Smith Still Hurting…

Quarterback Alex Smith finally said what everybody who has watched the 49ers the past three games already knew: His shoulder is greatly affecting his play. And not only that, but his forearm is bothering him, too.
While 49ers head coach Mike Nolan has said the reason for Smith’s problems with inaccuracy is not tied to his shoulder, it is quite apparent that Smith has not thown with anywhere near the precision that is expect from an NFL quarterback.
Smith admitted that his shoulder AND his right forearm have been bothering him. Smith first experienced forearm problems during the bye week after he began throwing a lot after having his right arm in a sling for several days.
Smith will not take part in the team portion of practice today because of a forearm strain. While Nolan said he expects Smith to play Sunday, Smith did not make any commitment.
I think we we're really lucky to win that game... the defense wasn't great. They let gradkowski and campbell chuck ...

I am wondering if Smith’s making excuses because of the pressure of the whole country calling him a bust. Wouldn’t these issues with his mechanics and overthrowing come out in practice? I mean he does THROW the ball in practice, doesn’t he?? Why does he have to fuck up only in actual games????
I’m not sure but I think there’s some “behind the scenes” shit going on that no one in the media has a clue about.
It doesn’t matter who the hell starts at quarterback against the Lambs or anybody else we play this year…this team will NOT win another game as long as we ’stay the course’, truth is unless we change things quite dramatically, the ‘course’ will be to a 2-12 season with most of the coaches coming under some heavy fire in the offseason with good reason. Fire Nolan, get some good coordinators and hire Singletary as head coach. With a good draft and some luck, they may just turn this bitch around.

Are you serious that the face of our franchise is actually making excuses for his horrible play? Reality check Alex, you have been playing like shit even before your injury, also a hurt shoulder has nothing to do with your lack of pocket presence, your inability to get rid of the ball quickly, or read the coverage and audible accordingly, theres rookies playing out there that have been able to do this. Im finished with this guy, we better bring someone in next year to push him to take the no.1 spot, because this shit is unacceptable, fuck being 49ers “faithful” its time for the 49ers to expect nothing less then excellence, anything less is simply this franchise being unfaithful to us fans

The more they lose, the better our pick gets. They just lost Freeney for the season and have lost two in a row. It’s time to start rooting for anyone that plays the Colts!

They just love the notion that a number 1 pick can potentially be a bust. so all of you smith haters should look at the games/facts and decide FOR YOURSELF where the problem lies with the niners and stop listening to fools like jay mariotti among many many more. because i guarantee you once you step outside the hypnosis that the media has thrown at you about smith sucking, you will realize that the problem lies with coaching mostly, along with a piss poor line. i mean PISS POOR. Even Nolan isn’t so stupid as to draft anyone other than an O-lineman with their first pick. We’re not going to have an offensive line to speak of after this season.

Speaking of the defense, FUCK this 3-4 shit, we can’t run it. Switch back to a 4-3 and get some youth at D-end (Oliver) and roll with Lawson, Willis, Haralson, or draft another LB. Nolan has an eye for good LB’s.

Actually, KNBR’s Rod Brooks was talking about Smith the day after the last Seattle game and said that Smith was overthrowing his receivers in practice three hours before the game, just like he did in the game.
So his problems with throwing the ball SHOULD HAVE BEEN VISIBLE to the coaching staff if they cared to look. Hostler should have been asking Smith about this. The QB coach should have been asking how come he’s overthrowing his receivers, or at least why he makes funny faces and grabs his shoulder after he throws. At some point the Niners braintrust should have linked the shoulder separation with his continued inability to throw accurately. Don’t you think?
I have never understood how come Hostler (which means Nolan) hasn’t figured out that Davis is more valuable as a pass receiver than as a blocker.
Since their wide receivers have been so bad, why not split out Davis, or at least run two-tight end formations with the OTHER tight end doing the blocking? Or put in Estes and just have him block all the time while Davis runs wild through the opponents’ secondaries?
Have to agree with most about this arm bull, the fact is I cant say it loud enough, Alex smith was playing like crap well before the injured shoulder I for one I am done and to think we let jeff garcia go….
