Sorry to say, but they need to get rid of Nolan and Smith. Nolan for hiring Hostler in the first place he should have known better. He is turning the 49ers into that boring style of football team he coached in Baltimore. Not Niner football. As for Smith I was never really sold on him in the first place coming from WMC an average confrence. The Niners better off getting Marty Schottenheimer as a coach he is the best fit. He probably will not want it though?
This explains a lot to me. I think we need to just stop all the Smith-bashing. He obviously was playing hurt, and now HE finally admits it. I think we need to let him rest, and if that means shutting him down for the season, then do it. We’re not going anywhere this year anyhow. We have all seen what a healthy Smith, along with an OC who has a clue, can achieve. I can see where Smith wanted to be tough, and put the team first, but playing hurt, isn’t helping. Honestly, we would have had a better chance of winning games with Dilfer than an injured Smith. I still think we need a new OC, and maybe a new direction (4-3) on defense, but leave Smith for 1 more year. After all he is only 23 years old. He has the skills, and the smarts to be great. He now needs the coaching, and Hostler isn’t the answer. We need to make this a priority along with WR in the off season. I think Smith needs to put his pride aside and be honest, and if he’s hurting, then rest is what he needs. I still believe we will eek out a win against STL. Our DB will shut down Holt, and Bruce is hurt. On defense for them, their best pass rusher is down for the year. If they use Gore for more than 20 carries (we are 8-1 when he gets 20+ carries ) and actually throw the ball to VD, we will have a chance. Mark my words, we can do this !

I used to think of him like a Bill Walsh like coach, being that losing was unexceptable, but know he seems like he wants to stay the say stagnent team and not make 49er like changes. 2. We need a new QB veteran or in draft, if we go draft look at colt brennan out of hawaii.
3. We need Big Tall receivers, I would suggest Maurice Purify in the upcoming draft and one more Big Tall veteran receiver. Enough of these short ass arena football receivers, they do not work in the NFL. Look at the problem jackson had gettin to the ball, and gettin seperation from same sized backs. Moss would’nt of had that problem.
4. Keep Gore and Vernon with a good QB they’ll flurish and kick ass.
5. Keep Nolan for one more year and just realizes hell let someone run the offense and he’ll be the manager of the team.
6. Get the 49er attitude back were losing is unexeptable and winning is everthing. The player should eat, shit and breath 49er footbal and winning. The team should do whatever it takes via trade or anything else to win!

Dilfer got into a tussle with tarrel Brown at practice today…thank god someone finally got that balls to tell him he sucks..lol…Lelie hurt his quad or whatever again…Jason Hill Will suit up for thee game..Shuan Hill hurt his hand by hitting a helmet and Arnaz Battle Immediately stepped in… id rather see Micheal Robinson out there…he looked alot like Jason Campbell in college and i thought he was pretty accurate…if i were co-ordinater Robinson would start in a max run block scheme with both Hicks and Gore on the feild at the same time…i would also sign Clyton to rotate into the game and only throw to either VD, Battle or Jason Hill or Brian Gilmore who’s stepped it up recently
Next year i think we should try to make a trade with the bears and try to get Kyle Orton .And next we should try to get offensive tackle Max Starks or guard Kendal Simmons from The Steelers.But if not,WE should get a west coast offensive coach.I think offensive cordinator from seatle Gil Haskell would be a nice fit as a 49ers head coach.But that is just a pipe dream i had toke toke.

I don’t understand why some of you think that Smith should go. We all saw what he did last year..huuuge strides from his rookie year. He just tried to do too much, coming back from the injury too soon, and tried to play through pain. Not good, when the pain is in your throwing arm. This would explain the passes that even 10 foot tall receivers would have to jump for. With the right OC, Smith will be back to ‘06 form. We do however, have to FIND the right OC, and not 2 weeks before camp like this year. We have some of the right pieces. I do think a 4-3 would be better with Lawson and possibly TBC at the ends, with Douglas and either Fields or Franklin @ DT. we are giving up way too many runs, especially by QB’s up the middle..no big bodies there. Just 1 guy to block. I like Battle, but only in the slot. Try Hill at WR with Lelie or even Gilmore. I agree with getting a tall WR. Maybe go after Copper of N.O. in the off season. What do you think boyz ?

I guess keep Baas a right guard and then draft a right tackle or put Snyder there (however Snyder is showing the same speed rusher weakness as Kwame). If we keep Kwame, I am sorry to say, he is our best option at right tackle especially because the niners have openly admitted they want to ultimately want Staley at left tackle. We still need to get a couple of picks at least on our line because it isn’t solid enough by a long shot.

I think we have to much talent there to lose ALL year. I honestly think we will end up 6 – 10. If we had known that Smith was never totally healthy, we could have beaten ATL and maybe N.O. with Dilfer getting much needed reps. He may have the mobility of my grandmother, but atleast all his passes aren’t 5 feet over everyones head. I think we need to give Smith the rest of the year to heal, and get a realy OC and a tall WR and see what happens. We saw glimpses of Smith last year, so what’s not to be hopeful for next year.
I’ll feel good if our niners beat the rams but what will it really prove? what they can beat a team with a record of 1-8? this has not been a good season for us once again not to mention that they beat the seahawks twice last year without the free agents and drafting Patrick Willis and we lost to the seahawks twice with a suppose to be a much more talented squad this season this is not good yall!
