Green Brought in for a Workout

Nov 07, 2007 18 Comments by Niner Pundit

Update: Green re-signed.

One of the few players who actually could get to the quarterback was brought in again yesterday for a workout. Roderick Green who had 4.5 sacks in 9 games last season with the 49ers, is on the verge of possibly being re-signed. All I have to say is about damned time.

The knock on Green is that he is one-dimensional and that all he can do is pass rush. My question is how is that any different than what Tully Banta-Cain can do, at least Green can get sacks.

Aren’t we due to sign or release Zach Keasey?

  3. NinerPundit says:

Douche…that will not happen until Friday. When they release Navies to sign him.

    desperate coaches do desperate things

  5. MoneyMike says:

you know its bad when we get excited over signing roderick green. .

  6. AXEGRINDER says:

Who’s excited? HAHAHA. Mike Nolan’s so-called “desperation moves” remain to be seen later in this season.

Of course I’d love for the 49ers to blast the Seahawks on Monday night and for Smith to throw for 400 yards and 4 touchdowns. But since that probably won’t happen, alls there is to look forward to is Nolan talking about team character and how they are still in it after going 2-7. That would be priceless. All time low.

OK everyone needs to chill. First off yes this team is playing terrible this season but the scary part is we’re only 2 games back of seattle for the division. with 8 games left in the season stranger things have happened. now im just trying to stay positive an more likely odds are we go 6-10 maybe but never know nowadays. maybe next game will start the turn around for the season an we can get on the right track an go on a run.
try to stay positive rather then being so damn negative. fans stick by a team they dont bash it like everyone here has been.

  8. SanDiegoNiners says:

we should sign that one running back that we had in the preseason( i forgot his name) but he was really good, he had the most yards and average on our team.

  9. NINERTIME says:

what they need to do is bring back Dennis Green and along with it our offense!

Dr. James Andrews has perhaps been more instrumental this week than Justin Smiley has been all year in anouncing that Smiley will undergo season ending surgery after an evaluation today.
With Smiley out for the year not only will this strengthen our o-line this year but perhaps for years to come. Smiley will be replaced with David Baas who hands down has performed at a higher level than Smiley. With Smiley now out for the year and set for unrestricted Free Agency his value will defintely crash and perhaps allow the niners to resign him next year.
With resigning Smiley the niners will be able to put him at LG when undoubtably Larry Allen retires. Smiley excelled at LG in 2005 when Eric Heitman was moved to center. With the interior of the line covered by heitman, baas, and Smiley; the niners can easily keep Adam Snyder at tackle and perhaps release Jonas Jennings. Such a move would give us the following Lineup:
    LT Joe Staley
    LG Justin Smiley
    C Eric Heitman
    RG David Baas
    RT Adam Snyder
So i guess smiley’s injury wasnt a bad thing after all.

dude i dont give a shitball on the ass crack hair of nolans ass if we win our division-we’ll still suck-i’m tired of stinking up the league-the 49ers organization needs to demonstrate that its not satisfied until they get the right man & men to get that 6th ring and ultimately command the respect of the NFL-show me by firing nolan & make a supreme effort for Bill Cowher

  12. Indiana Jim says:

8-game win streak right here, fellas! WOOOOO!

Okay I know that’s not the most substantive thing to say. Actually I predict the 49ers will lose this game, because I’ve been finding reasons they can win all season long. Figure if I go opposite the streak could reverse itself.

  13. Medford says:

Tully Banta No Sacks no wonder New England let him go. Do u guys remember the last time we played against Seattle? Im not saying I dont wish that we would win but its going to be difficult. Green should have been on the roster the hole season. What was Charles Haley = Pass Rusher. Go to the 4 down lineman and russ with Green.

THE SEACOCKS ARE AN AVERAGE TEAM WE LOSE THIS ONE THEN NOLAN WILL REALLY START FEELING THE PRESSURE!!!!

  14. Medford says:

    that should say wouldnt win

    sorry

  15. Douche Bag says:

Any word on Keasey NinerPundit? It’s almost Friday.

I really liked Green and thought he was a good fit for our olb spot. Especially for obvious passing situations. We need to start B. Moore too. D. Smith sucks!! WAY to SLOW!!

  17. sf49ers says:

rememebr last yr wen we went up to seattle..we had second and third string players in and we played better defense..so i think we should be okay this time around ..but as for our offense, they need to come up together today..its a big stage for both alex and davis..so lets go niners..lets go and kill the hawks
