Pasquarelli: 49ers a Team on the Rise
Finally out of salary-cap jail, the 49ers have spent this offseason as if all the extra money is burning a hole in their corporate pockets. But veteran additions will permit coach Mike Nolan to finish the transition to the 3-4 defense that he prefers, and the secondary should be much improved with the presence of big-money free agents Nate Clements and Michael Lewis. Frank Gore emerged in 2006 as a premier tailback and quarterback Alex Smith made positive strides. No reason the improvement won’t continue in 2007.

Also Rashan Woods is gonna be starting in NFL Europe for the Rhein Fire
If we can some how trade some picks or a person or if not both and not give up our 2nd it would be lovely. As far as Okoye he is gonna be a beast. Remember he is still young and his speed can still be developed. This guy has alot of upside. I know we won’t get him because of Willis. However Anthony Spencer is a guy worth looking at if we get an additional firt round pick after we get Willis. Getting a receiver in the early part of the draft is not going to be beneficial right away. Unless we get the obvious top receiver or Meachem. I know some of you guys love Jarrett, but I don’t think he’s the guy for us right now. This is A deep receiver class.
–The 49ers have re-signed linebacker Hannibal Navies, an eight-year veteran who started three of the six games in which he appeared for the club late last season.
–The team waived linebacker Renauld Williams, who was on the active roster for three games.
–Free-agent linebacker Colby Bockwoldt is getting close to finalizing a deal with the 49ers. New special teams coach Al Everest coached Bockwoldt two seasons with the Saints. Bockwoldt started 23 games in two years with the Saints, but he played almost exclusively on special teams last season with the Titans. He led the Titans with 20 special-teams tackles. The Titans did not tender Bockwoldt as a restricted free agent.
–According to official NFLPA figures, the 49ers were $15.614 million under the salary cap as of yesterday.
–Newly signed defensive end John Syptak will be allocated to NFL Europe. Receiver C.J. Brewer will not be playing in the league, as originally planned.
–A couple former 49ers players signed with clubs this week: WR Derrick Hamilton with the Falcons and CB Sammy Davis with the Bucs.

49er’s RULE!!!
Our 2nd RD pick and K.Harris and maybe a 4th
Niners draft
1st RD ILB Patrick Willis
1st RD WR Dwayne Jarrett or Bowe one of them will drop
3rd RD De/Dt
3rd RD FS
4th RD RB If Hicks signs somewhere else
4th RD DE/olb
4th RD cb
5th
6th
OK….so how did we get the other 1st pick without giving up any picks of our own????? The patriots aren’t STUPID enough to take Kwame the Lame.
I just looked on the scout.com’s mock draft for us and they have us taking willis first and Houston (the CB from Arkansas) in the second…..I REALLY doubt he will make it that far, but if he does then we will have one of the deepest secondaries in the league. I still think we should hunt for our free safety of the future because Roman is good now, but we need someone who can be GREAT later.
Come on guys WAKE UP…where did you all go???
heres what we should do on the first day
1st RD Patrick Willis
2nd Round Ray McDoanld
2nd Rd (trade 4th and 3th and a 4th next season) Quientin Moses
3rd (compensentry) Jacoby Jones
first round-adam carriker, second round-dave harris or h.b. blades, third round- ot doug free and
our second third round-wr.craig davis l.s.u.
Yeah, we NEED to make a move for either another first or second round pick. We have too many picks NOT TO. Picking up another first rounder might be wishful thinking, but we SHOULD go after another second round player. What if Sidney Rice falls to us….do we take him or not??
The second round of this draft is going to be bargain central.
Another mock draft I saw showed us picking up Datish(the center from Ohio State). What’s up with that??
In the third round.
first get mike tyson to bite terrell owens ear off ,2ndroundget a pumkin to turn in to a deon sanders, third round tap heels together three times and say theres no place like wining the superbowl .
third round drew rosenhuose falls on a bed of nailes pushed by TO.forth round kwame harris cuts his hair and GROWS SOME now he can see what he id doing. 5th round ashley changes his name to al and sells ONCORE LASONIA DINNERS and comes too your house for dinner6TH ROUND SAMMY DAVIS sells cigerettes to miners and goes to jail and his cell mate is mikel jackson.
we should try and get the RT(Maurice Williams) from JAX who was replaced by Tony Pashos through FA in a three way trade involving kwame with a team willing to give up a draft choice for us to compensate the jags with
Keith Lewis wont start over Mark Roman…Roman will get most tyme
I know Roman will start, but we should find someone to take over for Roman in the next couple of years. The draft would be a perfect way to do this. If we trade up for a second first rounder then we could maybe get our hands on willis and reggie nelson….think about that.
Ryn… Feel u onthe Roman deal…My comment was toward some of the upper comments…Keep hearing how K. Lewis should start @ FS…M. Roman has been forgot about…Roman can cover an read better…K. Lewis is more of dat run stopper/ hitter 4 us… wanna see dem both split tyme at tymes but Feel better wit Roman…….. as 4 the future, Yes i would like 2 see us get a young FS
We need to be trying to pull the Manny Lawson….there are soooo many teams in the low twenties that would give up that spot. If we acquire that kind of a pick I say we address free safety or wide receiver. That is where the talent will be available.
Bowe i would like 2 see… or J. Hill n a later round……would also like Bush HB, he may fall to the 3rd, because of injury….just like Gore did
dats only if we end up wit 2 first round picks as you feel
we do need a Willis type player………….finna b a good draft day….D. Smith aint finna cut it
No he isn’t going to cut it. But, he could serve as a back up. After this year, we are going to probably sweep ALL of the remnants of the Erickson era away. That will be very necessary. I just hope the niners have the guts to move up for another pick.
I say we go back 2 the west coast offence and get 2 tall fast cb’s and we will be ok ps I love my team
the niners won 5 superbowls the classy way,the raiders won the games only because they cheated.if you don’t believe me watch america’s game:83 raiders.
MAN..NOW DRAFT PATIRCK WILLIS…….GOSH DAMN…A FUCKIN 4.37 ON THA 40 YARD DASH…ITS A MUST..FUCK CJ….WE TALK BOUT HIM 2 MUCH..BUT U KNO DAMN WELL IT AINT GON HAPPEN…DONT GET ME WRONG HE A GOOD PLAYER..BUT IT AINT GON HAPPEN..OUR POSSIBILITY 4 A TOPFLIGHT PLAYER..IS PATRICK WILLIS..AND HW WEARS THA NUMBER 49..SHIT ITS A SIGN…IM FUCKIN SERIOUS…HE IS THA MISSIN PEICE 2 OUR 49ER RISE..
