I missed last weeks Eddie awards after the Rams game, so I figured I’m come of the gates much sooner this go around, and with the lose fresh in our minds, the awards will be much easier to give out.
- The Eddie for the greatest foot in the game goes to Andy F’in Lee.
- The Eddie for biggest ass in the game (literally) and not being a defensive lineman goes to jugass Jeff Reed.
- The Eddie for the most crullers eaten in one sitting goes to Jeff Reed.
- The Eddie for the best block of the day goes to Arnaz Battle for opening up Vernon Davis’ 31-yard catch early in the game.
- The Eddie for you won’t beat us going to your starting receivers goes to Nate Clements and the rest of the secondary.
- The Eddie for the best hit of the day goes to Patrick Willis for laying out Hines Ward.
- The Eddie for the best throw of the day goes to Mike Nolan for throwing the red flag into the Steelers huddle.
- The Eddie for the Vaseline play of the day goes to the refs who apparently don’t realize what a catch is.
- The Eddie for the best move of the day goes to Mike Nolan who offered his glasses to the referree after the horrible challenge call noted above.

Hey guys, this is a simple call. The offensive coordinator did better, but is STILL A MORON! You can’t run Frank Gore to the left of the center or the right of the center EVERY PLAY. He isn’t that type of back. The play calling is predictable when we are going to run. Because of that we are going to have major problems running the ball. IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!! I don’t blame Frank Gore at all. He needs some screen passes or some pro lefts….anything beats grinding down the middle against blitzburg….pull your head out Hostler!!!! Someone please tell me that Vernon Davis isn’t seriously injured because he didn’t return to the game.
Haven’t heard about VD. Hopefully the one shot on the sidelines of him standing was him smiling and not gritting his teeth in pain….didn’t look bad… let’s hope…
I didn’t see the game living in philly and all but I’ll say this maybe Trent Dilfer needs to start the next game from the stats I saw going into the half I know how most of us feel about Alex Smith so I’M JUST SAYING!
Nah, I’d leave Smith in there. He’s got to go through his growing pains. Now if he stays this way the entire season, then look for other options.
anyone who watched the game and thinks smith needs to be taken out is an idiot. This was probably smiths best if not for that bogus call and our WRs not being able to hold on to the ball the box score might have reflected that.

Still though, I bet if they put Dilfer in there you would see the offense get in rythem. Maybe Smith just needs another year of learning or something. He is still really young, Dilfer would probaly have quality starts. Let Smith watch heavily involved on the sideline.

these two calls cost us 3 points at least and 7 at most. 17-14 looks a lot better than 20-9…
And anyone who thinks should put dilfer in after the 3rd game of the season does not know anything about football at all. You take smith out now and you kill the confidence in him compeletly. He is young and todays game was his best so far this year against the best defense he’s played this year. With the play calling opening up a bit more this week he showed improved stats. Keep in mind the min. play calling we had first 2 weeks. this being the first week opening up the playbook a bit he played alot better. People jump on to many things way to early. This was only week 3 of the season and we are 2-1. Its not like we’re 0-3. so everyone needs to relax. this week showed that as offense gets use to playcalling and gets opened up a bit more each week could be very good by week 6. Not to mention all dilfer can do is MANAGE and offense right now. He’s not a great QB. He’s average. who would more then likely put up the same stat line as smith. If smith is going to be the QB of the future GIVE THE KID A CHANCE!!!!!!!! It’s his 3rd season and he has gotten better each year so far. If you dont like him then suck it up and stand behind him just for the simple fact your a fan of the team and HE IS THE STARTING QB whether you like it or not. Most of us make these suggestions like we are all brilliant well if any of us were we’d be out there on the field coaching and the coaches would be sitting behind a computer screen doing whatever.
The def. is playing very well though. Secondary is playing great. Clements and M. Lewis are playing so well they are earning every bit of money they are being paid.
Oh and Gore runs between the tackles because thats his strength. He doesn’t have break away speed to be running sweeps every play. He’s a power running back. Played a tough defense today and as much as he is playing this year for his mother(RIP) I’m sure this game was still hard on him since he just buried her this past week.
He will get back to his 100yard games with no worries. Not to mention fact he didn’t play all preseason so I’m sure he’s still getting adjusted. Practice and Games are completely diff. and anyone who has played a sport knows that is true. Offense opened up some this week as it continues to open up they will have to take that extra player out of the box and gore can go wild.
GIVE IT TIME SHOW SOME PATIENCE NOTHING HAPPENS OVERNIGHT. GIVE IT TILL WEEK 6 IF AFTER 6 WEEKS NOT LOOKING GOOD THEN SAY WHAT YOU WILL and I’ll probably agree with time to make a change but in meantime everyone needs to take a step back and chill out. Give it 3 more weeks. See where were at before start complaining about everything.
if we can open up the playbook a little like we did against the steelers we are going to destroy the seahawks next week. The bengals got a shitty defense and the seahawks barely won. Alex Smith will break out next week and Gore will run all over their asses, and i dont think Seattle will do shit against our D.
Smith is wack, 1 fucking TD in 3 games? Under 200 yards n 2 wins. Yea, its the offense cordinators fault. (Sarcasim) I’d pick Grossmans ass over him about right now. Smith will be good in his 5th or 6th year, but right now he is a Boller, Carr type Qb. compare Smith to Cutler, Campbell, and Lienart. Smith is way behind. The part that really kicks my ass is this is Smith’s 3rd season, those guys are in their 8th game and 2nd season as starters and look way better. A QB leads a team to wins, Smith is not getting it done!
The problem is that we need a better Receiving Corp. “Plain and Simple!” The receivers we have are too small, and they can’t get to the ball. We need to trade Kwame Harris and B. Williams for an big Target. I’ll say it again, we need to experiment, and Rotate Vernon Davis to Receiver. We do not have many options. We can only do a trade or the rotation to open our offense!
This same shit will go on. Our defense has a A- and our offense has a C. At this point we need a miracle or a new offensive coordinator, which want happen. So try my option on my above comment. Trust me it will work. Vernon has the weight of the tight end, but the height of a Receiver! Or just get that big Receiver in a trade, if any Big Receiver is available!

