It doesn’t matter what happened on that play. You just displayed your knowledge of football by defending Nolan. You kick the field goal and get up by two scores in that situation. Even Houshmanzadeh questioned why they didn’t go for it.

And again, Hostler is better at calling plays at this point than he was at the beginning of the year, so it’s not fair to compare.

Well Andre… it’s been nice chatting with you, but football isn’t as black and white as you think. Only time will tell, but you need to realize all of the variables involved here. Don’t have too short of a memory because I know everyone was just as high on Smith in that game against Seattle last year. He played better than Hill did tonight against a much better defense. He actually threw a bomb, something Hill did not do tonight.
If he plays well in the next two games and he beats out Alex Smith in the pre-season make him the Starter and mith the Back-up and see how far he takes us.
starters have been losing there job to injury more often now…its because the person behind them wants it more and doesnt have all that money to let it get to them….players should prove themselves first before they are paid like that..thats crazy to pay someone so much money just becuase what they accomplished in college because you’ll just never know…drafting is a guessing game

smith is not a stetch the field type of passer…the thing hill shows over smith greatly is timing…look at his timing with jackson its unbelievable how he has better timing with our receivers than smith or dilfer….you ask any of our players who they want as their qb and i guarentee they say hill….you just dont see the confidence as a whole from anyone when smith is out there…yes everyone loved smith last year when he made those plays vs seattle…the keyword though is last year
Actually, Smith has a pretty good deep ball, but no deep threat receivers. Also, you have to develop timing with your receivers on deep balls. Hill didn’t have established timing with Jackson, Jackson was just running a lot of stick routes and slants against a rookie corner. As far as Smith’s timing, he’s been very good at releasing the ball before the receiver makes his break.
And yes… last year… as in he HAS shown his ability. The youngest starting QB in the league isn’t washed up already.
Andre your an absolute idiot! I agree 100% with Big M, Alex Smith is the man and Mike Nolan should be fired.
It may be too soon to know if the 49ers found their Tony Romo or Tom Brady, but one thing is for sure Shaun Hill won’t be at the bottom of the quarback ratings like the 49ers first two quarterbacks. In only a game in a half he has put up better numbers than Alex Smith or Trent Dilfer has ever produced in their respective careers. And he has done it with a broken Index finger. He has earn the confidence of the players, coaches, and most importantly the fans. He has earn the starting job. I want to see how well this guy can finish off the season. Give the fans hope the 49ers are on the rise not the downfall. We have all the pieces we just need a leader to take us to the promise land. Shaun Hill has put a glimmer of hope back into the franchise.

WTF is goin on, Alex Smith sucks and more importantly he always has.
He cant get the ball off on time which explains why he’s hurt. He doesnt see the whole field the way any decent QB can. His pocket presence is horrible. He doesnt know when to get rid of the ball. His hands are way to FN small to be a QB. His leadership skills are the worst in this league. His deep ball is so inconsistent.
Without Gore last year Smith wouldnt of had the mediocre season that he did, and even with Gore this season, Smith’s luck just plain ran out from last year and now his true abilities are showing which means nothing is showing….
Because he should be playing in NFL Europe or the CFL because Alex Smith is not NFL material.
