D-Jack Sent to D-Curb

Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the 49ers will send wide receiver Darrell Jackson to the curb. This isn’t really a surprise since Stonehands Jackson couldn’t catch a cold last season.

With the signing of Bryant Johnson yesterday there was a logjam at wide receiver and it seems the coaching staff feels Jackson is the odd man out.

Yes! now its a lock that bryant johnson will start alongside Issac Bruce and we get to see the young star the cardinals let go

We cut DJAX, let’s move on…..it sounded like a necessary move and they are keeping a close eye on the salary cap. However, if tomorrow the Mercury News and Contra Costa times creates another article about him being cut I am going to puke. It’s not like we just cut Randy Moss or Chad Johnson. We are going to draft a couple of receivers so Bruce can teach them the ways of the force. Now, that being said, can SOMEONE please tell me whether Spikes is still in the state of California or not? Since we signed Johnson I am not going to cry that much about DJAX leaving. Next subject please.

Hey Pundit do u have Barrows, or Maiocco on speed dial????? Ask them to call Spikes agent and find out what the hang up is….

  4. Samra says:

Well at lest we got someone from the 2003 draft if not kwame Harris hopefully Bryant Johnson will get it done

  5. Niner Pundit says:

Banos…yeah as a matter of fact I do. Nothing new on the Spikes front. I do know he hasn’t scheduled any visits with any other team. I still say he signs. He is friends with Nate (from their Buffalo days) and have the same agent.

  6. David Lee Roth says:

    Takeo Spikes…..with the Niners?Spikes,Willis,Clements,DE from draft?not a bad lineup.

  7. Forensics187 says:

We need a ball hawking safety now, anyone think we may take a safety at some point in the draft?

  8. 49ersfan77 says:

with jackson gone i bet we will draft a wr now i hope this was the right move go niners

  9. red&goldforlife says:

I dont know if they are going to draft a safety but if Quentin Demps is available in say the third round the niners need to pick him up ball hawking is his speciality!

  10. Niner Pundit says:

    empire….dude that was hilarious.

Natuzho’s most insightful bit yet was this comment:

“when you look at wat the 49ers have they got great talent on the 0-line you may not agree but they do. David Bass and probably kwame harris (who will start on center next year) could compete for the starting position in the C, maybe take some snaps on the pre season.
and maybe we could give Trent dilfer another chance to compete for the starting qb position. or pick up Qb Bryan Cupito(MNGOPHERS) who is really nailing it he could start for any team even if he is a 7th round pick.If you look at the wr co otherwhise in other words we got the best unit-g starting with wr Ashley Lelie who could be a possible 1 wr. And as for jason hill, hell be ready in 3 years.
if you see we could trade a 4rth round pick or maybe pick up tim rattay who is a possible shaun hill.
ON defence we got tully bantacain who will go to the pro bowl i guarantee. Maybe BY will make the squad for another year, he could play more snaps in the preseason as a 1 team player. Maybe Derek smith could start on nickle too. And maybe put tony parrish as a safety to replace that horrible Mark Roman. And put Jamie Wimborn as a MLB in the 4-3 we will use.
Those should really work out on 3 and 2 schemes, with rotating maybe we could get rid of nate clements and hire cornerback Jimmy williams (our ex-PR) he could really make an impact starting with the blitsez, cb blitzes, and more. we could change to a cover 2 scheme and add the nickle and let play D smith and J wimborn.
Another adittion could be Jim Hostler as qb coach, tho he didnt do much for us last year in the offense, he could fit into the scheme like he used to just like Norv turners, west coast offense.
Mike martz was a terrible pic. He was a ram, lion and now a 49er!
i mean i ant say 2 aint as much as 44!!”

  14. West says:

guard Branden Albert, might. I remember talking about Albert with area scout Todd Brunner, who said that every time he saw Albert he was reminded of Larry Allen. It’s not because Albert can bench press 700-plus pounds as Allen once famously did. It’s because they are both big-bodied guards who wear No. 71. Still, you gotta like the comparison.

Another o-lineman to keep an eye on is Heath Benedict from Newberry College in South Carolina. Benedict opened some eyes at the Senior Bowl where he matched up well against defensive ends from bigger schools. (He also got into a fight, which usually earns a gold star in Mike Nolan’s book). Benedict played tackle at the Senior Bowl but he might start out as a guard in the NFL. Benedict showed very good athleticism at the combine, running the 40 in just over five seconds, benching 225 pounds 28 times and jumping 28 ½ inches in the vertical jump.

  15. Samra says:

Heres how i see the draft several things can go different ways and no one is locked for us and this draft could go so bad for us that we may have to draft a RT such as Carl Nicks in round 1 OR it could go as good as a Martz type of receiver falling to us…from these 3 players one will be a niner..Brandon Albert OG Virginia, Desean Jackson WR CAL, Quentin Groves DE Auburn…and word is Groves may not get past the Jags…we very well may just trade our 1st rounder away if things dont fall into place
