Niners Lose First of the Year

Well so much for going 16-0. The 49ers hung in there for awhile, but they still have work to do on offense. I guess you could say if you take away the kickoff return touchdown, the interception return touchdown, and the garbage touchdown by Davenport, then the 49ers tied the Steelers and it would be going to overtime. Okay I know that can’t happen, but the 49ers showed signs of a good football team. The offense finally moved the ball to an extent and Smith finally threw a touchdown, unfortunately they couldn’t run the ball again and receivers dropped passes.

I’m not going to be to pissed off, I’ll tell myself no one expected a victory here and the game was closer than the scoreboard showed. I will leave it with this, I love how the refs love f’in us.

  2. Bob In Pacifica says:

Two teams in the division have already lost. The Seahawks should have their hands full with the Bengals.

If there weren’t all those bad calls the Niners might have had a chance, but let’s all just admit that the Steelers are a much better team at this stage.

  3. Ninaz says:

the niners and steelers are 2 solid teams, it was the bad calls and mistakes that killed us.

  4. Lowrance says:

Glad at least that Arizon and the Rams lost. That helps. C’mon Cincy!!!
Okay, take what we learned today and take back first place next week. Hopefully VD is 100%. Navies played well today substituting.
More aggressive receivers doing what we pay them for will help. We NEED them to take the pressure off of Frank.
And the Offensive Lineman battle on the sidelines? Let’s find out who missed the block. I thought it was Jennings, but never saw a replay. Get MAD gentleman…get MAD!!!!! Then take it out on the Seahawks!
Just heard Who’sYourMomma in the other room just scored for Cincy!!! Go Bengals!!!

  5. mouse says:

I’m officially joining the club for the removal of Derek Smith from the line-up. He’s had three bad games and this one was the worst. I’d rather have Brandon Moore in there screwing up than Derek Smith. At least he can rush the passer. Anyone who though that Manny Lawson’s injury wasn’t going to be a huge impact can ask Heath Miller who toasted the linebackers all day. There were a lot of positivies in this game though. The bottom line is that the Steelers are a better all around team. This is one loss that we can really build on because they were actually in the game for most of it.

  6. Ninaz says:

derek smith has to go, ben roethlisburger outran him like he was devin hester!!!

  7. razoreater says:

now we see why lelie is not the 3rd receiver-jeesh-what a worthless route he ran

  8. hyphyniner says:

    FUCK PITTSBURGH!…but then i guess we’re not a 16-0 team yet…ha ha

  9. Ninaz says:

are you guys serious about going 16-0? the niners are my team and as a fan you must be realistic and the niners have gladly been getting by. This is a wakeup call for Nolan to realize the talent he has and not using but 16-0 yeah right im looking for a 9-7 or 10-6 season wildcard entry!!!

  10. Xaos50 says:

About Leile, yeah, I think Nolan killed his morale.

  11. Niner Pundit says:

Ninaz…yeah the 16-0 was a joke. Guess I should have spelled it out for you.

  12. Doc Iac says:

    the offense is horrid

  13. 1st to Six! says:

Does anyone notice Nolan keeps sticking up for Alex S. , he cant stay calm in the pocket and most of his passes are thrown high…

  14. Ninerfan81' says:

I came on here to see what folks were saying about the game and to get away from some of the crazy talk on other blogs! I mean people are using words like “Horrible, KILLED and Terrible” to discribe our play today.

My handle says it all, fan since 1981 and will always be! We weren’t supposed to win this game, (if we did that would be great) but on paper we were over matched!

Terrible would be the RAMS who are 0-3. Horrible would be watching Rex Grossman play (he’s thrown for 1 TD) and Buffalo got KILLED by the Pats today.

We played good enough for 3 quarters and then it got out of hand. We’ll regroup and play Seattle and Baltimore next 2 weeks and hopefully be 4-1!

    Go Niners Go!!

  15. wendell says:

my thoughts? derek smith needs to wake up. ashley lelie needs to become a complete route runner for f’s sake. i’m a little concerned about all of our receivers and i thought vernon looked great up until he got hurt. i hope he’s ok. we’re going to need him.

p.s. what the f happened with that interception? is that on alex or taylor?

  16. A True Niner Fan says:

that was just a really bad porrley played game……not to mention the refs screwing us over as always……remember when they tryed to give them that catch when his foot was clealey out……somtimes I swear were playing against 2…the other team and the officials……hopefully we get this thing turned around for the big 1st place matchup winner take all against seattle next week

  17. McLovin says:

    c’mon 10-6, we are a 6-10 team.

  18. hyphyniner says:

thats your team MCLOVIN…not tha NINERS…maybe the rams, cardinals n seahawks are ur team…
