The 49ers finished 5-11. A disappointing season to say the least. The question now is does Mike Nolan keep his job. The players are here in Frank, Vernon, Patrick, Nate, Joe and a few others. Can Nolan right the ship and get this team winning next season with a new OC and new GM or do the Yorks cut ties now and try and get someone like a Schottenheimer?

By the way this game would have been a win had Shaun Hill played. The Browns didn’t do anything spectacular. Weinke was a sack machine ( by getting sacked a lot) If Hill was healthy we would be 6-10. Only reason why we lost was Weinke, and beacause they had Weinke the play calling was changed to better suit him, which apparently was to run Gore a lot for no points. Weinke could not convert third down. We would have won this game 35-27 if Hill was healthy. The drives would have lasted longer and actually would end up with some points. Anyways I think Alex Smith is screwed. Unless he gets healthy very quickly he is doomed. I watched McNabb play and he sucked and progressively got better after mid season. Alex is going to have trouble throwing the ball after that shoulder injury. I don’t think Alex Smith will be able to heal quickly enough before the competition. If we do get Mike Martz I think Shaun Hill is a good quarterback, but he doesn’t have Alex’s potetntial, which Martz brings out in quarterbacks. Hill would be a great back up, but an average starter, he doesn’t have a lot of tools or potential, but he uses what he has which makes him look pretty good. Plus Shaun would not be able to fit well in the Martz offense, which is perfect for Smith.
Denise actually doesn’t like Nolan, it’s her son who wants to keep him.
Weinke is horrible, I don’t know how he lasted as a backup for so long on the Panthers. But anyways, I’m not so sure about Nolan. There are things I like and don’t like about him. The thing I hate the most is when he doesn’t admit that there are problems. Making Hostler the OC was a terrible decision, and Nolan didn’t admit that was a mistake. If we pick up Martz as an OC that would be great and maybe then I won’t mind having Nolan.

hey the chiefs had nine straight losses, wors than our 8. Lol Look we need to try to get a cornerback, some free agent corners are Asante Samuel, DeAngelo Hall, and Nnamdi Asomugha. They all will most likely leave their teams, asante samuel wants big moneyt he patriots can’t afford him anymore. We need to get Lance Briggs make him a mlb to fit the 3-4 defense, and to have a great Middle Linebacker tandem of Willis and Briggs. We could use a DT like an Albert Haynesworth who might be available. We need to draft or trade for an outside linebacker to replace Tully Banta Cain. We need to draft a big possesion reciever this year, and maybe draft a short really fast slot reciever in the later rounds of the draft. We need to get offensive guards and a tackle early as possible in second-fifth rounds of draft. We will need to get look for defensive linemen in free agency, that are actually proven to be good(Aubrayo Franklin is a good example of crap). We really could use a free safety but we don’t need one right now just yet. If we could do these things and fire Mike Nolan, we will be a great team. We might want to try to get the Patriots or Steelers outside linebackers, they play 3-4 defence as well. (one that starts and is young)not Tully. We could really use another Corner. We would be like Denver’s pass defense, and with Briggs and Lawson pass rushin, i could see a lot of interceptions for us. We should draft another quarterback in next years draft, if we have a top ten pick, if we suck again. We could use a reciever like Adarious Bowman or James Hardy in the draft. They are both tall, James Hardy is more talented and is 6′7″, and can catch the ball. Get rid of Ashley Lelie, Derek Smith, Tully Banta Cain, Trent dilfer, because they are wasting a lot of our cap room we need to help this team out. I think Darrel Jackson could be a good techer to rookie recievers, route running wise, other than that he wastes cap room as well, and trade him for fourth round and fifth round pick that is desperate for a WR, like Minnesota. Anyways Pray to God our scouts are smart and pick up good players, because this team needs them, badly. Shaun Hill looks like a great west coast passer, Smith looks like a spread offense guy. Maybe we could also get a good kick returner, maybe DeAngelo Hall would be great here. (speed speed speed) If we can do this we are set for good years to come, and being good attracts other good players to come over, like the Patriots.

The first thing we need to do is let Dilfer retire and move up Shawn Hill to number two and release Jonas Jennings and move Joe Staley to the left side and let Dave Baas play center and move Snyder to left gaurd to replace Larry Allen(if he retires or leaves) and find a right guard.And then finely get rid of Derick Smith and Bryant Gilmore and find a linebacker except Willis who can pass rush because it will take Lawson a year to get his knees back to normal. Then we need to find a ball hawking free saftey and find replacements for S. Spencer and Walt Harris soon. and then find a decent back up for Frank Gore thats consistant.

Mike Nolan actually may get fired, all the speculation of him staying is apparently false. Molan is NOW going to talk to the Yorks. I don’t know who said his job is safe but apparently that is bull shit. They could still very well “can” his ass. If Marty Schotinheimer doesn’t want to be with us, then Mike Singletary better het the Head Coaching job. I would love to see Schotenheimer though, we would have an offense. I really hope that we go after Lance Briggs and that we get a cormer like DeAngelo Hall to complement Clements. Walt Harris is okay, but he will be leaving real soon and we could use Hall’s speed at corner and as a returner. If we could get Albert Haynesworth we would have a decent defensive line. All you need is that one Defensive tackle that can take two linemen on at once, and the ends will be free and so will the blitzing linebackers. We need to get James Hardy, he will be a great reciever for years to come even if he’s not with us. If we had Melvin Oliver back that would be nice too.
It is looking like Nolan will meet with John York tommorrow, and will then be informed that he’s fired. It also looks like McLoughan should then be offered the GM position after Nolan’s firing, possibly as soon as Wednesday. This is pretty much what I’ve conluded from different media reports.
It would be very interesting if we were to go after McDaniels from NE as our new HC. That matchup vs. NE would be very interesting. I’m just throwing that possibility out there. Don’t give it any weight.

But the problem with making a judgement on any of the offensive players is that the coaching has been so bad you can’t really tell. Hill was kept on the bench because he wasn’t a good practice player. Smith was played despite his dislocated shoulder. Dilfer was played because Nolan liked his spirit. What happened to Lelie? Nolan didn’t like him. Can anyone definitively say that Lelie is worse than he was? He never played. DJax was competent in Seattle, worthless for most of the year in SF. Do they have Vernon Davis in camouflage? How come they don’t throw to him? In short, every offensive player who comes to SF plays worse than wherever he came from. That’s awful coaching.
Nolan should go. Jed needs to get over his man crush on him. Dilfer must go. Larry Allen should retire.

Nolan isn’t a terrible coach, he has positives and negatives, which add up to his own brand of mediocrity. The 49ers should attempt to retain Shaun Hill, demote Alex Smith to 2nd string, draft Colt Brennan and groom him for to be a starter in 2009, and release Dilfer. If they can do that and obtain a first-rate wide receiver then they will have a decent shot at making the playoffs. If they can get a better coach than Nolan (Schottenheimer) they should do that as well.
