Larry Allen Calling it a Day
NFL Network’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Larry Allen is going to retire. A source close to 49ers guard Larry Allen said the 11-time Pro-Bowl and future Hall-of-Fame selection is expected to retire.
This isn’t really a surprise. Granted, it was uncertain whether Allen wanted to return or whether the 49ers wanted him back. But the overall consensus was that Allen would hang it up. The frontrunner to place Allen at the LG position, is Adam Snyder. Snyder placed most of last season at left tackle, due to the injury of Jonas ‘Fragile’ Jennings.

Don't miss any of the action this year at the SBG Global
Well… at least our QB will be able to play for more than 5 games a season.
Is there any possible way to get a player before he gets franchise tagged? is it even allowed?
Thanks for the services and leadership Larry. Now it is time to get these young guys in there and solidify the unit for years.
Ryan the first, all Im saying is stop bitching about it. Would you like to go back to 3 or 4 years ago? Mike Nolan has done a nice job with what he had. Norv Turner fucked us! Give It time or go root for the Cowboys.
no ninersgold, you can’t….
Adam Snyder will replace him? What about David Baas? I thought he was in line to replace Allen…
Baas is already on the right. But I’m not sold on Snyder. He got beat way too many times when playing tackle. Hope he’s got the strength, girth, and strong legs.
Yeah, I agree Lowrance, I am not sold on Snyder either because HE DID get beat a lot when he was a tackle….hopefully the guard position will work out for him better. This is why we should go after Faneca. With Faneca and Staley on the left, put Baas and Mr. Glass on the right (because they obviously don’t want to put him at center) and that would solidify things. However, I also am not sold on Heitman either….I feel that he is VERY average and has done nothing to prove to me that he should be starting. Especially how he got used against the Ravens. I know they are tough on the line, but he was getting thrown like a rag doll.
alright now let see is if baas or some one in the draft can step it up on this team
And missing assignments.
Sign Steelers OL Alan Faneca, he’s a free agent after the season unless they use the franchise tag on him.
Faneca woud be a great addition to our o line and briggs the rest in the draft
I AM A MAJOR FAN of FANECA, but it sounds like McNolan are in love with Snyder….WHY, I don’t know. He would be such a solidifying addition to the line it wouldn’t even be funny. The thing is if we resign Smiley I highly doubt we will go after Faneca so watch for that move. As for Texas9ers, we all complain about things we don’t like DEAL WITH IT!!! Pretending like everything is GREAT IN NINERLAND would be REALLY nieve. If you want things flowery then you’re on the wrong site.
But, no I definitely agree that 3 of 4 years ago it was BAD!!! Nolan has made improvements.
It is just frsutrating because we had such expectations.
I’m telling you dude they are going to be a hole lote better this comming up year. Just have faith. They can’t do any worse.
Yeah, some reason I have a great feeling about next season. Mike Martz makes me excited. Besides that the next draft and possibly getting Briggs. Our team could actually be a force. Our defense will not be on the field as much, and it will be better. Lawson will be back, and I have a feeling that if Alex Smith learns this playbook and the mechanics and grip that Martz teaches QBs, he might turn into the QB we thought he was, or at least he should be. If that is true, he is very young so he will be good for a long long time. Kurt Warner was old when he first started, imagine Alex Smith playing like Kurt Warner in his prime. But Alex will be around for a long time. Get some playmakers in the draft (WRs) and we could get back to the good times. I didn’t feel this good even last year, because there were a lot of questions of losing Norv Turner and it looks like it was all true. If Smith plays in this system very well (it is very very complicated) he could excel in this offense. He played in a spread offense in college it just makes a lot of sense. Martz is exciting Cam Cameron is good. I like the excitement factor. Besides I found out that Marty Schotinheimer was the one calling the offensive plays in San Diego. Our schedule is kinda hard but if we could sweep the rest of the NFC West and beat the AFC East weaklings (Jets,Bills,Dolphins), and the Lions we could have a winning record. We could also get a couple of upsets against the Redskins/Giants and our home games against the Eagles. The eagles could be beat (I am a Niner fan in Philly) also Michael Lewis the big one could get revenge for getting let go. We could turn our 5-11 record about to a 11-5 record. The NFC West Seahawks are getting crappier each year. We can sweep them, Rams are Harder, but we could trash there defense if Martz’s offense is sucessful. The Cardinals are an easy seep as well. MattLeinart/Kurt Warner (the older one). Well I’m hopeful we get Briggs, Quentin Groves in the draft(if Suggs is not available in free agency) and get James Hardy in the second round. Get an offensive guard in the third round or a offensive tackle. Or even a DT that is huge and aggresive. Get a fast playmaker reciver in the later rounds and see if his deep threat speed can be used as a deep threat. There is a reciever that wants to be a Niner that is 6′2″ good size and his goal is to run a 4.2 40 yard dash. He is from Missouri and he is a senior, mahybe we could pick him up in the later rounds of the draft. His name is Will Franklin. if he does run that fast he would be a deep threat every play.

The guy barely gets the ball… because he is always doubled or even triple covered. That’s crazy.
That’ll be sick if we get Desean Jackson in the draft i think hes gonna be one of the sickest wide recievers for years to come, its not about the size its about the talent and potential
