This is what Barlow had to say August of 2006.
“Nolan just doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s a first-time head coach with too much power,” Barlow told the newspaper. “He has too much power as a first-time head coach. He walks around with a chip on his shoulder, like he’s a dictator, like he’s Hitler. People are scared of him. If it ain’t Nolan’s way, it’s the highway.”
Of course Hitler is a little harsh, but it seems Barlow was dead on on the other stuff.

Well if it was like that when barlow was there and still like that then look at where it got us 3-10 but that still doesn’t have anything to do with barlow’s play and besides where is he now but it looks like he was right.
So now what fellas, should they lose the rest of these games to get another high draft pick once again or what? I’m so sick of losing I don’t know what to do and believe me that’s damn sure putting it lightly!

we can not get a high draft pick because the pats have our first round pick so i really hope we can win the next sets of games>>…. Besides i a going to watch the game on sat at monster park and i hope they win cause coming from utah in the winter to california and to see them lose i would be disapointed

RCraig33…never said anything about Barlow’s play. He is what he is, but the fact that what he said at the time is coming to fruition. At the time everyone laughed at Barlow for saying that stuff…..

I think we need to start asking:
Who’s worse Mike Nolan or Dennis Erikson? I never thought it would come to this, but at least Erikson and Rattay weren’t fighting it out in the media. He may have made legendarily bad draft picks, but the team wasn’t falling apart quite like this.
No matter how bad Nolan and the team are doing, any statement coming from Barlow might be a lucky coincidence.
That man ran up the back of too many lineman. Dilfer could gain more yards than Barlow…
Wow. This site is quoting Barlow. What’s next, Ahmed Plummer’s insight? I wouldn’t associate myself with losers when trying to build a case. It doesn’t help your credibility.

Barlow may have sucked, but he definetley was a veteran and even though he was a crappy veteran, they still know things about coaches.

yeah an Nolan traded Barlow for what he said just like he did with Rattay.
Nolan was a good defensive coordinator. He’s risen to his level of incompetence. And his bullying tactics aren’t leading anyone. Maybe he’s intimidating some players but he’s not leading them. Gore is a much better running back than Barlow, but Frank’s not been too happy with the coaching this year either.
If Smith isn’t the quarterback what free agent would want to work under Nolan?
Guys, has anybody heard of Nolan getting fired or stepping down? Legit sources please!

Kevin Barlow is a big pussy,thats why he didnt last with the winning Jets last season,and Steelers this season.Plus Barlow never got along with Fred Beasley our fullback at that time.I have a feeling they are giving Nolan, till next season to see if it was N.TURNES fault or not for this season.But i would like to see us get a west coast offensive minded head coach.

We should continue to get better with the linebackers. Replace mark roman with someone younger, and get the raiders cornerback that is probaly going to leave the raiders (last year of contract). Our defense would be solid. Then fire Nolan the next year (after having another terrible season to get a great first round pick),and get offensive minded. We should get Marty Schotenheimer as head coach. He is always good wherever he is (except getting to superbowl) We should get his brother as our offensive coordinator and make Mike singletary full time defensive coordinator. Our offense would be upgraded instantly and the way Singletary coaches the defense would be even more aggresive than the 1985 Bears defense (okay maybe not that aggressive). This is one solution to then Niners. The raiders corner is one of the best and he is very young. I don’t know his first name and his last name is weird. I think it’s asmougha or something. This is a two to three year process.
i will now go on record of saying i fucking hate Nolan. He was quoted the other day as calling Dilfer a warrior who plays with heart and soul and gives the team a chance to win!!!! is that a fucking joke. mean while smith has been getting bashed for admitting he was playing hurt. anyone with a set of eyes could see that he shouldnt be playing. what is the point of being a “warrior” if u cant hit water falling out of a boat?? he did the best he could for three games and he couldnt take it anymore. in my book there is NO shame in that. Mean while nolan knows nothing about anything!! he never put in Hill, (both Hills), lelie, Moore over smith, he plays hicks over robinson, leaves davis in to block, loves Battle (which i like him too but he is not a number one!!)says D-jax as played well this season, cant convert a 3rd or 4th and one to save his life! i mean this fuckin guy NEEDS to be fired and i think Alex should be praised for his guts and tuff play and we should give him the chance to be a really good QB next yr with a real O-CORD and HC!!!

What the hell happened to all of you who were “rollin with nolan” ?back in the off-season everybody was on nolan’s jock because of the free agents he signed and the draft we had…I’ve been saying this since last year, he is not the answer at HC…he got too much power too fast and he abused his authority and now were in this mess…he got rid of winborn,barlow,rattay,woods,rumph,and lloyd…not that these guys were any worth keeping, but it was all guys he had issues with…and let us not forget he let Julian Peterson go to the seacocks, he didn’t even try to re-sign him/no contract offered.(IDIOT!) if any guy should still be with the team it should have been JP…but he was not his guy…nolan is a selfish double talking liar dictator…but hey he looks good on sundays…
I really don’t see how this situation is going to be made right without either Nolan getting fired OR Smith being given the door. Hostler is going to be gone at the end of the season (or at least he better be). The question IS…..who will the Yorks side with? I think that if they are going to fire Nolan then they better start looking at REAL COACHES….Bill Cowher, Schotty, and be ready to PAY THEM BIG. Furthermore, you also better be ready to get a QUALITY GM. DOING IT RIGHT MEANS SPENDING MONEY ON QUALITY PEOPLE TO DO THE JOB!!! I don’t think the Yorks will have problems spending money, but they need to go after the best while the BEST are available. Cowher as head coach, Grimm as OC, and then bring in Holmgren to GM. I don’t know of a better combo available at the end of the season.

He has worn out his welcome here everybody used to be behind him before even me but he is DUMB cant see past his own nose at the obvious.

The niners better make their move soon if they are going to get a quality coach. NO, I am not saying FIRE NOLAN NOW, but we better do it immediately after the season because the Falcons WILL GO AFTER COWHER and who knows what type of coach will be left after the season. WE NEED SOMEONE QUALITY AND WE NEED THEM NOW!! Time of of the essence in this situation and sadly I think the niners just going to ride this wave out. Hopefully they find someone good because Arthur Blank is going to promise Cowher the moon, the sun, and the stars to coach the Falcons.
Furthermore, http://www.profootballtalk.com is reporting that Singletary has also emerged as an early favorite to take on the Falcons position. The niners better make a move because sitting this one out would be EXTREMELY STUPID. This is NOT a time to sit back and watch where the pieces will fall.

Let’s assume for a moment that the San Francisco 49ers are considering a coaching change. It’s not unreasonable to think that. After all, the Niners are talking openly about hiring a G.M. who would have full control over personnel. And that’s the kind of thing that could hasten the departure of the guy who currently holds all (or, at a minimum, a big part) of that authority. And that guy is coach Mike Nolan.
So given the early rumors that 49ers assistant head coach Mike Singletary could become the next coach of the Falcons, will the Niners move quickly to part ways with Nolan and make Singletary as the head coach?
It’s an interesting situation, to say the least. Especially since Singletary can be hired by any team without the delays associated with “Rooney Rule” compliance. The rule requires that at least one minority candidate be interviewed for each head-coaching job. Thus, there’s no barrier to hiring a specific minority candidate without talking to anyone else.
