROM THE NINERS AND DUPLICATED IT EALSEWHERE. HE CAN EAT DOG FOOD. I WANT TO BEAT HIM SO BAD THIS YEAR. BESIDES I THINK WE ARE GOOD IN THAT DEPARTMENT. THIS IS GOING TO BE ANOTHER GREAT DRAFT.