Smith does look like he is coming of the bench every game. Startled, nervous, throwing high laying our receivers out there. We need a gun slinger not a guy who “leaves yards on the field”. Thats his favorite saying now. Nolan kisses A.S. ass…
I want to have faith, and I want to believe Smith is our guy, he has looked good at times, but damn, the bad out ways the good by a long shot. And then you guys like undrafted Romo who are lighting it up. Smith was a first round pick, THE FIRST PICK, and looks like shit 80 percent of the time. I’m only saying what we are all thinking, I only pray at some point this season I eat my words.
Two seasons and three games into this season and has Smith thrown a pair of TD’s yet? I don’t think so, but if so, I KNOW he hasn’t thrown three. What the fuck?

I agree that you don’t abandon the run, but while Gore’s bread and butter is between the tackles Allen et al aren’t pushing anyone. So either throw screens to him, run a few draws or do something to shake up the nine guys right on the other side of the line.
You need to keep that bag over your head because you’re retarded. Alex Smith’s best receiver right now has been dropping balls and hasn’t broke any plays. At best he would be the 2nd receiver on other teams. How the hell do you want him to be great? Vernon Davis hardly played last year and it looks like he might be done this year too. The past two years the 49ers have had the sorriest receiving corp. and it’s arguable that they still do this year. He doesn’t turn the ball over a lot and he makes good plays when he gets the blocking and when his receivers get open. He’s not getting any help from the running game or the line so back off him would ya? Morons like you talk as if he came into this great 49ers offense and hasn’t been able to get it going. He hasn’t had squat to work with and right now he’s the best player on the offense. If you don’t like what Smith has shown you’re insane and you should go start a Dilfer fan site if you think he is so great.
first of all, the wide outs Smith has are in the NFL, meaning they have skill in one way or another. Smith plays scared, slow to pull the trigger and extremely indecisive. Secondly he has Gore and a good line. Excuses are like assholes, we all have one, and they all stink. Frankly, I’m sick of hearing it. I’m not saying get rid of him, but bench that ass for a couple.
Like I said rotate V.D. to receiver and this will open up the offense. Trade Harris and B. Williams for that big Receiver if theirs is one available! Do you Guys read this shit! The roatation will work. V.D. will get more catches at that receiver route and more T.D’s

Why are you quick to badmouth Smith and not Gore? Gore hasn’t done squat either. Why does he get a free pass? Name one person on that offense who is doing a great job. You can’t do it because they are struggling as a unit. So get off of Alex’s back.
The line isn’t giving A. Smith much time. But when Alex works from the shotgun his a better Q.B. We need to use more shotgun plays. He reads the defence better.

Gore IS capable, but running him UP THE MIDDLE EVERY PLAY IS STUPID. Like it or not, that is what the majority of their run plays are and it makes little sense to me not only because they do it, but they make it SO DAMN PREDICTABLE!!! The niners need to bring something new to the drawing board because this offense is SORRY! We have a HUGE matchup next week….that is the “who is who in the NFC West game” this game already has playoff implications. If they want to go the playoffs like we all have been talking about then Seattle is a must win game…period.
That was f’ing hilarious when nolan offered the glasses to the ref. I was fucking going ballistic when they made that call an incomplete pass. Even the fucking commentators knew what was up. It was and interception or a fucking catch. And it was obviously a catch. That would have given the niners a fucking touchdown and me 20 or so more yards for my fantasy team.
They should run some counter plays with gore.

you can pretty much count this year a rebuilding year.we will go 8-8 at best.we’ll be second in the NFC west.next year is our year to shine.we finally got our defense in check now next year we need to clearly focus on offense.1.OC 2.WR’s 3.Oline

The Niners are going to blow the Seahawks out this week. 8-8? This team is going 11-5 and making the playoffs. Both offense and defense have improved in each game. As long as that continues they will be a solid team at the end of the season. I almost feel sorry for the Seahawks. The 49ers are pissed right now.
